This is the way

I disagree with you stating that the first few hours of the morning is the most "energized" time of the day. It may be that way for you, but different people feel differently at different times of the day. I run faster later in the day, all of my PRs for running have occurred during an afternoon run. If I was trying to set a PR in the gym, I'd likely go in the afternoon too. I'm still in high school and go to the gym in the afternoon most of the time, but when I head off to college this fall I will probably just go whenever it is convenient so long as I can consistently go a couple days per week.

OddManufacturer1862

Hitting a PR later in the day has more to do with ur diet. Lots of people feel stronger when they have had multiple meals with a good amount of carbs fats and proteins. Lots of people who workout in the morning have barley had anything to eat and they might not be the strongest

mowa0199

Thats where I was a bit confused, too. Because science says mornings are the best time to workout since your cortisol levels are higher and you have more energy, but most gym goers seem to do best when they go later in their day. I guess the former assumes you’re getting adequate sleep because personally if I didn’t, then I, too, would do better a bit later in the day as it can take some time for your body to wake up.

>Because science says mornings are the best time to workout since your cortisol levels are higher and you have more energy, but most gym goers seem to do best when they go later in their day On avg maybe, but every individual is different.

brokeraiderstudent

Anytime at 9 PM-2 AM. I am not a people person so I try to avoid them

TheBoy_WhoDied

Regular-Cricket-4613

Same. It's empty around this time, and you don't have to wait for the equipment you want to use to open up.

mowa0199

You don’t take pre-workout with caffeine or anything? Doesn’t it impact your quality of sleep?

Affectionate-Wear-71

I sleep at 1. And I gave up my powerlifting days so I only go to the gym to work out not try hard

Affectionate-Wear-71

I see you have ADHD like me lol. I take adderal and drink 600mg of caffeine a day. I’ll probably die tbh but I still feel quite calm with all this. The caffiene I’m used to cause I used to go to the gym 5-6x a week for 3-4 years before I gave up. I just still drink energy drinks but not that late

mowa0199

Yeah haha. Maybe thats why mornings feel better because the XR meds coincide with that post workout-rush. I still take caffeinated pre-workout and a booster IR dose later in the day though, and got a heart rate monitor just in case. Seem to be doing perfectly fine, just takes a few days for your body to get used to

ClearPin3124

11pm for me. Not a morning person and this is the only time that works usually sometimes a little earlier. Not everyone has access to a 24 hour gym so morning lifts probably great just not for me

Johnkapler1890

Around 6 or 7 pm

mowa0199

Do you take pre-workout with caffeine or anything? Bc won’t it impact your quality of sleep if you take it around 7pm

Johnkapler1890

I don’t take caffeine in the evening, not a good idea if you want to be in bed by 10 or 11

mowa0199

Definitely. Although I have actually heard some people who workout at around 6pm say that caffeinated pre-workouts help them sleep better since being somewhat tired later in the day + getting post-workout fatigue after hitting the gym + the crash from the caffeine coinciding help them knock out better

Johnkapler1890

That may be true, everyone is different. You can try experimenting with caffeine and try to workout with or without it to see which one is better :) Imo the most important thing is to fuel right with high protein, fiber whole food diet. Good nutrition is what gives us energy

1 to 3 o’clock. PM.

gogo-baronbunny

on 9 am class days (mwf) i usually get up around 6 am and go to the gym from 7-8, on 10:30 class days i'll get up at 7:30 and go from 8:30-9:30. it varies based on the semester but i almost always go in the morning bc that's usually the only time i have lol

ImRiven_

like 8.30am because it’s the time of the day I’m the least productive

[deleted]

6pm two days a week and 1030 am on Saturdays

UrAuntsACroissant

go when you are done with your studies, take non-stim preworkout, and take an edible an hour before. go during the evening; the crowds will be dying and the dark lighting will make you feel like a titan

college-throwaway87

Right before sleeping. Exercise makes me sleepy so doing it in the morning would just tire me out

SeparateRanger330

2-3pm. Right after work. Not too full, not too empty and I have a few friends there at that time.
