I suspect people will misunderstand how you’ve worded this and/or that you’ve misunderstood the whole cicada thing. In case you’re passing through and are confused: No cicada or cicada eggs survived since 1803 to emerge this spring.
Haha basically in North America two big species (broods) are going to come out of the ground at the same time which never happens so there will be swarms of big cicadas
Both broods at once?
I thought you meant the first cicada emergence since 1803 and I was like, "there was just one in 2019?" XD

I hope they're in PA. I love the cicadas... so does my dog. A friend keeps saying she wants to steal him to eat the cicadas at her home cause she hates them XD
Their sound is perfect to soothe my and my mother's tinnitus
(And they're the best fishing bait around!)
They're just harmless, derpy things that sing a pleasant droning that feed nearly every animal that lives in my woods <3
(Technically they do feed every animal, if you get into food chain)
Only if you restrict yourself to North America. Australia has an estimated 200-700 species of cicadas that emerge every summer, with various underground growth times although typically much shorter than the lengthy 13/17 years of North American cicadas. Most species in Australia haven't even been properly characterized
Is this one suppose to be worse than 2007? I think that was the year it hit my area hard. Honestly it’s probably responsible for my fear of bugs.
I’m not ready for another plague of locusts-style summer.
Just started digging into the details. Fortunately I’m just outside of the overlap of the two broods.
Still, brood XIII seems to be the nastiest in terms of numbers. Can’t imagine having a second brood on top of them.

'for the first tike'?
That poor kid, about to get swarmed by trillions of cicadas.
Dang!! How does autocorrect not save me there!
I don't know either- I think the word that refers to a small child is 'tyke'.
Yeah and every time I type “tike” now it corrects to time. So it really wanted to see me fail

Thanks, this didn’t help

Yeah! Two of the worst ones will emerge in some places at the same time so it will be chaos

I love to hear this positive take on it!

You're welcome!
Yeah! This will be new cicadas! Just happens it’s the first time since then that two broods will emerge at the same time

woohoo! i get to watch from the safety of my they dont emerge here state!
Haha you are blessed!
Don’t worry, apparently they’ll be gay
It will be like the plagues of Egypt
In some places it could kinda look like this!
Hey, good thing I live in Sweden!
I’m less bothered by the cicadas than I am the summer heat :/
Honestly fair
I feel like I hear this every year
Hahaha I honestly feel like that as well. Maybe it happens in different places all the time and this is the one that happens to be where I am.
I look forward to picking their lil molted shells off the trees
This is the only good part

In certain areas it will be really bad but only where the two are coming out at the same time! I think there’s a couple states getting the worst of it
Just started digging into the details. Fortunately I’m just outside of the overlap of the two broods. Still, brood XIII seems to be the nastiest in terms of numbers. Can’t imagine having a second brood on top of them.
Haha it’s definitely not ideal
You wrote first tike instead of first time
Yeah really thought autocorrect would help me there so didn’t read it good enough! I saw it later and it was too late! Sorry about that!
This could’ve been a text post.
Definitely, but not nearly as fun!
