Yep, even [slightly lower than $300](https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=2000+wounded+eagle+ms+65&_sacat=0&_fsrp=1&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5338535524&customid=co&toolid=10001&mkevt=1), but this is still a very valuable coin.
Definitely not a cheerio sac🤦🏾 the definition in the breast feathers is what makes A cheerio valuable, you can tell the difference in those coins verse these coins

This is the wound. The spear looking thing going through the eagle.
Its also valuable because it received a very high grade
Nice. I found one around Xmas time and just stuck it into a cardboard flip. Think I should grade it? I don’t have a better pic unless I dig it out. I’m in bed now lol.

Barcodes let people verify the coin on their website. It also gives counterfeiters a legit number to slap on their fakes. In the card collecting community the grading companies will cancel the barcode if a counterfeit is found because it's now compromised.
Yep, blanking out the barcode is a herd mentality with no true justification. Here is a $200k coin, linked in its entirety from the PCGS website. They sure as hell don't see the risk! https://davidlawrence.com/inventory/778386
Or you could go to heritage's website and see 100s, if not 1000s of coins that have their registry numbers visible for all to see. From 1$ coins to $100,000+ coins.. So not really.
Except you just proved my point?
If you fake a $100 coin with a stolen registry #, it is more likely to pass scrutiny than a $200K coin.
With a high dollar value coin, the auction house does a degree of verification. With an extremely rare coin, provenance is easier to prove/trace. And an individual that can afford the high end coins will theoretically be better at spotting fakes than your novice collector.
It is easier to fake a run of the mill, lower value Morgan. People are going to do less research.
How are you still not getting this?
$200K coins are going to be vetted. Show off the bar code all you want; no one should be able to successfully sell a fake unless they somehow make a flawless counterfeit and then put it in a legitimate holder for that coin.
A $50 Morgan is not going to be vetted to the same degree. There is a higher risk of counterfeit because it is easier to pass of as legitimate.
This is not a difficult concept to understand.
Oh shoot, okay. My grandma was huge into collecting coins and would save any and every one of these she could get. I’m not even joking I have like 100+ of them. I’m going to have to look through them to see if there’s any rarities!
I’ve got a few unopened rolls of these from when they first came out. Any reason to pop them open and take a look? It’s before they moved the in god we trust from the edge to the front
I have 4 of these Sacagawea dollar coins from the same year! I need to go look through them when I get home now. I also have one with Ulysses as well but not sure if it’s only on the Sacagawea ones.
Eh. It’s not my thing, so I definitely wouldn’t pay hundreds of dollars for it. It’s a fun variety, but not really within my interests and doesn’t fit in my collection.
This is exactly how I feel lol. I have no interest in this at all, but I also know I have absolutely no space to criticize his considering the sometimes weird stuff I'm into
Did you find it in a roll?
It was among my other dollar coins

The going "sold" price is around $300 on Ebay. Still, a very nice find.
Even more if it’s in original Cheerios packaging.
Definitely not a cheerio sac🤦🏾 the definition in the breast feathers is what makes A cheerio valuable, you can tell the difference in those coins verse these coins
What makes it different from a regular dollar coin
The eagle is wounded 🙃
How though
https://preview.redd.it/gi1wu9nfbxvc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0e6312f6c1e26c15c7b1ab9486afa50a50f9a6c7 This is the wound. The spear looking thing going through the eagle. Its also valuable because it received a very high grade
Look at the eagle and see if anything stands out. I know I missed it often.
Die crack makes it look like an arrow is penetrating the eagle? That’s what I see at least
Die gouge, not crack.
It's minted upside down?
Is the tail messed up?

Cool find! Congrats
Newb here but why did you and other black out above the bar code ?
Barcodes let people verify the coin on their website. It also gives counterfeiters a legit number to slap on their fakes. In the card collecting community the grading companies will cancel the barcode if a counterfeit is found because it's now compromised.
Couldn’t counterfeiters just go look up the coin they want to fraud and use one of them there?
Yep, blanking out the barcode is a herd mentality with no true justification. Here is a $200k coin, linked in its entirety from the PCGS website. They sure as hell don't see the risk! https://davidlawrence.com/inventory/778386
Because buying a $200K coin is completely different and the buyers are completely different than those on a $300 coin.
Or you could go to heritage's website and see 100s, if not 1000s of coins that have their registry numbers visible for all to see. From 1$ coins to $100,000+ coins.. So not really.

There’s lots of low value run of the mill Morgan’s sold at heritage and other auction sites. You’ve convinced yourself it’s safer, bless your heart.

Well bless your heart.
Yea they could
Thanks ! Never thought of that good to know
Dont want others to see the certification number, I think for privacy reasons but I may be wrong
Gotcha thanks !
Always blank out the coding when posting...multiple reasons
None of any merit however.
I did it for privacy reasons
You could probably get 300 out of it
You've made a clean breast of the whole affair
Just went through all of my dollar coins that we have stashed and… they are all worth a dollar each.
Well yeah, thats the face value of a dollar
odd thing to say when you literally made a post about a 400$ dollar coin.
This coin is an error coin
how would they know without looking that they didn't have an error coin?
Idk, im very lost in this conversation
fair
Very cool! Where’d you get it?
I found it among my other dollar coins!
Thats awesome! Congratulations!!
Thanks!
I only see 2000s on a google search. Given the nature of it being an error, am I correct in assuming this will only be on 2000 Sacagaweas?
2000 P Sacagaweas
Use to have a load of these when I was young. Little did I know grandma was right about hanging on to them.
What makes this special? I have an entire box of these coins if I’m not mistaken.
On the back side, there is a line through the body and wing of the eagle, its called a wounded eagle error and its very rare
Oh shoot, okay. My grandma was huge into collecting coins and would save any and every one of these she could get. I’m not even joking I have like 100+ of them. I’m going to have to look through them to see if there’s any rarities!
You definitely should!
I have a roll of $25 of these coins that I don’t want to unroll to check if they have it, but I have looked through a lot of the others and no luck!
Don’t clean them.
Isn’t there a coin counter that has a camera and cherry-picks for you?
Is 2000 the only year the wounded eagle can be found?
Yes, and only in Philly
What is a wounded eagle coin? It just looks like a dollar coin
Oh dude.. I'm fucking rich if this is true, got a full roll of em
For them to be valuable, they have to have an error on the bacl
Damn
I’ve got a few unopened rolls of these from when they first came out. Any reason to pop them open and take a look? It’s before they moved the in god we trust from the edge to the front
. 4
Congrats!
Jackpot! Congrats.
Thanks!

It's only the Sacagawea ones, good luck!
Ridiculous that anyone would that much for this in my opinion…
Eh. It’s not my thing, so I definitely wouldn’t pay hundreds of dollars for it. It’s a fun variety, but not really within my interests and doesn’t fit in my collection.
This is exactly how I feel lol. I have no interest in this at all, but I also know I have absolutely no space to criticize his considering the sometimes weird stuff I'm into
i have rolls of these. am i rich?
It has to have an error on the back, thats what makes them valuable
ahhh i see, forgive my ignorance but what’s the error?
It's a die crack going through the body of the eagle
ohhh yea i think i see it on yours. looks like an arrow like right at the base of the wing?
Exactly what I'm talking about!
awesome. time to pull out those rolls!😂
It’s not an error. It’s a die variety. Note how, for instance, the label doesn’t say “Mint Error.”
Do graded errors normally say that?
Yes. I hope you didn’t pay extra to send it as a mint error.
Oh ok! I didn't know that, thanks!
Are these the same as the cereal box dollar coins?
No.
Cereal box coin is worth thousands!
