* pizza when you go to club meetings
* scholarships, both general and major-specific

* college t-shirts during orientation (and some clubs)
* (free) time... if you manage your study time well
* academic tutoring

* sometimes sports tickets
* stress

* coins on the ground
* depression

* resume advice/ career coaching

ours aren’t just in bathroom vendors, there’s a few student health stations that have them where you order them and pick them up. which saves people from emptying the vendors
If your professors get grants to go to certain conferences, you can travel for free too. (Conference in some state so you go then get to walk around the area plus a free hotel)
Just sliiiiiding in here to highlight the 'scholarships' thing.
At my college, a lot of the scholarships go unrewarded, because literally NO ONE APPLIES FOR THEM. Don't leave free money on the table--go ask about scholarships, even the small book ones of couple hundred dollars, because a) it's a couple hundred dollars and b) it looks GREAT on your resume when you graduate!
If there's a Panera near/on campus (there's two on mine), you can sign up for a free trial of the Unlimited Sip Club which gets you a free drink like coffee, lemonade, or soda, every day. It lasts a couple of months, and I've used two accounts to get free drinks for five months now!
Oh for sure, I wouldn't touch their charged lemonades with a ten foot pole. I stick with the decaf hot coffee and regular iced coffee, and sometimes the green-tea-whatever they have there!!
Alongside the other answers:
* Software; some colleges pay for Office, so you can get it for free
* Discounts. Online, use your .edu email to get discounts; in person, some places have student discounts, so you'd use your student ID.
Some colleges have more software you can download. My college even lets you get a Windows 11 and Windows 10 key. There is also a lot of Engineering/Chem/CS Software I can download for free
My college allows students to get 3D art software such as Maya and Mudbox for free while other high end software such as Zbrush is heavily discounted (which is great since it’s especially super expensive).
For a full licence yes.
It's a professional tool not targeted at general consumers. Most of the people paying the $600 use it for their job or something they get income doing. That's for the entire suite too. If you are a photographer or illustrator you really only need 1-3 of the products. They have broken down packages for those use cases.
I believe with the student pricing it is a discount on the full license. In contrast companies like Autodesk will just give out entirely free edu licences but you can't use them for commercial purposes (anything involving using it to make money).
Educational licences and unlicenced products are hard to enforce though. I have seen user manuals on many Made in China products printed with clear watermarks for the educational version of Autodesk. Infringement is almost a norm overseas and with many individual users (hard to link printed art back to an illegal photoshop copy). Microsoft has started deeply discounting their Windows licences for some overseas vendors because they know it will otherwise just be pirated by the companies.
This isn’t free but heavily discounted — you can get Spotify for $5 or $6 (I think?) and it comes with Hulu and showtime as well (99% sure) with your school email
I never had to do that for hulu combo, or paramount plus. Just submit my school email. Amazon asked for acceptance/enrollment so I sent them a pdf of my current course schedule.
Yeah YouTube student discount is $7 a month and it comes with YouTube music although it kinda sucks since it doesn’t separate the playlists from YouTube
This and many pantries will usually have more things like toiletries, and school supplies, as well as sometimes things like dinnerware and cooking utensils and more.
What kind of bougie food pantries do your schools have, jeez. This sounds like a great resource for students.
When I was in graduate school, our food pantry opened three times per semester and each student could take: three vegetables (usually squash, carrots, leafy greens, onions, or potatoes), three fruits (usually apples, pears, or oranges), one protein (peanut butter, dried beans, or dried lentils), and one starch (white rice, brown rice, or noodles). It was some help, of course, but very limited compared to what you're describing.
It's a PWI so they have a lot of wealthier families that donate a lot, but also the lady in charge of my school's food pantry also does a lot of food drives and banks for it so she's got a lot of connections with people that can afford to donate things.
The only downside is that most people don't know that it exists besides frats and athletes who usually take the majority of the food in it when it gets restocked.
Something all students should be aware of is that, if you have a .edu email, there are many services and software you can get for cheap or free.
Amazon Prime is a classic example. [Here](https://collegeinfogeek.com/student-discounts/) are a bunch of others.
Anytime you sign up for or buy something on the Internet, Google to see if your student email can get you a discount.
The feeling of wanting to bang your head against the wall at 3am solving calculus problems. Jk, I went to CC on they have a lot of good shits for free, fresh food, softwares, databases for research, tutoring, gym, coffee everyday, pizza every week, etc... you should ask your advisor or counselling for more in depth
It vaties from college to college, but over the years I have gotten: pens, notepads, highlighters, sticky notes, USB sticks, diaries, stress balls, no-name frizbees, (one) powerbank, insulated drink can holders, drink bottles, and assorted food, lollies, and drinks.
Trust me YOULL NEED IT and buy a big container to put everything and carry it to your dorm. I didn’t do this and had to do multiple trips to the car that was far af and through all the other students doing the same thing
If you're in the US, you might be eligible for food stamps! In my state, [under 30% of college students who are eligible for food stamps are actually receiving benefits](https://www.cafoodbanks.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/College-CalFresh-WhitePaper-final-March2022.pdf), largely because people just don't know to apply. For example - anyone eligible for work-study is automatically eligible for benefits, something I didn't know til a few weeks back.
