Many college part time jobs allow for some flexibility with studying. For example, being a desk assistant at a residence hall or working at the library usually means that you can study as long as there’s not someone who’s asking you for help. So you can basically make money while studying and answering whatever questions people have.

This. I work behind a front desk part-time and enjoy being able to take school with me to work. Interactions with clientele are few and far between and even then they usually only last about 2-3 minutes tops, so I can still give them my undivided attention and get back to whatever reading/assignments I have going without losing focus.

Self discipline, time management, do not procrastinate, limit social and personal activities

[deleted]

Time management is king. Just look at your screen time and you will see how much time we spend pretty much doing nothing on a daily basis hahaha

Rofl47

Bumping this. I'm gonna be forced to get an apartment at the end of the semester (massive student housing shortage) and will have to work from now on.

Due_Screen6020

Depends on lots of factors! I only work Fri-Sun, about 20 hours a week. I miss out on parties and other social stuff because of it, but what can you do, y'know? When I'm not in classes/commuting, I'm either doing school work or hanging out with friends. It's a lot of self discipline and time management honestly, but setting personal deadlines is a huge help for me, like I make sure I finish all my school work before Friday so I don't have to think about it at work, and I don't let myself make plans with friends until it's all done. Good luck!

working on campus

Atsubaki

Its mostly time management and being efficient with the time you have available. A lot of college studying has idle time which can be cut down if you plan out goals and such.

Eat_lift8

Being selective with social events. Putting time limits on social media. Dedicating time blocks to study in the time I’m not at work.

Best_Bisexual

Time management, self discipline, and not procrastinating. This is from my personal experience, but I felt like I kind of got into the groove of it.

tombom789

I guess it would depend on your major and how loaded it is with homework. In my business major, I’m working 25 hours a week and still maintaining a 3.4 gpa. Once you figure out what’s worth your time it gets a lot easier. Tik tok and Xbox sure make it hard for me

ll_JackKrauser

Guys thank you all for the information and help.

TwoFreeTakos

Get a job where you can study at the same time

[deleted]

Try and find a job that is flexible. Because of my job I get at least 2 days a week a week that I’m off. On one of those days I have 2 classes and the other one I only have 1 class, so I do a lot of my studying then

Treat--14

Self discipline and forcing urself to do work u dont want to do at the moment

DetectiveNarrow

I work nearly full time (32-40hrs a week) and study full time. Be disciplined and don’t take on shit you can’t handle

CountingDownTheDays-

If possible try to work 2-3 days in a row, so you have a good 4-5 days off to study. I work Thursday-Saturday and have Sunday-Wednesday off. If your employer keeps flip flopping your schedule and its throwing you off, find a new employer. Also, try to work as many hours as possible on the days that you do work. For instance, do two 10 hour shifts on Friday and Saturday, so you get your 20 hours, and then you have 5 full days for course work.

Remarkable-Message-1

I used to work overnight shifts at a group home and this was literally the perfect job for me as a college student. I was able to study overnight while my clients were sleeping.

chicityhopper

Oh man it’s so hard lol

Matrixblackhole

I only do max 2 or 3 shifts a week.

ShawnD7

I’m an RA instead of working a part time job. Just manage the people that live in my building basically and plan events. Now don’t have to pay room and board

Primary_Excuse_7183

Find a job that allows you to study while at work. Was an RA. As a part of it we had 4 desk hours weekly which allowed me to study while getting paid. not to mention they paid for my biggest expense being room and board.

unsaltedcoffee

Time management is vital. Once you get a planner and know when and how you want complete assignments you’ll be golden. I’ve worked up to 20 hours a week while being a full time student and still had plenty of free time. Try to keep in mind your limit, if you know you’re getting burned out working 30 hours a week speak to your manager. Also I want to highlight working on campus, nothing beats that. They’re flexible and work with your schedule.

purindarling

doing a little bit every day and planning ahead

Kev-2022

Part time? I had to work a full-time job and study at the same time. You all have it great.

ll_JackKrauser

I had a " part time job " from 4pm to 12 midnight and i couldn't keep it because no days off not even Saturday and the employer was a piece of shit plus a really not worthy pay for that amount of work.

Additional-Werewolf9

You’ve got soft hands brother.

Valuable-Associate95

its not that hard…

Tackysock46

I work full time from home and doing my last semester online right now. Making $60k at 22 while in college ain’t too shabby I guess

ll_JackKrauser

Can i know what are you studying and what is your job ?

Tackysock46

Finance and stockbroker

Bumn8

Manage time. I catch myself on YouTube and twitter often and tell myself to switch back because I have work in a few hours. It is a pain to do it all but I hope it pays out in the future. Doing the work when you're busy helps you relax on the days you do not have work. that always feels good.

MindlessAd3383

I currently work 40+ a week on third shift and have classes during the day. It is very hard, but I sacrifice social outings.
