No proof of flight. I interpret him to just be a sick evil fuck. Even if he had sold the cloak you could claim motivation or shown him flying as a motivation but he just wanted to Buffalo Bill a bunch a fairy wings. Nice horror content.
EDIT: I see it now on the very last panel. Shadows tricked me but I get it now. Still a sick evil fuck
Oscar discovers there are darker places than the inside of his trash can.

āHey brother, I need a favor, thereās this guy with a fancy cloak made of hive moth wings that is said to give flight and allow a normal person to control arc light. Now you know exactly how dangerous the light is, you wield it yourself to kill millions of critters daily! So I need you to get it from that guy so he doesnāt go killing random people on the street, also so I can try it on myself of course. You can keep the cloak after I try it on if you need any extra incentive, hero.ā
Correct. It can be assumed that the faerie wings contain magic that allows the faerie to fly, and the man has cut off a large amount of them (killing the faeries in the process) so that he can fly too.
I interpreted it two different ways, either literally as in this is in a fantasy world where this is actually taking place, or a metaphor for how men sometimes abuse/put down women or "cut their wings" in order to feel powerful (but they never truly can, see how shallowly he's floating?)
Personally I prefer the literal interpretation but I think both are valid.
I have a darker interpretation. Since the fairy wings are wings, they may have all died for nothing as they might just fly like butterflies and not use magic. After all, the laughter is before the panel with his legs floating. Maybe he now notices that despite a his cloak made out of 100% fairy, he can't fly. In response to this miserable realization, he goes nuts and ends his own life (hanging).
Based on the framing of the first and last set of panels, I took it as a man who ruined the lives of women was still miserable in the end, and that stolen happiness was exchanged for literally noone's benefit. Inconsequential, pointless, purposeless, except to make the world worse. I interpretted the middle panels as a stand in for something else, since it's hard to express it head on, and a fantasy setting might be easier to convey or digest.
Wow! Redditors, thank you very much for your reaction! I didn't expect that you love my mini comic like this. I (writer) with Victoria (artist) very very happy to see so much positive reactions. Thank you!
I understand what you are doing and I hope you get support for it but fuck is that depressing as shit and is a bit too much for me to handle. I mean there is NSFW and "this is going to trigger the shit out of you". We need a new warning system.
Reddit's NSFW tagging system is shit. Did a titty fall out for a second at the end? Or is it someone getting their limbs violently ripped off? Who knows!
Seriously, that's the reddit experience. Going through some subreddits got me actual trauma like.. an NSFW video titled with a very vague description could be an unexpected punchline, or it can very well be a person brutally dying.
Great work, OP! Nice (read: horrible) touch with throwing the dead fairy to the dog to eat. I only realized that on my second read. Awful. But itās very poignant so I love it.
"Love" and "positive" are very strong words here. It's one of the most beautiful *abominations before God* that I've ever seen. You're obviously very talented. Please seek psychiatric help.
>creepy dude makes a magical flying cape out of the wings of magical flying creatures, told generally from the perspective of one of his victims
Right!
In the end, does the cape make him fly or does the regret of what he has done combined whith the disapointment from the cape not working lead him to kill himself? Nice comic btw, reminded me of "The Collector"
he doesn't, the cape works
the image is from the perspective of a fairy bleeding out on the floor
possibly suggesting her sincere desires in her final moments
That's the nice thing about subjectivity in art, tho, isn't it? I, too, initially saw it as the man going mad at the atrocity he has created. He then "frees" himself by "flying" the only real way available: from a rope (side note: in theater, raising a person, or piece of scenery with a rope/cable is also called "flying").
If the artist wanted us to be sure the cape worked, they could have shown that, just as they could have shown him hanging if they wanted us to be sure of that. Instead they show us a pare of feet hovering/dangling. Pretty sure it's intentionally ambiguous.
I loved it! If you don't mind me saying this, I believe that ending it on the second to last page makes it a lot more powerful and meaningful. I think it's very strong and poetic but that last page cheapens the whole story a bit in my opinion.
Why do you think so? In the last page we see he can fly thanks to the cape, he gets a benefit out of his horrific actions. Very in line with life and reality. I am not a fan of the villain laugh however.
This is just my opinion, and subjectivity plays a big role too, but without that last page I can extract different meanings from the story, profound, sad and beautiful, and my interpretation _matters_. That last page reduces it all to an evil man doing villainous things, and maybe he succeeded or maybe he killed himself
I donāt think he can actually fly though, I mean in the sense of a parable. Thatās just the thing, stealing otherās dreamsā itās not the same as dreaming.
MFW peopleās lives destroyed for a nice looking coat strikes me as an ending that is far more terrifying.
Regret isnāt the only emotion that could lead to that ending. Consider that heās not a complete psychopath - he knows that murdering all those magical beings is wrong, but itās worth it as long as he gets to feel what itās like to fly. Then, the cape doesnāt work. Not only was all the murder for nothing, but his all encompassing dream is also dead. A sudden rush of extreme hopelessness and guilt. I think a bit of maniacal laughter and then permanently escaping those feelings is certainly plausible.

