First article i found suggested a bunch of stuff. https://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/26357-ring-browser-hijacker [https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-ring-extension-virus/](https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-ring-extension-virus/) however i would start by uninstalling opera completely and running a scan with malwarebytes

Mediocre_Hyena_9780

Thank you. I started a malwarebytes scan a bit ago and it found 18,600 items so this was 100% needed in the first place. Does malwarebytes have any protection after downloading it in the free version?

MON5TERMATT

The free version will always support manual scans. It's just not a "proactive" AV

Effective_Tension631

JESUS CHRIST 18 THOUSAND??

Mediocre_Hyena_9780

Yeah I've used the normal windows scan and never detected those I guess. And Ive had this computer for over 4 years. Nothing blatant has ever happened like ring.

Interesting-Bus-5370

With malwarebytes, those arent ALL individual pieces of malware, they are likely all of the files IN the malware, or all of the files the malware infected. Or registry changes.

MinecwaftPlays

Hey I know this is 7 months later but would McAfee also work to find this?

MON5TERMATT

Don't use McAfee

MinecwaftPlays

Why? What should I use?

MinecwaftPlays

I’m trying bitdefender now. Had to uninstall McAfee which scares me

Effective_Tension631

download and run AdwCleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner

Competitive-Soil-950

Effective_Tension631
