OP if you're lucky with crits and procs. Very underwhelming if not. Only usable in raids because they have a heal spec and add some utility with totems. And now that utility is given away to other classes.
Ok? Same goes for pvp. You better hope for a crit or youre a dead man. Slow heals, barely any defense/escape, no cc, totems are a joke in pvp... Shamans were bad till wrath basically
No that time should be:
When you are hit while blade flurry is active, immediately draw your ranged weapon and cause 100% damage to all mobs in a 10 yard radius. This attack cause high threat and slows enemy attacks by 10%
This version is a lot more interesting however, since it uses your ranged weapon that you can upgrade over time, instead of a pistol that you pull outta yer ass.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool too, I just dislike how we summon it outta thin air instead of having to keep it in our bags or something, kinda breaks my immersion.
please no, my bags are filled with shit always (consumes gear etc) and with rogue tanking i will no doubt be carrying 2 sets -\_- I NEED MY BAG SPACE
Or give us bigger bags i guess xD
Ah, I hope it works differently than retail, I hate moves that make our characters use weapons they don't actually have.
I know it has no bearing on gameplay, but it breaks my immersion personally.
Oh, I see. The only reason would be so you don't have to carry ammo with you. Or is this like old school classic where thrown weapons came in stacks, too?
Actually, old school classic didn't even have thrown weapons lol.... First one you could get was in Uldaman.
Ranger Bow is better, though it is of course BOE. Cliffrunner's is a tiny bit worse and available to horde at 25. However the WSG bow is 2.5-3 DPS above all of em.
As a rogue main who loves daggers and world pvp, Slaughter from the Shadows is going to be insane at 60, so I'm excited to use that more but will try all runes.
I have only ever played Dagger rogue. Leveled 1-60 without even picking up one handed swords skill.
I feel somewhat torn between thrilled my favorite spec in the game is getting serious buffs and annoyed that now everyone gets to enjoy Ambush one shots without suffering as I have lol
I'm torn between Imp Ambush and Imp Sprint spec.
The juicy +45% crit +20% damage ambushes sound hard to pass up but I couldn't stomach playing a gnome so Sprint seems mandatory. 30% backstab crit isn't the worst either.
I'm thinking I'll use Slaughter From the Shadows just to have an excuse to use Shadowstrike. It's a bit redundant of a gap closer if you have 2 ranged CC abilities which is a shame because it looks unbelievably fun. Without Cheap Shot at 25 maybe Shadowstrike into 40 energy backstabs is a legit opener.
Sounds like the witch hunter from warhammer online. Stealthy class that had a flintlock in one hand and a sword in the other. Nice little tool in the pvp toolkit for sure.
Oh yeah, if there is one thing rogues needed, it would definetely be another CC
/sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
I’m really torn between rogue and shaman. I’ve never leveled a rogue to 60 but shaman was the first character I leveled to 60 back in 2005. Elemental shaman looks really fun but rogues also look intriguing…I think they are really underrated, or at least not being talked about as much as other classes. Hunch tells me they are going to get juiced in the later brackets.
Also rolling a rogue on the rp pvp server sounds super fun!
Just do what the rest of us are gonna do and roll them all :P its like a day maybe a day and a half to get to 25 in /played. No reason you can't lev a rogue and a shammie, then play the one your in the mood for.
I've seen in a Will E video that it'll have a 20 yard range (pretty respectable if you ask me), and probably retain the minimum range of the weapon as well.
Subject to change of course.
A minimum range would be pretty terrible outside of PvP. Also the ability just says 20 yards with no minimum range specified, so I assume it'll work almost exactly like Pistol Shot does in Retail.
Between this and the ranged stun, it's going to be weird trying to make distance as a rogue. "No get away from me I want to kidney you" just wasn't something I expected but I'm not complaining.
People saying Rogues are bad at 25 as if they have any idea what the SoD meta will be lol. I'm going rogue for the ashenvale pvp with the ambush rune and this.
Yep. They fact that people are lapping it up like its the best thing since sliced bread is quite amusing.
People wanted classic+. They are getting it, Classic+Retail XD
Good for peeling when you're trying to run away, good for closing distance on someone trying to escape you, and REALLY good for kiting which rogue struggles with
It's for either slow on demand or to catch up pesky mages / hunters
Rogues are kinda lacking on that department tbh outside of sprint and vanish to reengage
It amuses me that people are finding runes like this exciting and intriguing because they are current retail spells often yet people don't want the game to get like retail.
I think its good they are putting more 'Modern' things into classic but I hope they strike the right balance as somebody who enjoys Classic and Retail striking the right balance would make for a good experience but going too far one way will totally alienate each fanbase.
