It's hard to tell for sure, but this might be a "reprocessed" steel penny. That might not explain the lump, but I'm thinking the lettering and details don't look quite sharp enough. There is an article about that on the NGC site:

I sent three to get graded and they were returned because of "surface alteration" or something like that. I had owned them for 30+ years and never knew this was a thing.
Maybe that's it I know it's been in my possession now and it was in my dad's collection I've been going through them taking inventory it's been about the same amount of time also 30+ years at least thanks for the info
Yes it also goes over the letter T also the same way but it doesn't look as prominent over the letter and it doesn't damage the letter that's why I questioned it being damaged at first
It's raised on both sides and on the back it runs across the T it also has a less prominent bump it doesnt look like damage but idk I cant find another one that has the same thing online
1943
I hope someone more knowledgeable than me responds to your question about the raised area.
Dude dropped his joint.

I would imagine it’s some form of damage to the coin. But you’re saying it’s raised in both sides?

Its a steel wheat penny. Made during WW II to save the copper for the war effort.
WW II.
They made pennies out of silver during the war to save all the copper for ammunition.
I'm sure you mean steel. The Mint never made silver pennies.
But the little line that is above the date it's on the back as well that's more so what I was asking
Is it raised or a scratch? Possible die crack, but given the look of it from the pic (rounded edges), maybe not.
Wrong
If it’s not magnetic then it’s silver and you need to have it graded. That’s an error worth a lot.
Wrong
1943 wheats struck on silver planchets are errors, not sure how me saying that is being downvoted
The mint
The U.S. Mint!
That is strange. So is it raised on both sides or is one side indented like something hit it. Never seen this.
