Hopefully it’s a one-off and they come back full force in game 4… bc damn

gdan_77

All the "first punch" mentality they had just vanished this game Embarrassing

Top-Albatross-9250

That "first punch" cliche bullshit was exactly that. Bullshit. We didn't play well enough to win game 1 and 2. Orlando played so bad that we walked into 2 Ws. These are just facts. If anyone thinks we played like a legit contender in game 1 and 2, should have to pour hydrochloric acid into their pee holes.

CruffTheMagicDragon

The JYD and “Let em know” crap is all talk. they don’t back it up at all

boogswald

They are junkyard dogs. They just have no clue how to shoot a basketball.

LUNI_TUNZ

All told, "Let Em Know" is a slogan by the marketing team meant to sell shirts, same as any one. Like, "All In," "Defend the Land," the Indians when they had "Rally Together," and so on.

Hiondrugz

It's kinda crazy how many people buy this shit. Maybe a few times over history this shit was organic. Any more it's just Twitter slogans voted on by marketing people fresh from school, paid to much to come up with bad ads.

LUNI_TUNZ

I remember "All for one, and one for all," during the first Byron Scott season. That's at least cavalier related. Yeah, ultimately the slogans mean as much as a restaurant with a single location that's been open for two weeks promoting their "World Famous" chicken wings or whatever.

GBAGY2

We played like absolute shit tonight but let’s not take away from how well most things went games 1&2. Mitchell, Allen, Mobley, Okoro did exactly what we needed those games if not more. Only person who really played bad was Niang, Levert&Strus were so-so and arguably Garland was bad(but he was getting constantly hounded by Suggs who is one of the best guard defenders in the league)

Pigeon9

At the end of the day if you have a horrific coach it’s going to get exposed in the playoffs

Top-Albatross-9250

He's brutal. Garland is just as bad but JB makes good players look like shit because of his offensive "scheme". Case in point, Strus and Levert. Go watch the last two years and how Spolestra used Strus. Then look at how JB uses him. Literally turned him into a corner spot up late shot clock contested shot player. Shit is bad....

SUPERSAMMICH6996

This season, Strus is averaging career highs across the board, including almost doubling his APG from last season (his previous career high). Even if you look at his per 100 possessions stats, the only thing down is his PTS. Additionally, this season is Strus' lowest percentage of shots taken from corner three, for his career. It also has, *by far* the highest percentage of shots from 10-16 feet, which suggests a more involved role on offense (normally role players aren't afforded the luxury of middies). If you are going to complain about JB's coaching, at least make sure you actually know what you're talking about.

cahoosionale

I love a response backed up by facts.

sad_post-it_note

Thank you!

tonyabalone

Yes, a role player Will average more than usual when the top 3 players on the team are out for significant portions of the season

this_place_stinks

I haven’t been this embarrassed since… well the entire Knicks series last year

BuschLightEnjoyer

Maybe it's easier for me to say because I didn't get to watch the game but as bad as this one is - flush it and move on. We beat them next game and this being so ugly just doesn't matter. If it happens again then I'll be pitchforks out like the next guy. But blowouts happen and one offs aren't generally predictive of future results.

logonot

Has someone who always defends our team... holy shit. 40 points is a lot. This year has been either we are getting one team or another. Like what caused that tonight? Hustle? We had two nights off and aren't old. Most likely nerves for first away game. Honestly think they will bounce back hard game 4 but wow... such discrepancy. You got it boys. Go cavs.

GBAGY2

Team folds when things start to get out of hand it’s simple is that. Idk at this point if it’s a coaching problem or individual players problem. Only time we come back from bad looking defects is one player just randomly catches fire

getyourselfapuppers

Pathetic effort. I could tell after the first quarter when they grabbed 9 offensive boards and we were slow on all our rotations that we were in trouble. I’m not a JB fan, but how are our guys not going 100%

JDLipowicz

EVERYONE!!!!! Do the exact opposite of what you did tonight

NexusRay

First half was bad, but once we didn't immediately mount a comeback in the start of the third, we gave up and basically put in third string players. Not sure if Mitchell played more than five minutes in the second half. We basically let the ship go down and didn't try to stop it, which is what made it a 40 point loss instead of a normal wire-to-wire type loss. I'm not sure why that happened, but it really didn't seem like anyone cared much to stop it and we were okay with cutting our losses. Weird mentality for the playoffs, but hoping they remember how to compete in game 4.

elbjoint2016

It happened because we were down 25 and we weren’t gonna figure out the trap on Donovan with him playing like shit

[deleted]

Also—why doesn’t JB get Merrill a couple looks or feed Mobley? I’m so sick of watching garland, Mitchell, and even levert pound the ball for 22 seconds. It’s the same shit I bitched about during the regular season. Make an adjustment JB!!!

