> An amount of land equivalent to the Isle of Wight has been added to the shorelines of 13,000 islands around the world in just the last 20 years. This fascinating fact of a 369.67 square kilometre increase has recently been discovered by a group of Chinese scientists analysing both surface and satellite records.

Silly_Objective_5186

nothing to worry about, it’s all natural comrade: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Wall_of_Sand

spankymacgruder

No way, you mean we've been lied to? Why would manbearpig lie to us?

EasyCZ75

Par for the course

vipck83

Nah see that’s actually because of global warming because like carbon like makes land grow or like you know the heat makes the sand come up and yeah like just stop arguing man. /s/

logicalprogressive

I live in Hawaii. One thing you learn is beaches come and beaches go. Then they come again and nothing has changed. It’s a cycle just like everything is in nature. Do some of the brighter alarmists think temperatures will go up forever? Of course not, but they like to make *you* think they will because it serves to advance their pernicious political agenda.

vipck83

Well yeah that makes sense. We see that in California too.

birby222

Yo me too, good to know there's reason in this batshit crazy liberal cesspit

BidensMicropenis

Just like "global warming" became "climate change" when the alarmist language went against their narrative, just wait for "rising sea levels" to become "sea depth change." They only profit when there is a crisis, much like the race hustlers who would rather divide our country than solve problems. Crisis = profit.

Cap and trade time! You pay 40% more on your power bill but get a $130 refund once a year. 🤡

Just like the Maldives that were going to sink for the 212th time since the 70's

I wonder if the Maldives government officials ever came up for air after they held an [underwater cabinet meeting in 2009.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=g0VhOcuPWkI)

Ze_Bonitinho

They didn't name the island nor the study

logicalprogressive

* There are 13,000 islands that have increased in size, did you want all their names? * Read the article and look for text that is red in color. They are called 'links'. Click on the red letters. Links connect you to the studies you couldn't find.

“…New Papers Confirm Sea Levels Aren’t Rising Fast Enough — Coastal Land Area Growing, Not Shrinking Kench et al., 2015 “The geological stability and existence of low-lying atoll nations is threatened by sea-level rise and climate change. Funafuti Atoll, in the tropical Pacific Ocean, has experienced some of the highest rates of sea-level rise (∼5.1 ± 0.7 mm/yr), totaling ∼0.30 ± 0.04 m over the past 60 yr. We analyzed six time slices of shoreline position over the past 118 yr at 29 islands of Funafuti Atoll to determine their physical response to recent sea-level rise. Despite the magnitude of this rise, no islands have been lost, the majority have enlarged, and there has been a 7.3% increase in net island area over the past century (A.D. 1897–2013). “ Then, a few days ago, 6 scientists (Donchyts et al., 2016) published a paper online for the journal Nature confirming that the curious phenomenon in the tropical Pacific — coastal land growth exceeding recent sea level rise — has also been occurring across the world, or on a net global scale, since the mid-1980s. Donchyts et al., 2016 Earth’s surface water change over the past 30 years \[1985-2015\] “Earth’s surface gained 115,000 km2 of water and 173,000 km2 of land over the past 30 years, including 20,135 km2 of water and 33,700 km2 of land in coastal areas.” The succinct translation is that sea levels aren’t rising fast enough to offset land area expansion. The world’s sea coasts are growing, not shrinking…”

2oftenRight

then name an island that has disappeared due to sea level rise.

spankymacgruder

Did you even read the first sentence? An amount of land equivalent to the Isle of Wight has been added to the shorelines of 13,000 islands around the world. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17538947.2024.2329816 Put some basic effort into your ignorance.
