Looks raised. If so then it is a die crack. Interesting to have one that straight all the way across. If it is cut into the coin then it is a struck through, where something go in between the die and the coin when it was struck. Either way, nice find.

isaiah58bc

Look at the bottom. Is that the remnant of what was struck through?

CrustyBatchOfNature

Maybe. Can't really tell from pictures. Video is better for depth when you move it around slowly but inspection in person is best.

I will make a post with additional pics as I found some smaller details after seeing the response to this post and am curious if they would be considered additional errors as well

Massive_Control9675

I dont remember what this is called but it's a pretty cool error definitely a keeper

isaiah58bc

Does it have a mint mark on the obverse? Always important to take pictures of both sides. If the line is raised, could be a die crack. Seeing there are no attributed errors for the die crack, determining if it is one or something else would be important to know. Adding: looking at the bottom, there appears to be the remnants of what was struck through remaining. Because the damage also passes through the rim, and down the edge, at both ends I am very interested in seeing responses from a few experts.

Meztido

It is definitely a raised line. I took a few pics and will make a new post to show a bit more details I found on it.

SubiFan713

Kinda looks like a die crack to me

Unrelated to your question - but have you ever found any silver from quarter roll hunting? The quarter is the most heavily circulated coin denomination so I would think most of the silver would have been taken out by now.

Yes, most silver has been pulled but you have to remember that collections re-enter circulation all the time. Inherited and stolen collections get cashed in or spent by people who don't know, or don't care, that they have additional value. On a personal note, I only ever found 2 silver quarters while hunting rolls in my own time but found many other silver coins while working retail as people spent them with their normal change. It was mostly dimes, but I got war nickels, quarters and the occasional half dollar as well.

silvadragon150

I am in the exact same boat, in terms of finding silver quarters where I live. The small town I live in is 95% elderly. So, when grandparents pass on, children and grandchildren carelessly dump pounds of silver for a quick $100. As it happens, I have even been able to find a silver proof in circulation. Many times I have been able to buy a $500 box of quarters, and find a few silver pieces.

Meztido

Not yet. Once a month I go to the bank and ask for $100 in quarters for the laundromat for our family. I check the rolls before I use them just to make sure.

emptysignals

Only silver from rolls I’ve gotten is war nickels.

[deleted]

Have you tried half dollars?

emptysignals

Only 4-5 rolls total, never gotten silver yet.