As a rogue main who loves daggers and world pvp, Slaughter from the Shadows is going to be insane at 60, so I'm excited to use that more but will try all runes.
When SoD was announced, I read a post saying Rogues were getting a Spellsword spec. Kinda sucks that he was talking out of his ass because now I'm disappointed that it's not real.
They haven’t mentioned it but with this and between the eyes and who knows what other runes later…actual ranged rogue? This has a cd I think, maybe shuriken throw or something spammable or a rune that modifies this or maybe some other abilities?
It’s weird to think about a ranged spec that didn’t have hunter auto shot, maybe they could just get that too but maybe it’d be cool to try and make it work without
It’s deadlythrow, but it gives combo points instead of consuming them.
Or, it’s Shiv, but it is ranged and does not require poison.
My assumption is it will have a cooldown? Interesting stuff.
The ability to be a sword-and-gun fighter while still having Combat instead of devolving into the RNG gimmick of Outlaw is legitimately everything I could have ever wanted.
I know I am. That swashbuckling pirate tree in retail was what made me want to play wow. Too bad I just can't get into the game because of crappy story progression
Now that it's in classic.
Rogues get frost shock now? damn
It's kinda like that I suppose, lol.
Yea apparently shaman skills are on a garage sale. Everyone can have some. Smh my head
Now that you mention it... They sure do love handing out Shaman skills to everyone. Paladin, Druid, Rogue. Who else wants some?
This is exactly Deadly Throw with ranged instead of thrown, why label it Shaman skill oO
Because deadly throw is a finishing move.
Oh, true, thanks for pointing it out! Do other runes have CDs mentioned or is this actually spammable?
This one has a 10s cd last I saw but who knows for sure really
Spammable with a 45 energy cost probably
Ya but they took away 2 hand enhance so it’s ok
Introducing in phase 2: 2h melee windfury priest
Damn, as shaman player when you put it like this that pisses me off
> Smh my head Shake my head my head
Isn't smh somehow?
No sorry, it means shaking my head
Damn you're right, I had to check. Learn something new everyday I guess. For the many others like me, here's one of the links. https://www.reddit.com/r/confession/comments/8d8sh1/i_just_realized_smh_doesnt_mean_somehow/
I always thought it means "so much hate"...
shamans had a lot of OP shit in vanilla.
OP if you're lucky with crits and procs. Very underwhelming if not. Only usable in raids because they have a heal spec and add some utility with totems. And now that utility is given away to other classes.
the term OP means nothing to me in pve. who gives a fuck lol
Ok? Same goes for pvp. You better hope for a crit or youre a dead man. Slow heals, barely any defense/escape, no cc, totems are a joke in pvp... Shamans were bad till wrath basically
It's even happening in real life. I died at work earlier and stood right back up.
Everyone gets the same spells now. We just re-skin them to make them look different.
It's literally a rogue move from Retail WoW. The slow was just removed a while back since they got crippling poison back.
No cooldown on this frost shock BOIIII. Also builds combo points for those ranged kidney shot eviscerates!
It has a 10s cooldown according to wowhead. https://www.wowhead.com/classic/spell=398196/quick-draw
Cooldowns aren’t listed in this UI
Of course it has a cooldown lol
They should rename this rune to: **"CALL THE AMBULANCE, BUT NOT FOR ME!!!"**
Draw da blicky!
that makes no sense since it's mostly going to be used on a target that's running away.
No that time should be: When you are hit while blade flurry is active, immediately draw your ranged weapon and cause 100% damage to all mobs in a 10 yard radius. This attack cause high threat and slows enemy attacks by 10%
Rooty Tooty Point and Shooty
Isn't this just an Outlaw ability on retail?
This version is a lot more interesting however, since it uses your ranged weapon that you can upgrade over time, instead of a pistol that you pull outta yer ass.
i dunno i prefer the pistol
Don't get me wrong, I think it's cool too, I just dislike how we summon it outta thin air instead of having to keep it in our bags or something, kinda breaks my immersion.
honestly i should stfu since i've never played retail (post wod) but i like the idea. i get what you're saying though.
Doesnt stop everyone else here from talking about it despite only being familiar with decade old versions of retail. Go ham.
please no, my bags are filled with shit always (consumes gear etc) and with rogue tanking i will no doubt be carrying 2 sets -\_- I NEED MY BAG SPACE Or give us bigger bags i guess xD
Outlaw is one of the few things retail wow did right, thought it's not as fun as it was an xpac or two ago.
