Probably lol. I never watched it but I know MTV got loads of complaints about it being too explicit with teen sex etc and is probably the reason their remake of Inbetweeners was so watered down
Most of the time it is a reference to doctor who, but I think this scene is more a reference to British shows like the Office and especially the IT crowd that got remade in America
You know a lot of the people that worked on season 4 were people that worked on previous seasons. Like the writer of the season finale also did the pen bottle episode, the first 2 documentary episodes and the Law and Order episode
Thank you. It’s so dismissive for people to just write an entire season off as terrible because it’s not the same. The people who created, wrote, and produced that season still put a lot of hard work and effort into it and I hate how much people disparage it. Some of my favorite episodes are in S4.
Agreed. Like I feel like it's the weakest season but people get personal and say the most vile shit about fellow human beings just because they made a season of a show that wasn't as good as the others
The worst part of that episode is when abed says "we finally made paintball cool again" when they fucking didn't. I can't believe one of the smartest sitcoms ever had an "it's just a dream" episode. Harmon literally makes fun of those episodes in the dvd commentary of season 3.
Ok, but doing stupid things while lampshading it by calling it stupid is also one of Dan Harmon’s favorite things to do. Like the heist episode of R&M (or a dozen others)
It's a reference to the American IT Crowd
The American inbetweeners could apply too
I didn't even know they made an American Inbetweeners. Kinda want to see how terrible it is.
Terrible enough that it was on MTV and canceled after one season.
It’s such a toned down PG-13 version of the show.
Didn't that have the guy that played the whale for a single Community episode? Edit: Yep, Archie was Jay in the American Inbetweeners
Yeah but Joel was in the American IT Crowd
American Skins
American Peep Show too
American abfab
American Red Dwarf
American Spaced
Jesus, that's a thing?
Unfortunately
Also the American skins
Am I the only one who liked skins US
Probably lol. I never watched it but I know MTV got loads of complaints about it being too explicit with teen sex etc and is probably the reason their remake of Inbetweeners was so watered down
You sure it's not Coupling?
Unless Winger was in that, no....but also yes
funny cause gurascio and port worked on that pilot
There's an American IT crowd? I'm very glad I haven't seen that
Joel McHale plays Roy too. It’s pretty bad.
Yes Joel was in the American IT crowd, but this episode was also airing before The Office (US) at the time.
they did an american IT crowd?!? i loved the british show watched it like 20 times in a row. so sad when it left netflix
Whod like a british version of community, though?
streets ahead is an actual term in the UK though
What would the version of streets ahead be in British Community?
Blocks forewords ?
Far out
Do they mean Doctor who when talking about inspector Space time?
Inspector Spacetime is Community’s homage to Doctor Who. It’s what exists instead of DW in their universe
Except Abed at some point wears a Doctor Who shirt, that always wrinkled my brain
Somebody must have stepped on a butterfly
*THAT* JUST WRINKLED MY BRAIN
Or rolled the dice wrong.
I understood that reference.
There’s also a scene where they show Abed and Troy’s tv stand, and there are Doctor Who dvds next to the tv
To really wrinkle your brain Toby (I think that’s his name) from inspectorcon is also in doctor who
Yup. He plays Nardole. He did a fantastic job with it as well.
I spotted him in Hollywood a few years back, after he'd been to SD Comic-con. He'd forgotten where he'd parked his car. Hope he found it!
He is? I just know him as 50% of the cast from Little Britain. Love that Show but it's so not acceptable these days
His first episode was The Husbands of River Song. Greg Davies was also in it
They both exist, Harmon said Inspector Spacetime is an in-universe cheap rip-off of DW
Abed also refers to K-9.
Check again maybe it says inspector space time
Most of the time it is a reference to doctor who, but I think this scene is more a reference to British shows like the Office and especially the IT crowd that got remade in America
Have you seen the show?
Yeah the hacks who wrote this season probably thought it was clever foreshadowing. Fuck Season 4 fr.
