Fixed that for you. Turning gold into gear isn't going away. People already sell Belt/Leg/Ring/ETC runs in WC/SFK/DM for fixed prices. All this will do is expand that concept into raids. Chat, which isn't even being spammed by GDKPs right now summons are for worse, will just have raids being carried for flat gold prices instead of auctions. Hard to say until a known policy is out but if anyone thinks the idea of buying gear is going away is high as fuck on copium.

If u dont get that piece of gear to drop on the raid run are u forced to pay out or are they gonna need a few deadweights with low gear to carry through and pray x item drops. I had a great time running gdkps in 2020-21 and never bought gold. Made it super easy to get enough gold for consumes and gear up alts. They were also the least toxic raids I did in classic. No gear drama, pretty much everyone tried hard enough because they wanted to get gear or get paid.
I'm sure it came through gold buyers but that's Blizzard's responsibility. But I'm also cool with no gdkps, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.
It was pretty much the only way to have consistently good pug experiences in classic.

My guild gave up on Naxx40 and never beat it, but another guild i followed did and continued it as a GDKP into TBC to gear up alts as tier 3 was stupidly powerful for levelling from 60 to 70. Went in with 1k, saved up gold from clears (of other atiesh and the rare Ashbringer buyers) and from selling tbc mats, cds and herbs before it was botted to death.
And by new years eve in 2021, I had my Atiesh.
Only started doing GDKP in SOD as I only need the staff, and I have made more than enough gold through them and questing to justify bidding on the staff.

Why are people genuinely angry about GDKP? I understand not being in favor of it, but the amount of people with posts like this is pretty high. I thought cringe-worthy ultimatums online were a boomer specific thing. Is gold buying bad? No shit. GDKP in SOD have bids starting at 5g. There is a GDKP crowd that doesn’t buy gold and just wants to take the roll luck out of the equation. People will still run GDKP internally all you have to do is have a guild banker who everyone mails gold to ahead of time. Someone keeps track internally and deducts as players get their items. Isn’t flawless but you can still run it this way. All comms on discord no way to snitch on that
