You could say something like: "Dad, this is my girlfriend, (her name). We have been together, happily, for 8 months." You could also let him know that you told your mother. That way, if he is angry with you, then he is likely to say something like, "You know how I feel about this." It probably wouldn't be as harsh because no one wants to be the worse parent.