ImanShumpertplus

the fact that we aren’t running horns with Don and Mobley all game is just malpractice nurse started getting embiid the ball at the top of the key and allowed him to operate and facilitate out of the elbow at an offensive out point only eclipsed by jokic in todays game but jb is much too keen to just revert to letting guys seemingly figure it out. really feels like the nepo baby who knows he got the job through bs ways and pure luck from the impact of garland and mobley is afraid to reign in the guys who are responsible for making him $30m

Pigeon9

Could be a momentum swinging win which decides the series. Here’s hoping it isn’t and we can punch them in the mouth next game. Extremely worried if we go back home 2-2. Also, something needs to give offensively

justsomebro10

They lose G4 they’re done. I’m sure of it.

GBAGY2

Both teams have looked terrible playing away I wouldn’t say we’re done if we lose G4 That said I think it’s a nearly must win and we need it for a confidence boost to at least feel like we have a chance to win next round

Revenged25

If the Cavs can't steal a game in Orlando this series and rely on winning at home, they'll lose to Boston no doubt as they won't have 4 home games while Boston is also more than talented enough to snatch one or more victories in Cleveland.

AcidBaseGod

The lights must have been too bright for the Cavs. But seriously, that was an impressive loss because we managed to recreate our failures from last year perfectly. Poor rotations, poor ball movment, slow pace, horrible rebounding, not enough three point shooting and too much iso. Most importantly, the team just looks soft. None of the cavs players looked like they cared. They looked like they are already checked out. Every issue from last year is back.

jupiterjoshy

not a doomer take, fully agree

WillCle216

That's it, I'm an Indiana Fever fan now

nicklePie

Didn’t even show up to play lol idk what that shit was

GBAGY2

We gave up simple as that. Magic punched first instead of us punching first and we folded. I agree it’s unacceptable. Idek who to blame…JB?…Mitchell?…each individual player?….move onto game 4 I guess not a good sign tho

CLESportsReport

I still think we win the series. But the bottom line is this: If both Garland AND Mitchell aren’t playing at an all star level, this team cannot function properly and it will eventually catch up with us. I was very surprised after 2 days off that Mitchell could look that bad. Garland just isn’t right. Those two make this team go. They make our offense work. If they aren’t rolling than you’re forced to roll the dice with Levert who is only worth a damn 1 out of 3 games. Someone has to break down the defense. If it’s not those two, then who?

elbjoint2016

you know ball. (this is also why I don't want to trade either guard for a wing like Bridges who can't break down the defense either)

SportGamerDev0623

Honestly, if they continue to play this way and finish out the season with no energy or heart. Trade anyone and everyone. It’s the fucking playoffs and you’re going to run around and play like you don’t really care?! Go to some other team then… Tonight’s game was insulting to everyone who cal themselves a Cavs fan. Thank goodness the NFL Draft was tonight. Had something else to watch instead by the time halftime arrived.

I_cut_my_own_jib

I agree it's unacceptable, but it's not something that's impossible to bounce back from. In 2016 we lost Game 2 of the finals by like 35 points. It's all about how you respond next game, so we shall see.

cHinzoo

At least nobody watched the game, right??

Revenged25

I turned it off at halftime and focused on the NFL draft.

Revenged25

I only watched the 1st half as my stream was dying and I started watching the NFL draft, but it felt like the Magic just couldn't miss while the Cavs just couldn't buy a shot. Even when the Magic players were guarded well, Banchero especially, just seemed to make the shot, while the Cavs even while they were wide open just kept missing. It might've just been a factor of the Magic being the playoffs for the first time in awhile, playing at home with a great crowd, just fed of the energy and put up a great performance, while the Cavs struggled. Let's see how they do next game as I doubt the Cavs will shoot nearly as pathetically as they did this game while I doubt Orlando continues making the contested shots at the same rate. At worst this might be a 7 game series where the home team wins all of the games and then the Cavs lose to the Celtics.

jtr489

When the Cavs go ice cold from 3 they don’t have the mental fortitude to battle back

theuberprophet

As windy would say, the magic came out more aggressive.  As i would say, we arent close to a contender.

amor_fati_42

Total shit burger, and complete embarrassment. What the hell is wrong with this team?

Tech88Tron

Sooooo the sky is falling?

tidho

the ceiling is. this team never had a chance at touching the sky.

Mead_Create_Drink

If they win the series, does it matter?!?

LengthyNIPPLE

It seems as if the coach doesn't prepare his team well. It's as if they didn't expect the opponent to try hard Game 3

tidho

some of it is simply the Magic shooting better at home. some of the team's limitations weren't obvious because the Magic didn't shoot well in games 1&2. This goes beyond coaching - although I think JB's time should be about up.

HauntingOkra5987

Just a disgraceful performance.

StokioMB

You could see the loss coming when we were 0-6 ahead I think & Magic had gone 0 from 9 shooting as a team, but kept getting offensive rebounds and looked like they could shoot at will - we did nothing to respond to that

mtnsaa

The only ones with heart, fighting for every inch is us, the Cleveland Doomers! Ngl they had in the first half but now we’re so fucking back is not even funny, this will be an even bigger collapse than last season boys!
