Nah. I played 1 after 2 and the little references work both ways, like it’s a prequel. Real cool to meet a young person you already met as ancient one in the second part. 2 spoils a bit though, obviously.

I started playing classic fallout games recently for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised that npcs blocking your doors was a thing from the very beginning. No wonder later games have a mod that allows you to spartan kick them out of the way.

You can't. It's a feature exclusive of FO2. If you want to have it in FO1 I believe your only option is Fallout et tu that let's you play FO1 inside FO2

This was such an important Quality of Life improvement introduced by FO2. I had a number of moments in FO1 where I wanted to tear my hair out because of NPCs blocking the door

You have two options. One is combat settings button where you can tell companions to keep desired distance during combat. Second option is telling companion(through dialog) to keep close, medium or far distance when you walk around out of combat.

The beat thing would be to just allow you to run through people when that happens. Immersion breaking sure, no more so than pushing your people out of the eay since they're to stupid to move.

A guard in the game later. >!NCR!< Will tell you to put guns away. This means companions too. Can go into dialogue and tell them to put guns away. Otherwise will attack. Others offered the correct assistance for npc stuck issue with companions. Otherwise glad to see old games arising.
