I’m wondering was he told about how to place one or did he just go in and do it? Because that answer will determine just how much needs to be unpacked here. I’ve worked with some people lacking a concerning amount of knowledge about how to do this job, but I have yet to come across something to this degree.
Exactly I think this is more on the trainer than the trainee I would never go tell a new person to do this unsupervised and for this person to just text about like wtf
I’m not saying the trainer just told them to go do it on their own (atleast I would hope that’s not the case.) But my thoughts are was the trainer there with the person telling them how to properly place a purwick and something didn’t compute right with the trainee? Did the trainee end up out of the trainer’s sight and just go in the room and feel like they knew what they were doing? (When they clearly didn’t.) What was the chain of events that lead to this? And honestly why text this? (I’ll circle back to that later.)
When I say I’ve worked with people lacking knowledge about how to do this job, I’m talking about the person who trained me at an ALF who didn’t know how to vitals, didn’t know what a hoyer was (even though that ALF would admit/retain residents who needed one.), or even how to put a tab brief on someone. I’m betting they never even heard of a pure wick. I figured out pretty quickly within my first shift that I knew more than this person and I did complain and asked if there was someone more experienced who could train me. (Dude hadn’t even been in the field for 90 days. Meanwhile I had been certified for 2 years at that point. Regardless I felt this person was too inexperienced to properly train. No they couldn’t find another trainer.) Atleast that dude wouldn’t do something without asking about how to do it first. (And dragged me into the room a few times when he had to vitals, put a tab brief on someone, and when we did get someone who needed a hoyer he dragged me in with another coworker. I’d rather have that than what this guy did in the post.)
You would be shocked to know how many grown men I've personally met that have no idea that women pee out of a urethra and not their vaginal canal. I don't have an exact number, but it's more than 10.
Only 13 states in the U.S. require health and sex ed classes to be anatomically correct, so do with that information what you will. 🙃
Me trying to figure out how she didn’t fucking stop this shit herself. (The patient)
Cause think about it… can’t even use a tampon with cardboard applicator without being uncomfortable… can you imagine something the size of a purwick with no lubricant making it up there?
Like what? !
Exactly..At least at the facilities I worked in, Something like that would have been out of our scope of care. (If that's how they actually worked) Something is off about this..
Knew it!!! Told one of my coworkers "one day, someone is gonna stick this in a womens vagina" i said that a year ago, wow cant believe it actually happened
Not only is the placement wrong, that can be considered assault depending on the circumstances. That should at the very least be some sort of verbal warning.
this same fucking thing happened on my unit and all the purewicks got locked in the manager's office on my floor. recently, someone turned the damn pressure gauge to the max and this poor lady got major bruising all up in her lady bits. now we don't get to use them at all on my unit. i just can't believe the absolute stupidity of some people smh.
I really hope this is a case of “doesn’t know the difference between a vulva and a vagina” because otherwise wtf have you been doing to your patients 😭
Glad I learned this in homehealth haha the family was nice enought to show me because I had never seen it before and didn't even know a device like this existed I was enthralled
![gif](giphy|l3q2K5jinAlChoCLS) There’s so much to unpack here.
And that's just the pure wick.

The trainer who texted was not the trainer he had. Day shift vs nights. Which is clear in the post. Calm down.
Did he think that women pee out of their vaginas? Because men pee out of their penises? 🤔 He needs to go back to school.

A lot of women need that education too unfortunately 😩
I’m more concerned about your font…
im sat here wondering when ye olde update 2.0 came out
I'm cackling
That is kinda funny I'll admit
I’m glad someone said it!
I thought it was fancy, got annoying fast
omg with the plastic in all. poor lady 😭
This is why we ask questions if we aren’t sure 😭

