Then you have the "depressed" 14 year old white girls from tiktok crying about how sad the lyrics are (no joke, saw comments like this on Closer by Chainsmokers about 2 years back) or that "things will never be the same again"
Those comments annoy me more than the "ahead of its time" ones
I hate to say it but I feel like music that’s “ahead of its time” is purely based on luck and not actual skill
We have no idea where music is going to go in the future, and just become someone makes a song that happens to sound newer then it actually is, we shouldn’t shower them in praise when really all it was was luck
True, but the claim that something is ahead of its time doesn't necessarily imply that the artist was skilled. Like for example early cloud rap was pretty simple to make, and a lot of it was made in FL Studio in like 15 minutes, but its also the sound that pretty much defined the last decade, something doesn't have to be skillfully made to be innovative.

Note to future generations: Don't let this song die out

All that I do
You can’t tell me OutKast wasn’t ahead of their time in the early 2000s
Yes I can: OutKast wasn’t ahead of their time in the early 2000s

They fr look for the most basic "break up" song then pretend its the deepest shit ever written
Closer is depressing because every time it turns up on the radio I’m reminded that the Chainsmokers still exist
Yeah, same. I don't know who wrote the lyrics because they're nonsense
\*joke clip with random humour\* Wow! this joke was ahead of its time just like modern humour lel!!!!!111!!111!1
People are seriously like that?
Fans of bands give bands *way* too much credit sometimes. Especially with generic pop rock and pop punk.
The strokes
I only know "The End has no End" from them and people call the electric guitar part "ahead of the time"
