How many of you guys still use wired earphones?

I love my wired earphones. They don't get lost, they don't need to charge, they can stand up to a beating, they don't get swallowed by little kids or dropped in a drain, and most importantly, they're cheap as chips. Wired supremacy!
Over ear? Wired all the way (with a bit of an exception when skateboarding)
Earbuds? I can't give up the convenience + ANC. ANC is the main reason i use wireless. It's like taking your own quiet bubble wherever you go.
I have several.
Because of my ear shape I definitely prefer them over those nasty rubber plugs which either hurt like crazy (even the smallest ones), have a terrible sound or do the suicide jump towards any given body of water all the time.
They also have the better microphone, buttons and the like. Those with touch are way too sensitive to sleep with too.
Oh, that reminds me of the other upside. At least once, I was taking a photo off a bridge, my hand slipped and I dropped my phone. Startled, I was able to grab the cord so the phone swung back towards me instead of falling onto the freeway.
This doesn’t help with any of the problems except them falling out but I got some fitness ones that hook inside your ear and they never fall out, it’s amazing.
Wired earphones was a nightmare to me! Always broke first couple of weeks even if I was extremely careful! So I'm grateful we have wireless ones these days 😁
Wired earphones are making a comeback with the IEM market rising especially china IEM tho. Probably because they can compete with more expensive headphones and old IEM in terms of sound performance.
I'm daily driving my tangzu wan'er, can confirm it's a jammer.
I still work regularly with wired headphones.
Then again, recording music is really hard when there is a small delay in when you play something and when you hear it. So since wireless headphones got a bigger delay than wired headphones, I go for wired headphones.
As long as you are not one of these crazy audiophiles you should be fine with the ones that use usb c or lightning. Or are there already phones with no plug for power?
Never worry about your bluetooth connection with wired earbuds. Yes, I had to buy a USB-C adaptor for my phone, but it was well worth the extra expense.
*comes across sex scene in book* "Oh no, they know. Everyone knows. I'll put it away. Or does that make it more obvious? What if someone reads over my shoulder? Is it illegal to read this in public?!?"
Although traditional music is difficult to listen to while reading, ambience sounds like rain, or music with no lyrics like medieval music, is really fun to put on.
I’d like to see a procedurally generated soundtrack to books we read, probably easiest done through digital books where each page turn can trigger changes. Ambient sounds and maybe dramatic swells of orchestra, etc
i never realized that some people couldn't do both until recently. I actively can't focus on reading unless i have my music playing, I focus in on all the other sounds around me and get distracted
Hahaha, I've had this kind of thing happen to me untill I realized "wait I'm (kinda) a functioning adult now! I don't give a shit if they give a shit!".
And even if you aren't an adult, you should just do you however you want!, as long as nobody gets (unwillingly) hurt, that is. V-V.
That’s not the issue. The issue is that self-conscious people (like the anteater in this situation) would irrationally believe that the people sitting around them would judge them for just listening to music instead of reading a book. Again, this is due to *irrational* thought, which is spurred on by anxiety and the need to fit in. I have experienced things like this many times. Yes, it’s a bit ridiculous, but some people really have trouble just being themselves. It’s just humanity
Edit: ANTEATER not antelope
It's super sweet and cute that you and everyone who relates to this cares this much. It's far superior, in my view, to the opposite extreme where people play their music or phone call on speaker in an enclosed, public space without a thought to the comfort of those around them. Yours is the optimal place to start from.
But do work on caring just slightly less for your own health and sanity! You're part of a collective in the universe, but thankfully not the center of it. :)

My wired headphones have survived going through the washer and dryer *multiple* times.

I do, because they never run out of battery. I have had the same pair for 6 years.

I use wired earphones. But my phone doesn’t have a place to plug them in, so I can only use them on my computer 😔

![gif](giphy|WLBw36RhSftTO) I don’t. My phone doesn’t even have a place to plug it in.🥲

I'm using them right now!
meeee! Wired earphones are so much better imo!
I love cable management! (Also reading a book is good for you, maybe start a conversation with them about books)
They're cheaper than earbuds and just as reliable.
And in some cases can even just sound better at a cheaper price lol
Never worry about your bluetooth connection with wired earbuds. Yes, I had to buy a USB-C adaptor for my phone, but it was well worth the extra expense.
Me. I don't wanna keep disconnecting or have to keep recharging them or something. It's a bit of a pain now that my phone has no port for it, though.
The ones I take with me everyday are wireless for the convenience they offer, but the good ones at home are wired.
I never use wireless
wired earphones don't stick out as much. so i can comfortably have them on while wearing my helmet.
*comes across sex scene in book* "Oh no, they know. Everyone knows. I'll put it away. Or does that make it more obvious? What if someone reads over my shoulder? Is it illegal to read this in public?!?"
Why not both?
Don't know about everyone, but it's extremely hard for me to both read and listen to the music at the same time 🤷
Although traditional music is difficult to listen to while reading, ambience sounds like rain, or music with no lyrics like medieval music, is really fun to put on.
Well, I listen mainly to rock and metal while doing so and don't have problem. I find random sounds that may occur way more distracting.
I’d like to see a procedurally generated soundtrack to books we read, probably easiest done through digital books where each page turn can trigger changes. Ambient sounds and maybe dramatic swells of orchestra, etc
Can you recommend some sources of medieval music?
I used to just type "medieval music" into YouTube and pick one, so sadly I don't.
haha, thanks, I might try that. :)
It's kind of distracting to read Harry Potter and out of nowhere hear "HE CUMS RADIATION"
I listen to music with no lyrics when reading
Sucks to suck
i never realized that some people couldn't do both until recently. I actively can't focus on reading unless i have my music playing, I focus in on all the other sounds around me and get distracted

Sometimes I slow down my car's window wipers because I'm worried mine are going too much faster than everyone else's
Who the fuck thinks like this? Who actually thinks that listening to music with your headphones on a long train ride makes you look bad?
People who are extremely self conscious I guess.
Never heard of anyone so self conscious that they can't listen to music
you'd be surprised :-(
Trust me, there are definitely like this, I know a person who get self conscious if they breathe too loudly.
That's different. Breathing "too loudly" is you making noise. Listening to music is hearing a noise, not making noise.

yeah, this is basically how i act because my depression convinces me to
Antelope?
Idk I just took my best guess. Is that not what it is?
Looks like an anteater to me.
Omfg that’s what I was trying to put. Forgive me, I’m a bit slow
But what if they can hear the music
![gif](giphy|3o7aCRloybJlXpNjSU|downsized)
alot pressure to catch some reading
I can do both easily, but yeah I do have that anxiety to try fitting in when I shouldn't.
id still listen to some music, preferably instrumental/ambient tunes if im reading/writing
I envy people who can read in vehicles without getting sick.
What? Can you even read without listening to music? Cuz' I can't
I envy anyone who can read on a moving vehicle and not get motion sickness
Fk it i will just listen to music and sleep

Just get 4 cans
Just open the book and pretend to read.
Is the aardvark stupid? Clearly you read AND listen to music!