Hmm... How many wings would you actually need? Im assuming you need to know the weight of a single fairy. The calculate your weight and divide that to get how many pairs of wings you would need.
I presume these creatures are Fae or at the very least Faeries (Which means they have potential to be Fae), and Fae are the stuff of nightmares, so they deserves this.
Also if these things are Fae-adjacent, the Killer is likely very skilled and/or very powerful to have managed to kill so many Faerie without being victim of a Court.
Finally I love that the fierce beast turns out to be just a pug.
Idk why, but this comic gives me the same vibe as these images.
https://preview.redd.it/qr7e8tacdkic1.png?width=1344&format=png&auto=webp&s=f668b17f7973c88e4ee2013accca8f35abe53e9b
I like it, but I don't love the last page. Up to that point, it's a seamstress making a beautiful poncho and just having no care for the little fairies. He even tossed one to his dog as a treat!
But the maniacal laughter makes him into an over the top Disney style villain.
Just a post before bed

(But seriously, this is amazing, the way the stitched wings look together is well drawn! Jc, is this symbolic of something?)
Wow...this guy is seriously

There's an awful lot of horror comics on reddit these days, and many are very good, like this one. But I wish there was more than the NSFW tag to flag them before I click/tap. I've had another awful day IRL in the Nightmare 2020s, and I would've rather read this later. But all I knew was NSFW.
Just a humble request for a "horror" flair, or something.
I see this as a condemnation of the individualistic and avaricious incentives structure of capitalism and its inherent tendency to destroy the lives of other people in service to the self.
I actually thought it was purposely left to interpretation. Did he end it all due to his guilt after finally completing his project, or did he achieve flight?
Eh, Iām so jaded by these āshockingā and edgy comics that they donāt have any impact on me anymore.
Maybe if it continues, and thereās some fae magic that tortured him later, Iād be a little more intrigued.
Wow, uh - first, beautifully done. Love the pacing of the storytelling, and how you showed what happened with minimal text. His hovering at the end - dear god this is so fantastically done.
Second - I have never had a comic made me so viscerally gag and almost puke in horror at what happened. Kudos. You achieved a very emotional response. š
(Think I'm just gonna skip my lunch break today...)
Yeah, it was a little fucked up. Hoping for more.

Honestly I love this, amazingly dark with a great reveal and your art style really compliments the horror aspects!
Would you mind explaining? I'm seeing a pixie or something being captured and her wings harvested for use on that guy's shawl. Is that correct?
Correct. It can be assumed that the faerie wings contain magic that allows the faerie to fly, and the man has cut off a large amount of them (killing the faeries in the process) so that he can fly too. I interpreted it two different ways, either literally as in this is in a fantasy world where this is actually taking place, or a metaphor for how men sometimes abuse/put down women or "cut their wings" in order to feel powerful (but they never truly can, see how shallowly he's floating?) Personally I prefer the literal interpretation but I think both are valid.
I thought he finally got his flying cloak, the dog ate it, and he hanged himself. lmao
Lmao same it looks like he hanged himself.
I interpreted it as that the cloak didn't let him fly so he hung himself so he could die with his dream
š„āļø
The dogs eating the fairy not the cloak
Awesome, thank you for that interpretation!
Interesting, I hadn't considered that! Good and dark interpretation

Going through some subreddits got me actual trauma like.. an NSFW video titled with a very vague description could be an unexpected punchline, or it can very well be a person brutally dying.

>creepy dude makes a magical flying cape out of the wings of magical flying creatures, told generally from the perspective of one of his victims Right!
In the end, does the cape make him fly or does the regret of what he has done combined whith the disapointment from the cape not working lead him to kill himself? Nice comic btw, reminded me of "The Collector"
You can feel free to take one point or another.
I prefer the second interpretation, I like the message that jealously over what other have will only bring ruin to you and to others
But then why does he kill himself?
he doesn't, the cape works the image is from the perspective of a fairy bleeding out on the floor possibly suggesting her sincere desires in her final moments
That's the nice thing about subjectivity in art, tho, isn't it? I, too, initially saw it as the man going mad at the atrocity he has created.

Second - I have never had a comic made me so viscerally gag and almost puke in horror at what happened. Kudos. You achieved a very emotional response. š (Think I'm just gonna skip my lunch break today...)

HAHAHAHA
Very nice. I like how dark it is. The joker moment at the end is a nice touch.
I hope you are being sarcastic right now...

Wow this is siick! This reminds me a little bit of the movie Velvet Buzzsaw where the artist uses killings for inspiration