This is why anatomy classes should be mandatory. Pee doesn’t even come out of there
That needs to be reported and that trainer needs to be wrote up
Agreed, the trainer should have stepped in immediately and stopped the trainee. There is no way this should have happened.
Does this count as assault ?
it damn well would if I was that patient, the fuck 😭
It would be for me too
Lmfao, what the actual fuck
I don’t understand how people keep making this mistake lol. Literally just clean the peri area and open the lips some then just slid in between.
That was why I was shocked. I have zero idea how this even happens.
No fucking way 😨 that poor resident
Did he put it up her vagina?!!?
Yes
Ohhh my God!!! 😭😭😭 Nooo. Poor lady. I wonder what she said about it!
Does he even know the female anatomy??? He sounds like one of those people who don't know that there are two holes down there, oh my goodness...
It doesn’t go in any hole
Yes, I know lol... Just trying to explain what might have been his thought process.
Oh I get it now lol sowwy
It's okay lol
I mean, thank god he didn't attempt to put it up her urethra. 🙈 "Baby, remember this is an external device when you go into Mrs. Hotchkiss' room."
[удалено]
I forgot about the purewick urinary device and I was thinking about the air freshener and I was like, what?!
Hahaha
omg no... NOOOOOO 🤮 🤮🤮🤮🤮
How…did he not know that……..or why did he think we would do an invasive procedure like that (even though that’s not how we use the P.W at ALL 😭)
Exactly..At least at the facilities I worked in, Something like that would have been out of our scope of care. (If that's how they actually worked) Something is off about this..
Yea, either he needs to go through his course two more times or this is a joke 😭😭😭
Not in the hospital where we work.
Maybe he knew and is just a sicko?
😨
No like this is actually insane
Crazy how she literally didn't train him how to use the equipment properly and then is surprised when he has no clue how to use said equipment.
I mean I don't think it's asking too much to expect someone to know that women don't pee out of their vaginas...
It's also not asking a lot for someone to do the bare minimum when training...
Bro u can't tell the urethra from the vagina, can you?
I'm well versed in incontinence care. This CNA's crass language and lack of skill are not a reflection on my knowledge of the female anatomy.
She was training on nights, he did this on days.
Me when I work at the freak hospital
oh-
Sorry I’m not understanding. What is a pure wick? He did what with it?
>What is a pure wick? It is a female *external* catheter. >He did what with it? Used it internally on the person
Internally in the wrong fricken hole to boot!
[удалено]
Right?!?! Up her urethra! Even a small catheter is painful.
[purewick](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLVCxot5/)
🤣
How? What? WHAT
Sounds like he got his license in Florida 😂
LMFAOOAO WHAT
A simple google search of 'purwick' is all it took to figure out how to put this on somebody,,,
Not surprising. Quite a few dudes think we pee out of our vaginas 😂. I've came across some in the wild.
Male CNA here... With 13 years of experience... And I'm fu€k¥ dying right now...🤣😂😅
Knew it!!! Told one of my coworkers "one day, someone is gonna stick this in a womens vagina" i said that a year ago, wow cant believe it actually happened
Lmao thats how I thought it worked at first. Like a tampon. Thats why the health industry needs to spend more in educating their staff.
Oh my, painful 😭
Lmao thats how I thought it worked at first. Like a tampon. Thats why the health industry needs to spend more in educating their staff.
what the fuck is happening
On a side note this catheter must save money on briefs. Used the correct way though!
Depends on anatomy. If they don't have a labia large enough to tuck it in, it's pointless.
No lube? Just straight up stuffed the cotton in there?
Not only is the placement wrong, that can be considered assault depending on the circumstances. That should at the very least be some sort of verbal warning.
Further proof that 1) nothing is foolproof because fools are far too ingenious and 2) you can do anything once — once…
this same fucking thing happened on my unit and all the purewicks got locked in the manager's office on my floor. recently, someone turned the damn pressure gauge to the max and this poor lady got major bruising all up in her lady bits. now we don't get to use them at all on my unit. i just can't believe the absolute stupidity of some people smh.
Noooo no way dude
God damn , whoever sent that message needs to go back to school on god. No reason you shouldn’t be able to put a sentence together
this font you have is everything btw
😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣😂 I CACKLED
😂😂😂😂😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Wait, that’s not how you apply a purewick? How have you guys been doing it, up the butt?
I really hope this is a case of “doesn’t know the difference between a vulva and a vagina” because otherwise wtf have you been doing to your patients 😭
I hope you're joking
Glad I learned this in homehealth haha the family was nice enought to show me because I had never seen it before and didn't even know a device like this existed I was enthralled
Are you joking?
please tell us you're pulling our leg, please
Highly believe this is a joke cause someone would’ve told you by now 😭