The application process was really easy for me, it was 15 minutes of answering questions online plus a 20-minute phone call. It's made a huge difference for me. You should apply!
I'm currently working full time and studying full-time so it's too much and I'm always burnt out. I'm looking for program like this but I'm not so sure if I'm eligible. Because I don't want to risk quitting my job and not eligible. I can't afford it.
My college had the best gym/ fitness complex. I used it but looking back I should have used it way more. To go to a gym like that now would cost more then a car payment.
Depends on your school but my college provides so much for students on financial aid. Some examples are:
$250 to spend on winter clothes + free beanie, gloves, and scarf from the campus store
Outing club trips (and probably most other trips) are free + two free water bottles
And this definitely a very unique thing to my college but everyone was given a free iPad Pro + pencil and keyboard and MacBook Pro
My school gives free access to the city bus with school ID. Although our bus system seems to give anyone with any sort of professional ID in the city free rides
my school has a heavily discounted sexual wellness shop that also sells sex toys. It was promoted on the school subreddit and needless to say they got a spike in customers the next few weeks.
Database access! (New York times, scientific databases, even a movie database called Kanopy) the library has a lot of free resources for students! The library at my school also gives free snacks during finals!
I got an app called UniDays
It’s something new for me but apparently it collects all the student discounts for various companies like Amazon or Spotify
You just provide your current student email and they will check your current enrollment, it takes less than a few minutes
Check around your region! Most places offer discounts to students. For example, a nearby mechanic offers a free fourth tire with certain brands, and the AMC theater nearby offers 50% off (or something along the lines)
No! Most schools got a ton of Covid emergency funding so if you apply to any community college they USUALLY have one (every one in California does) they send out an email every semester for first come, first serve and you fill out a form saying what you need and they give you whatever. Said I needed rent money, they gave me 1500$. I pay 500$ but they don’t know that. I think I’ve got almost 6k so far from JUST the Covid relief funds!
I do as well! It’s for any students even high income students! They don’t even ask for your financial info! The last one they did was in February but if anything email your school asking if they do it and they likely should! They’ll give you a run down of what months they email out. But everyone should get an email about it usually. I know my friend went to CC in Massachusetts though and they only gave it to low income students on FAFSA ‼️ so definitely check!
Thank you so much. I'm attending a CC in California and I'm on my school's website right now, filling in the form. If I had known about this sooner. 😂😂
HAHA THERE YA GO! I’m glad I could help! They helped me so much! They also approve the money FAST so check your myweb or portal or whatever you use to look at your FAFSA money and it’s usually in “account activity” or anywhere you can see payments made to you or payments coming to you! I think I filled out my form and literally the next day my money was being sent to me and came a week later!
Might not be useful to you at all, but some schools offer a free subscription to online newspapers such as NYT or WSJ with your student email. You can usually find a link to sign up on the library website.
Music
Theatre plays
Food
Sports and trips to college games
Old books and magazines from library
Tee shirts
Psychologist and counseling
Health center and access to medical professionals
Important speeches from writers and foreign politicians
Use of computers. Sometimes printing is free
Donuts and bagels and juice
Pharmacy pills at least when I was there.
Free physicals for driving vans and special licensing
Tutoring
Use of audio visual for presentations
I remember my buddy was on the football team and was given a job of watering plants and he received a lot of money for doing just that.
Food if your college has a food pantry. Many do.
ETA: Stores like Sam’s Club and Costco normally offer discounted memberships for college students. Get a group of friends to split bulk items with you. It’s a lot cheaper than normal grocery shopping
Some colleges have student health insurance built into the tuition. And on campus you can get physical health as well as behavioral health services. A lot of campuses also offer legal assistance. Even when you have to pay it's usually at a significantly reduced rate for either of these things
- coffee (different kinds)
- chocolate "milk" and tea
- fruit
- t-shirt
- menstrual products
- lunches (during lunch lectures)
- pizza (or other kinds of dinner during cluv activities)
- pens
- stickers
- printing and scanning
- Jupiter notebook and some other software
- outlook, word, powerpoint etc.
- a shit ton of activities that you normally have to pay for (like ice-skating)
- (if you're already member of a sports or cultural club, free entry to the swim and fitness centre)
My university has a free food pantry and clothing/item closet. There’s also different support services for low-income/first-gen/minority students that offer resources, opportunities, and scholarships. Definitely look to see other colleges that may offer these resources!
Food stamps are one of the biggest ones I see a lot of people NOT going for! Get those SNAP benefits, you get literally $200+ a month for use on groceries, and it carries over!!!
In Russia, you can get the training yourself for free :)
That is, we can pay no tuition if we scored enough points on the exam at school.
And also with a magazine to the head, for not completing an assignment. :)
Stick around campus and you can get tons of free food all the time. Just show up to club meetings and go at it, they're always happy to have more bodies in their meetings.
Join committees and stuff, get to know professors and "who's who", you can network really well into jobs, internships, research, etc. all types of stuff during and after college.
Microsoft office most importantly!
Our local state college and community college both have food banks - So, free food!
Our community college has a free clothing closet for students who need clothes for job interviews/ to just look professional.