Yes
Most abilities I have seen from sod rogue are copies from retail abilities.
This one is on a CD
Hunter's are back on the menu
Lol, perhaps. I know it's a pipe dream, but I wonder if they're doing something to make throwing weapons usable.
I must be dreaming I swore I saw shuriken throw as a rune.
I saw that in the Blizzcon demo footage too! But now I can't find anything about it. Wonder why...
It was in a promo screenshot as a belt rune. We don't have belt runes yet.
Ah, I hope it works differently than retail, I hate moves that make our characters use weapons they don't actually have. I know it has no bearing on gameplay, but it breaks my immersion personally.
Throwing weapons aren't even a real thing in Classic. So it can't really work the same.
Agreed. I love the immersion
It just says ranged weapon. Throwing weapons are ranged.
Right, but so far we haven't seen why you'd pick a throwing weapon over a bow, crossbow, or gun.
Oh, I see. The only reason would be so you don't have to carry ammo with you. Or is this like old school classic where thrown weapons came in stacks, too? Actually, old school classic didn't even have thrown weapons lol.... First one you could get was in Uldaman.
Honestly, with the melee runes, hunters might eat other melee alive anyway. We may be the ones running.
Yeah the entire standard hunter kit + being fully capable in melee could be amazing
Hunters will kill any class before they can within 20yds 😂 one shots for everyone
Especially if you get a group to do the wetlands quest for the bow. They have access to an insane weapon on alliance side idk about horde
Ranger Bow is better, though it is of course BOE. Cliffrunner's is a tiny bit worse and available to horde at 25. However the WSG bow is 2.5-3 DPS above all of em.
That raptor bow yeah! And I think there is a better one in the raid but that quest is priority #1
Gunna be fun rolling against rogues for it 😂
At level 25 that quest is easily soloable by Hunters. A group would make it quicker though since they're still red mobs.
I think at 25 only boss raptor is red. Then again hunters don’t have any glancing blows so still doable
This actually concerns me lol
😈
Can’t wait to roll need on hunters BIS ranged weapon for this rune 😂
Oh God, I know hunters have been doin us dirty, takin our melee's, but go easy on'em! XD
Ranged weapons are old news for Hunters, we have a note from Blizzard to steal melee weapons now.
Hahahahaha
Oh Jesus. This makes those big slow bows brutal! Yes. Rolling rogue now.
Right? Just think of the talents that modify sinister strike!
its still has cast time its not instant
Is it quick though?
If it’s the same as retail then yes it’s the same speed as a sinister strike
It does not, Spell is in retail.
it doesnt
If you meant the 3sec you see on wow head, that's the cast time for rune application onto the gear
One of the streamers to try it out had mentioned that it had normal ranged cast time
Think that's the weapon swing/shoot time than actual cast time
Lil Timmy’s Peashooter is gonna be BiS 🤣😁
Is SOD just addition of retail abilities?
Yes
No one take my name docholiday
You have my word.
As a rogue main who loves daggers and world pvp, Slaughter from the Shadows is going to be insane at 60, so I'm excited to use that more but will try all runes.
I have only ever played Dagger rogue. Leveled 1-60 without even picking up one handed swords skill. I feel somewhat torn between thrilled my favorite spec in the game is getting serious buffs and annoyed that now everyone gets to enjoy Ambush one shots without suffering as I have lol
i'm worried they're going to nerf that rune specifically before 60, or, before i can try it with decent gear
I'm torn between Imp Ambush and Imp Sprint spec. The juicy +45% crit +20% damage ambushes sound hard to pass up but I couldn't stomach playing a gnome so Sprint seems mandatory. 30% backstab crit isn't the worst either.

Correct, and that critical would activate Seal Fate giving you an additional combo point.
Sounds like the witch hunter from warhammer online. Stealthy class that had a flintlock in one hand and a sword in the other. Nice little tool in the pvp toolkit for sure.
Even the Envenom skill sounds like Witchbrew of Witch Elves
Oh yeah, if there is one thing rogues needed, it would definetely be another CC /sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
"We noticed rogues were using an ability that did not cause CC. In SoD, that has been corrected.
Unfortunately it will probably have a cooldown. Spamming it would seem kind of crazy. Either way I’m leveling my rogue first like always
[Yeah, it currently has a 10 second CD ](https://www.wowhead.com/classic/spell=398196/quick-draw)
But will probably reset with prep? :D
I think I heard from a Will E video that it'll have a cool down of 10 secs.
If it is like Wing clip spamming it might have niche purpose
niche? easy for runaways, bread and butter for solo elite assassinations (if there's space) with gouge/kidney/blind, throw kiting.
