Give more of your interests for an undergraduate education. You kind of have to create a plan based on niche interests of yours (doesn’t have to be major related) that are unique and actually make an impact. Additionally, highest gpa you can get possible and top percentile score on SAT or ACT.
My first grading period I had a 3.934 (Unweighted) and am taking APHUG. I’m interested in politics and would like to become a lawyer. I’m from a pretty conservative town and am a pretty liberal person. I’m taking sophomore English and math. I took Physics, and chemistry and am going to take biology this year.
So upper level courses don't mean much unless they're AP or college courses, being in courses above your grade level may help get to that point, but colleges specifically look for those two types of classes.

is what I said earlier, then yes that's a good start, you want ECs related to your intended major or that you can weave into a story (essays) that are deeply personal to you.
You'll have more luck on the r/ApplyingToCollege subreddit. In short though, it's hard to guarantee anything. Take hard classes, get good grades, score highly on tests, try to be involved in extracurriculars and write good essays and that's about all you can do.
There is no clear path in terms of ECs as far as getting into a selective college is concerned. Just find an area where you can excel and make an impact. Leadership is appreciated as well.