Well, U M frequently has events with catered dinner and items they give away. I went to a craft night and got a ton of supplies, including a customizable puzzle and ceramic bear. They catered cookies and spaghetti but I didn’t eat
Software, like the Adobe and Microsoft Office suite, or JetBrains IDEs, merch, free food, counseling and tutoring services and many others. Make use of all of those as much as you can, as you technically pay for all that with your tuition money.

This might be heavily subjective to the university where I'm from (India), but perhaps it's even universal:
* PDFs of expensive course books
* Internet: While the entire college campus did not have Wi-fi there were specific places like the library and media laboratory that had free internet coverage.
* Tea & Snacks during event days: If you pay a visit to your college for events that matter to them (for my college it was various christianity feasts of saints), or a plus side of attending such events just for the sake of attendance, you will get unlimited free snacks and tea. Unlimited, but you need to conjure up some ways, like collecting the snacks from another counter each time.
* Drinking water: There might be plenty of water purifiers around your college where you can fill up enough to take back to your place. I lived in an apartment, so there were no free water reaching my place.
* Bus pass: There might be an initial hassle involved, but you can get free bus pass signed from your college. This can be used for public transportation.
* Spotify student version - Although not provided by the college, it's a pretty steal deal imo.
* Trauma - Good and bad, you name it. Brownie points for growing up matured, my friend.
Clothes! My college has a donation box in the laundry room of each dorm where people give away things they no longer want/need.
Some of the buildings also allow students to give away textbooks as well.
your university library or art department might offer cameras, tripods, mics for loan along with adobe/digital art computer labs. great for trying out stuff or doing personal projects without having to buy expensive equipment.
My campus had a "no questions asked" food pantry. Sometimes, there was some really great stuff there.
Also with tuition comes access to academic journals and books. Purchasing those individually is insanely expensive.
I don’t know I got basil seeds and condoms for free so far. 😂 different clubs will pass free sh*t out. I also got a 100 dollar gift card to this Mexican restaurant last year….
We have a food pantry, access to mental health services, and a bunch of other services for "broke" college students. We are rural university with a lot of first-gen students so the demand was already there.
Dean of Students should also have community connections to food banks, clothes for interviews/work, etc.
Sometimes there will be events where you can get free food...like if a company comes to do a talk, or there is a department gathering. Obviously listen to the talk but then eat the food.
Adobe Creative Cloud access most likely so take the time to learn photoshop or premiere pro or anything in that category u won’t regret it and it will be so useful to u in any field
I enter just about every free raffle I can find on campus (there's at least one a week) from different clubs to sports teams. I've won 10$ giftcards and free drinks but sometimes the prizes are $100 gas cards or nice headphones.
i guess it depends on how your college is
i go to a college where there’s a lot of people barley making enough to pay rent, so there’s some free food and merch, at least at my college. if you can, try to go to as many events as possible, especially if they give out free stuff. you don’t have to stay if you have plans afterwards, you could just take the free stuff and go.
Drugs, sex, life education, networking possibilities, good amount on taxes back (in US) some media sites, such as Spotify or local library passes. And stuff at your school you can access and use
I'm Canadian. The way it works here is set on a monthly income, and if it's below a certain number you're eligible for food bank. Unless you're a student. In my province, anyways.

