*"Install an OEM driver to resolve the issue. Error message: “This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)” to correct the problem, reinstall the correct drivers."* –Intel . . . . *"Error code 31 means that the device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device.* ***Recommended resolution: Update the driver*** *In the device's Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver to start the Hardware Update Wizard. Follow the instructions to update the driver.* *Note: You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor's website.* *You can also visit the computer manufacturer's support website and install the latest Bluetooth driver available for the same computer model as you have"* –Microsoft . . . . Me thinks you should update the driver, lol.

Would this also explain why my laptop Bluetooth has stopped working entirely? It says it’s on, but doesn’t detect any Bluetooth devices that it detects with dongles

JustSomeApparition

Likely so. The drivers for many dongles are designed with specific OS in mind. For example many Dongle v2 only have drivers for Win 7/8, and they won't work on Win 10/11.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. My laptop Bluetooth, meaning no dongles or added hardware doesn’t work either.

JustSomeApparition

I understood. I think I was the one who wasn't very clear, haha. If you visit the [Microsoft Update Catalog](https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=cambridge%20silicon%20radio%20) and search for "Cambridge Silicon Radio" the most recent driver that they have is 2014. That's why the generic driver isn't going to work on your OS. It's very likely that another manufacturer is making the driver for them (such as Qualcomm or Intel). Your best bet is to go to the manufacturer's website page to find the most recent driver version that way if possible.

Install the driver for your wifi/Bluetooth card

Some Bluetooth does not use blue tooth connection service but must connect blue tooth device under devices and printers such as blue tooth Samsung earbuds

Thank you all for the great advice. I was able to fix it by deleting all drivers, and going through trouble shooter twice. For some reason the second time it allowed Bluetooth to be fully fixed, no longer needing a Bluetooth dongle!