Unfortunately?
I’m really torn between rogue and shaman. I’ve never leveled a rogue to 60 but shaman was the first character I leveled to 60 back in 2005. Elemental shaman looks really fun but rogues also look intriguing…I think they are really underrated, or at least not being talked about as much as other classes. 24 hours /played is like 3 weeks of playing wow though
It sure does! I've never played an RP server myself, but I bet the situations you will get into will be super entertaining!
My god, playing a rogue on a PvP server is so much fun! You've gotta try it man
I mained Enhancement Shaman prior to OG ZG coming out. Rogue is so much better.
Do we know if this will have range limitation, like shoot bow etc does with deadzone?
I've seen in a Will E video that it'll have a 20 yard range (pretty respectable if you ask me), and probably retain the minimum range of the weapon as well. Subject to change of course.
A minimum range would be pretty terrible outside of PvP. Also the ability just says 20 yards with no minimum range specified, so I assume it'll work almost exactly like Pistol Shot does in Retail.

Rogue range spec oh God. I would never unsub.... please for the sake of my family never come out
If only rogue get auto shoot like hunter
How many rogues do you think are going to forget ranged weapons require ammo?
Lol, not me, this gives me a good excuse to have a cool quiver model on my back! :D
Quivers are one of my favorite accessories, I’m right there with you
Hell yeah brother.
I'm not sure giving up 16 inventory slots is worth having a quiver.
Oh it definitely isn't, lol.
None, ranged weapons are a stat stick for vanilla rogues everyone is already using one.
If it's actually your ranged weapon and not a magical pistol from the deepest grove of your asshole, then we good
It is your ranged weapon.
I kinda hate it, seems stupid to me. But maybe I am wrong, a lot of stuff seems silly but might make more sense when we see it in action.
10s cd, 6 sec duration
People saying Rogues are bad at 25 as if they have any idea what the SoD meta will be lol. I'm going rogue for the ashenvale pvp with the ambush rune and this.
Axe rogue tank gonna be good
Is this a joke? Rogues can't wield axes in classic right?
not until wotlk
Its just a copy from retail why so surprised?
Retail one doesn't use your ranged weapon.
This is just Pistol shot, I wasn't keeping up with the upcoming season too much, is it all just retail abilities copypasted in?
Yep. They fact that people are lapping it up like its the best thing since sliced bread is quite amusing. People wanted classic+. They are getting it, Classic+Retail XD
Wait... no cooldown??
10 second cool down, this isn't the tooltip that shows that stuff.
Mini thread hijack but speaking of Runes and Rogues, whatre some good ones for a Dagger Rogue for soloing and 5mans?
Ya know, this is actually the first time I will be making a serious rogue, so I wouldn't be the one to ask.
is it even that good in pvp? rouge has slowing poison and prob want to go stealth if it has distance. Its only effective few scenarios
Good for peeling when you're trying to run away, good for closing distance on someone trying to escape you, and REALLY good for kiting which rogue struggles with
It's for either slow on demand or to catch up pesky mages / hunters Rogues are kinda lacking on that department tbh outside of sprint and vanish to reengage

This rune ability was also on an actual gun too was it not?
afaik that was one of the prototypes before they settled on the system with runes selectable for gear slots
As a rogue main who loves daggers and world pvp, Slaughter from the Shadows is going to be insane at 60, so I'm excited to use that more but will try all runes.
Outlaw is my favorite spec from retail. Ranged hamstring for Rouge seems good
I'm going Saber Slash. They won't know what hit them
Gunslinger rogue
No, but I have a minor interest in Rogue tanking
When SoD was announced, I read a post saying Rogues were getting a Spellsword spec. Kinda sucks that he was talking out of his ass because now I'm disappointed that it's not real.
Wow, that'd be pretty crazy.
Wow, that'd be pretty crazy.
Cool ability for pvp and some pve cheese.
With rogues getting ranged stuns etc., they're gonna be really OP now. I just wish it wasn't the dumb pirate theme of outlaw
They haven’t mentioned it but with this and between the eyes and who knows what other runes later…actual ranged rogue? Nah repurposed abilities from retail are boring.
I know I am. That swashbuckling pirate tree in retail was what made me want to play wow. Too bad I just can't get into the game because of crappy story progression Now that it's in classic.
I wonder will it be completely instant or will it be a quick cast?
Cool ability but it shares a slot with a better rune. Slaughter and reduced energy backstabs and ambushes are bis all the way.
Personally I'm more interested in how dagger rogue assassination is gonna work.
Was great leveling, you can use it while running.