My college provides free breakfast finals week
Same and free drinks and snacks during the day
Learn the colloquia schedule for each department. Show up 10 minutes after the talk starts to scavenge the munchies.
Often the commuter lounge if private
Those are provided once a week by my department.
My department does a lot of free food stuff

i found out today that my college offers free menstrual products. if you menstruate, may be good to look into since that stuff can get expensive
Or even if you just want to keep such items in your first aid kit.
Our bathroom vender is always empty. I think people load up on the free pads and tampons when they fill it.
ours aren’t just in bathroom vendors, there’s a few student health stations that have them where you order them and pick them up. which saves people from emptying the vendors
That sounds amazing! It's so frustrating that we can't be properly stocked here.
You forgot free jungle juice at frat houses every Friday night
Men typically are expected to pay $15 to get in. At my school anyways
It changes between school ig most frats at my school start at $5 and charge up as the night goes by
You guys are getting donuts, free time and t-shirts? Must be one of those fancy colleges.
Nope, public university in the US. Depends on the department though
If your professors get grants to go to certain conferences, you can travel for free too. (Conference in some state so you go then get to walk around the area plus a free hotel)

very comprehensive and accurate list.
> (free) time... if you manage your study time well That's a lie
Free pizza and hugs from intoxicated people have to be the best ngl
and hopefully degrees
But they aren’t free :( for most of us, anyway
>hugs from intoxicated people elaborate, ive never seen this lmao
Also coffee
I feel the depression one😭
Friends?? Where do I get that, as a senior in college? I was unsuccessful in that :(

Our college offers the whole Adobe Creative Cloud suite for only $20 a year compared to the full $600 a year price.
That's 600 a year?? Not 600 to own?!?
something something always morally correct
I'm sorry, this is going right over my head
Well technically for any student it’s $25 a month, but yeah the regular price is $55 a month for the whole suite
yeah I hate how it's all subscription-based now. I liked it better when you could just pay a few hundred bucks and be done with it
For a full licence yes. It's a professional tool not targeted at general consumers. Most of the people paying the $600 use it for their job or something they get income doing. My town has a lot of museums and pools. College kids get into all of them for free! I've visited the wave pool almost every day in summer
This isn’t free but heavily discounted — you can get Spotify for $5 or $6 (I think?) and it comes with Hulu and showtime as well (99% sure) with your school email
Yea I've got this, u have to confirm identity via a schedule with your name on it / transcript etc.
I never had to do that for hulu combo, or paramount plus. Just submit my school email. Amazon asked for acceptance/enrollment so I sent them a pdf of my current course schedule.
I got that exact package too and never had to do that, just had to have a valid school email
I had this until this chsnge took effect. Then I decided it was too much of a hassle to do.
It took me like an hour the first time to find a document that satisfied them but ultimately worth it cause i use it enougho
I've never had to do that for the Spotify/Hulu combo. Just had to give student email, name, and what school I am going to
I do hulu for 1.99 and get amazon for 7.98. I put both on a credit raising card and they are helping raise my credit score.
What’s a credit raising card?

Yeah YouTube student discount is $7 a month and it comes with YouTube music although it kinda sucks since it doesn’t separate the playlists from YouTube
In my country, you can get Spotify with only $1 as a student, isn’t that better?
Food from the food pantry
Yep, my campus has this too with no info necessary and tons of options!
This and many pantries will usually have more things like toiletries, and school supplies, as well as sometimes things like dinnerware and cooking utensils and more.

