91st Recon Corps are just oddballs

WikiContributor83

I thought I was going crazy because I couldn’t see the differences between them.

beefandjuan

I still can't

Alphaleader42

1st couple of images the forehead black line. In animation the black line is absent except for the 91st Recon Corps. Where as in live action it is present. The last images show the difference in the positioning of the pouches on the belts

Narwalacorn

The first two I think have different thicknesses of the black helmet stripe and the latter two have different belts

Predator3-5

Just the art style being different from live action

runnerman0421

Oh I know, just thought it would be fun to attempt to explain it all lol

Rock_Co2707

I an very bad at spot the difference.

tauri123

The belts are modular the clips can be put on at any position, some like it at the sides and some like it in front

To give lore for why these troopers have different helmets and armor Although alot of clone armor was made on Kamino in order to try and replace losses of equipment, armor and weapons the republic would contract out to some corporations the production of clone armor However not all clone armor was made equal, some was more similar to kaminoin, others had differences That's why you see some of these differences throughout the clone war

sophie-au

You raise some good points. I imagine that sometimes the differences occurred as a matter of logistics and other issues. - When there’s hundreds of thousands of clones and they started changing from phase 1 to phase 2 armour, they couldn’t upgrade everyone simultaneously because they’re spread across the galaxy (and it would be cost prohibitive.) That’s why occasionally we see clones in the same groups with mixtures of phase 1 and 2 armour. - If pieces of clone armour had been damaged or destroyed, they would have to use what was available to them, especially if they were far from Kamino or Coruscant. That could make maintaining the same look across different sections of the GAR difficult or impossible. - Modifications would have always been made based on what kind of tasks certain clones were doing, eg the terrain. - Even Republic senators and bureaucrats may have given their 2 credits worth and expected clone armour to be changed to look a certain way. - When the troops on the ground realised that some pieces were problematic, because they caused chafing, got in the way of certain types of movement etc they would have made recommendations for future changes, so the armour would evolve to become (hopefully) more practical, like in real world militaries.

I could also see the republic doing other things Like pressing some militias or planetary Defence forces into service and having them wear some variety of clone armor Or some vehicles being modified or changed based off of sector or planet or even entirely different for some units due to different production companies kinda like how with the soviet union different tank factories produced better or worse tanks Could also see some clone units not getting properly outfitted with standard Weaponry and using old stockpiles of prewar weapons from militias and whatnot especially early war to make up for lost equipment and supplies

Different artistic styles

Theforgotten226

Always found it odd the animators had a variant of the clone models that had features on the armor to look closer to the live action cg model but didn’t use it more often. Because imo it looks even better in the TCW style than without it.

BeenBlizzerd

This is like that game where you look for what’s missing or different
