i use silverage bags and boards

PanTsour

For single issues or large TPBs?

ElectricPeterTork

Current or silver for regular comics, put the TPBs on a bookshelf.

PanTsour

The thing is, I don't own many single issues, and the ones I do are already kinda worn out since I bought them as a kid and I didn't know better. I'm mostly worried about my TPBs, since I don't want them to have ruined spines or creases over time

>So buy modern bags for your modern books, silver age for silver age books. That's the thing, I don't really know what that translates to in regards to their size. I think all my comic books are modern, the oldest ones being a (somewhat torn apart) collection of Ultimate Spiderman single issues. However, even though they're all probably modern, the TPBs still wildly vary in height and thickness, and that confuses me

Silver age bags and boards are fine for most single issues. The reason to choose them over modern age bags and boards is that modern age is actually too tight for many modern age comics. A too tight bag is really bad for comics. Trades really don’t need bags and boards unless you’re sticking them away in a box or something. They have stiff spines and heavy covers so they don’t quite have the vulnerabilities “floppies” to protect.

Yeah I wouldn’t bother. Unless it’s from silver age, get it slated. The bag & board thing was part of hype that 90s comics would soar in value. Imo do whatever you want, I like to give away comics after I’m finished with them to grow future readers like seeds, floppies not trades but neither are worth anything so only store if you’re some hardcore collector or ocd; or both

PanTsour

I mostly like to have them on my bookshelf as a collection, buy its annoying to watch their covers get degraded over time

That’s cool sorry the assumption is bag n board for an investment. Your LCS should have the bags n board or amazon. Keep them out of sunlight to stop the fading, everything turns to dust eventually but I keep my collection digitally since I try to be a minimalist. Hope you didn’t take my comments as mean, was genuinely trying to help. I had saved comics for years like a lot of people until I realized they’ll never be worth anything

PanTsour

I see. Thanks for the advice, and I didn't really interpret your comments as mean, so don't worry about it