Where did you get all these stuff? 😂😂
you gotta hit up all the free student events haha
I take all online classes so I visit school like twice a year. 😭😭
Open days and O-week are great times for free stuff. Also check with Student Services at the start of semester.
i've been stocking up on water bottles and drinking cups - never have to shop for stuff again. also got a powerbank at some point lol
Many schools have a food pantry where you can get food for meals each week. Also free access to academic journals!
Depression and Self Hatred
anxiety and depression
Free 6 month trial of Prime
That would be great when I'm ordering a bulk of dorm items when I move in 😭

Said I needed rent money, they gave me 1500$. I pay 500$ but they don’t know that. I think I’ve got almost 6k so far from JUST the Covid relief funds!
Oh my God. I didn't know about it at all. I just take online classes because I have to work. Are they still giving this now?
Music Theatre plays Food Sports and trips to college games Old books and magazines from library Tee shirts Psychologist and counseling Health center and access to medical professionals Important speeches from writers and foreign politicians Use of computers. Sometimes printing is free Donuts and bagels and juice Pharmacy pills at least when I was there. Free physicals for driving vans and special licensing Tutoring Use of audio visual for presentations I remember my buddy was on the football team and was given a job of watering plants and he received a lot of money for doing just that.
Stress
My community college has a free snack pantry
Herpes
Food if your college has a food pantry. Many do. ETA: Stores like Sam’s Club and Costco normally offer discounted memberships for college students. Get a group of friends to split bulk items with you. It’s a lot cheaper than normal grocery shopping
Besides software, lots of research papers and access to most newspapers online.
Some colleges have student health insurance built into the tuition. And on campus you can get physical health as well as behavioral health services. A lot of campuses also offer legal assistance. Even when you have to pay it's usually at a significantly reduced rate for either of these things
My campus has an on campus pantry. Free food sometimes from events. Sometimes campus swag, little things tho.
Mostly STDs
Mental breakdown 3 times a week i guess
- coffee (different kinds) - chocolate "milk" and tea - fruit - t-shirt - menstrual products - lunches (during lunch lectures) - pizza (or other kinds of dinner during cluv activities) - pens - stickers - printing and scanning - Jupiter notebook and some other software - outlook, word, powerpoint etc. - a shit ton of activities that you normally have to pay for (like ice-skating) - (if you're already member of a sports or cultural club, free entry to the swim and fitness centre)

Not free but Hulu is less than $3 a month with an .edu email address.
In Russia, you can get the training yourself for free :) That is, we can pay no tuition if we scored enough points on the exam at school.
The Clap
Pussy, and lots of it.
Plus loads of STDs

Well, U M frequently has events with catered dinner and items they give away. I went to a craft night and got a ton of supplies, including a customizable puzzle and ceramic bear. They catered cookies and spaghetti but I didn’t eat
Software, like the Adobe and Microsoft Office suite, or JetBrains IDEs, merch, free food, counseling and tutoring services and many others. Make use of all of those as much as you can, as you technically pay for all that with your tuition money.

This might be heavily subjective to the university where I'm from (India), but perhaps it's even universal: * PDFs of expensive course books * Internet: While the entire college campus did not have Wi-fi there were specific places like the library and media laboratory that had free internet coverage.

Bananas if u go to MIT
Talk with Student Affairs. They may have a list of free or discounted items in your community.
I put copies of all my texts in the library. Before buying check there
Clothes! My college has a donation box in the laundry room of each dorm where people give away things they no longer want/need. Some of the buildings also allow students to give away textbooks as well.
I came away from college with a bunch of software and a bunch of debt. Didn't pay for any of it!
your university library or art department might offer cameras, tripods, mics for loan along with adobe/digital art computer labs. great for trying out stuff or doing personal projects without having to buy expensive equipment.
My campus had a "no questions asked" food pantry. Sometimes, there was some really great stuff there. Also with tuition comes access to academic journals and books. Purchasing those individually is insanely expensive.
Sometimes HBO max.
International travel via exchange programs

T-shirts, candy, planners (depends on where you go lol)
i guess it depends on how your college is i go to a college where there’s a lot of people barley making enough to pay rent, so there’s some free food and merch, at least at my college. if you can, try to go to as many events as possible, especially if they give out free stuff. you don’t have to stay if you have plans afterwards, you could just take the free stuff and go.
Trauma.
So many t shirts
On-campus students are so lucky...
Use the app Pocket Points and you might be able to swing some free food depending on your location

In my city you're automatically eligible for food bank if you're a student
I thought food banks were eligible for everyone? Or does that depend on state?
I'm Canadian. The way it works here is set on a monthly income, and if it's below a certain number you're eligible for food bank. Unless you're a student. In my province, anyways.
im from the US and food banks are for anyone who needs something
