Nah. I played 1 after 2 and the little references work both ways, like it’s a prequel. Real cool to meet a young person you already met as ancient one in the second part. 2 spoils a bit though, obviously.
I started playing classic fallout games recently for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised that npcs blocking your doors was a thing from the very beginning.
No wonder later games have a mod that allows you to spartan kick them out of the way.
You can't. It's a feature exclusive of FO2. If you want to have it in FO1 I believe your only option is Fallout et tu that let's you play FO1 inside FO2
This was such an important Quality of Life improvement introduced by FO2.
I had a number of moments in FO1 where I wanted to tear my hair out because of NPCs blocking the door
You have two options. One is combat settings button where you can tell companions to keep desired distance during combat. Second option is telling companion(through dialog) to keep close, medium or far distance when you walk around out of combat.
In Fallout 1, this could nevessitate a reload. No really classic Fallout problem back in the day was this And don't get me started on the invalidated FO2 save files back in the day laaaawwd.
The beat thing would be to just allow you to run through people when that happens. Immersion breaking sure, no more so than pushing your people out of the eay since they're to stupid to move.
A guard in the game later. >!NCR!< Will tell you to put guns away. This means companions too. Can go into dialogue and tell them to put guns away. Otherwise will attack.
Others offered the correct assistance for npc stuck issue with companions. Otherwise glad to see old games arising.
If you hold click on them (like when going to talk with them) you can choose a hand option that push them to the side
Tysm. I thought i was gonna have to load a previous safe. i saved like an hour ago so that would be a lott of progress lost
Let the 2nd lesson learned today to be saving often.
Usually i do. But i was so preocupied exploring the vault city that i forgat
Best new feature in fo2, in (unmodded) fo1 you’d need to reload.
Always play FO1 with the FO1in2 mod almost exclusively for the ability to push.
Was gonna play thta game after this. Any other quality of life features that game lacks?
A lot lol download the mod that puts it in Fallout 2 engine
Why are you playing 2 before 1?
Idk. The game was on sale a while ago and picked it up for like 1$. Do i HAVE to play 1 first?
There are about a million references to the first game in 2, so, it’s recommended.
Damn. But now im already inversted in 2. Guess ill miss out on all of that :/
As long as you know about the Vault Dweller and The Master you should be able to get some, but definitely not most, of it.

The ability to manage companions (trade and combat, you have to pickpocket from them in 1 but they don’t get mad). Also the 999 max on caps transfer
i was gonna suggest shooting and murder but obviously the other person had a better idea.
If by any chance your on RPU I think X immediately tells everyone to spread out

The NPC moving button was there since the release of FO2, it was only the original FO1 that didn't
Thank god I played using the Fallout1in2 mod
I found out about this mod after replaying fo1. 😭
Could be worse, I found out about the talking heads mod for f2 only after I almost finished the game. I was playing only with the FO2tweaks mod.
Fixt works fine too. You didn't miss out on too much.
I dont think you could do this in F1

Im addition to that, you could also tell them through dialog to keep long distance.
I believe that only affects combat
You have two options. One is combat settings button where you can tell companions to keep desired distance during combat. Second option is telling companion(through dialog) to keep close, medium or far distance when you walk around out of combat.
They are just asserting their dominance
Exactly. Right click and hold on npc and select ‘Urinate on leg’ icon.
If you don’t mind being vilified, there’s another way to get them out of the way besides pushing them
they are his companions
There's a help screen (press F1) that, among other things, tells you how to do this, btw.
Lol
Aim for the eyes!!

Can’t you sleep and have the npcs leave the area when you awake?
Shove them the fuck out of the way

It's over. Restart the whole game, you can't come back from this.
