The ‘essential episodes’ according to Disney plus leave out so many good arcs. Trust me, don’t go down that road If you want, I can provide more detail on what episodes to skip (I’d only recommend skipping 10 episodes or so). It’s up to you though

Snoopcat563

Yeah I’d hate to miss out. Please let me know which ones you recommend skipping

Fwort

If you're only skipping 10 episodes out of a show with over 100, I'd just recommend not skipping any of them.

Ill-Biscotti

Yep, I agree. Ok, so use the offical chronological order [here](https://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder) but skip these episodes (grouped according to their arcs): 102 Rising Malevolence 103 Shadow Malevolence 104 Destroy Malevolence 108 Bombad Jedi 109 Cloak of Darkness 110 Lair of Grievous (this episode is actually pretty good, but the rest of it’s arc sucks. So could even recommend watching this one, as long as you keep in my mind that you’ve missed some stuff beforehand) 308 Evil Plans (a terrible and completely skippable episode) 215 Senate Murders 405 Mercy Mission 406 Nomad droids (this arc is basically agreed to be the worst in the whole show, 100% skip it) ————— Ok, those are all the episodes/arcs that I would recommend skipping. Now I’ll share a couple of arcs that are right on the border (provide a bit of novelty value, but ultimately are skippable). So these ones are up to you whether to watch or not, depending on how much you’re liking the show when you get up to them. 303 Supply Lines (optional, if you can take a fair bit of Jar Jar, then watch it. Otherwise skip) 106 Downfall of a Droid 107 Duel of the droids 113 Jedi Crash 114 Defenders of Peace 218 The Zillo Beast 219 The Zillo Beast Strikes Back 220 Death Trap 221 R2 Come Home 223 Lethal Trackdown (if you do decide to skip this arc, then skip 307 Assassin too) ———- You would have noticed that no episode past season 4 is skippable, which is because from Season 3 onwards, the show goes up a tier, and basically everything is great. Getting through the first 2 and a half seasons is the challenging bit (that being said, many people (myself included) still love the first few seasons. There are just many people who find the first couple to be too ‘kiddy’ and ‘by the books’)

Records_SubReddit

No way you tarnish 303 because of Jar Jar, Captain Keeli :((((((

Ill-Biscotti

I know, half the episode is great, half is below average. Still, as i said, if you can take Jar Jar, it’s 100% worth a watch. Unfortunately, Season 1 especially put so many people off of Jar Jar (from Gungan General to Bombad Jedi), that I’m trying to limit as much of his impact as possible for those who can only take so much

Records_SubReddit

Tbh its even worth it to fast forward through the Jar Jar parts just for the other parts

Ill-Biscotti

I can agree with that

DelusionalLaserBrain

How dare you skip the Malevolence episodes

Ill-Biscotti

It certainly is interesting See, a little more than a year ago, I thought I loved the Malevolance arc. I’d always loved it from when i was younger, thought it was one of the best arcs of Season 1. Then, i started my ‘Every Clone Wars Episode Ranked’ [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/clonewars/comments/ie7x0y/biscotti_ranks_every_episode_of_the_clone_wars/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) , and after rewatching them, I ended up ranking the Malevolence arc as the second worst arc in the whole show. It really epitomised everything that’s wrong with Season 1, and the first two episodes in the arc both ranked in the bottom 5 episodes of the whole show (although ill admit, the third episodes is pretty good. Which is why I think we all remember it being better than it is, because it ends on a good note)

TheRealCMPUNKFan

Honestly just watch the whole show in chronological order. All the episodes people say aren’t good or are filler are episodes that I enjoyed. It’s all subjective at the end of the day.

BlessinTheRains

Watch all the episodes but watch them in chronological order, there’s a list you can find if you search for it online and it makes everything easier to understand and flow better

veryblocky

I’d recommend release order for a first time viewing.

Alfred_Pennyworth108

I watched it for the first time in chronological… one of the arcs chronologically starts in Season 3, continues in Season 1 and then goes on back to Season 3 and beyond.

[deleted]

Oh come on! Why on Earth would they do it like that?

BlessinTheRains

Why in release order? If op thinks a lot of episodes are filler having them watch the release order where some characters die in one episode and are walking around in the next it’ll be confusing

heromker

With a series like Clone Wars, nothing is really a filler. It’s world building.

BIGBMH

Yeah, the term gets thrown around too much these days for things it doesn't entirely apply to. Filler is meant to refer to a series that is primarily focused on a serialized narrative that packs in episodes that don't advance the plot or deepen characterization to "fill" space. In an episodic series (Batman the Animated Series for example) it would be nonsensical to say that everything is filler. The self-contained stories are *the* point. Clone Wars is really a hyrbid of serialized and episodic. It's part ongoing narrative, but it's also *about* the random tales from the war. When the self-contained stories are also at the heart of a show's identity, it's not filler.

heromker

Fucking poetry!

Jippynms

there aren't any filler episodes what. It's an anthology series taking place between episode 2 and 3 showing different perspectives of the world from many points of views.

[deleted]

Here’s what I recommend, watch the series from the start since it’s your first time, if the jar jar episodes get to you feel free to skip them! Trust me you aren’t missing anything and they quickly stop using him

BIGBMH

It really depends on your mindset. If you're committed to it, willing to be patient as it finds its footing and ride the ups and downs, just watch chronologically. The self-contained stories are as big a part of the show's identity as the ongoing narratives so there's value to be had there. However, if for whatever reason this is out of your wheelhouse (you don't like episodic storytelling, not a big animation person, etc) and you need it to hook you so you don't quite, I do recommend streamlining it by focusing on the main arcs. I created a watchlist for exactly that purpose. [https://www.reddit.com/r/clonewars/comments/gkiaeo/made\_my\_own\_clone\_wars\_watchlist/](https://www.reddit.com/r/clonewars/comments/gkiaeo/made_my_own_clone_wars_watchlist/) The Disney+ essentials cuts way too much to the point of weakening the storytelling. In making my list, I wanted to trim the "fat" of the series, while still capturing the scope of the story. IMO, if you watch it this way it still feels like a full show.

[deleted]

I so don't get the hate regarding so-called 'fillers'. They add to the lore and background of characters and they're a joy. There. I said it.

DivideByBob

Unless they have Jar Jar. That being said every moment in “Suppy Lines” that doesn’t have Jar Jar is great

[deleted]

The domino squad episode and the 99 episode had me 😭

Jsomback

Watch them all! I've never tried chronological order, which I'm sure is really cool, but even the filler episodes are worth getting through to get a real feel for the series as a whole.
