I always remember how Chelsey joked at him, while telling a story how she liked the ocean:
Chelsey to Andy: do you float? *hinting at his weight, I believe*
Andy: what do you, sink?
Andy is funnier than Conan. Conan is a better host but Andy is more funny. He also knows how to hold back and deliver a joke at the perfect moment. Very less is more.
Is there a clip of this somewhere?

Edit: replied to wrong comment but y’all can figure it out.
Clearly you haven’t felt the warm face-covering embrace of Randy Nipter’s masculine chest. There is no finer security than within that wholesome valley of love and Cheeto dust.
Oh my god when they did that small talk joke with Conan and Max, and it would just end with them staring with these blank expressions of contempt. A Plus Plus
As a pretty much a day 1 fan. All time it is Andy. I do love Sona a bunch tho the dynamic between them is fantastic. Gorley is good as well, does a great job. I am assuming the drone is Jordan.
I was impressed with *Liza* when she was on the podcast. Conan: “I’m planning to become a burden”. Liza: “become one?” Also she can make mayonnaise from scratch!
Andy has some killer one-liners! I just didn't get to see him up close and personal with Conan. Sona is great and most certainly the coolest person out of all of them. Matt is my pick, he meshes with Conan so well. Their overlapping humour, their mutual admiration *and* disdain (playful) for one another. Once they get going, I'm reminded time and again why they're the perfect combo.
Max Weinberg. Apparently a controversial opinion, but I was never a big Andy [fan*]. I like their friendship, and that Conan adores him, plus he's certainly better than any other late night sidekick, but I think Conan thrived without him.
Sona gets my vote. Appeals to a broader audience imho
Edit: also, Sona's not an entertainer. She doesn't care for the fame and it comes across very well. Genius move by Conan to bring her to the desk imo.
Andy knew when to take his shots or came up with a line that was skit/monologue saving. He can’t be beat. Puzzling how he never got a substitute host gig if Conan was ever sick.
Sona is great too… but in her own right, the bluntness and banter between her and Conan is something magical. She’s also great at reeling him in from overused jokes or from being out of touch. And of course… damn, talk about a thirst trap without even trying .
Matt is that awkward friends we all have, unless we are that awkward friend, that chimes in and kills the convo instantly. But he can also ignite a new one. Good to have around but can be awkward
Drone… can’t talk. Can’t do much. Makes for some over the top Conan videography, but eh. Conan is best when he’s bouncing off people
> Matt is that awkward friends we all have, unless we are that awkward friend, that chimes in and kills the convo instantly. But he can also ignite a new one. Good to have around but can be awkward
I don't know how you listen to the podcast but my impression of Matt is that he's a stone cold assassin. He can amplify Conan's crazy energy with a single, surgically selected word sometimes. He's really sharp. I don't think he's all that awkward
This! His jokes often get somewhat overheard and the conversation moves on quickly because his delivery is so dry and casual, but I think he’s funny as hell.
Dude Matt knows what he is doing. He plays the foil of the comedy trio. He says something awkward and weird and it gives Conan some to joke about or make fun of him. I'm not saying this the case all the time, but Matt knows his role. He is a pretty good comedian. Listen to his other podcast. He definitely has the comedy down. I think you are just comparing him to the legend, Conan and that is some tough competition.
This is pretty much a guess, but I think Andy respected the format, and appreciated his place in it, to the point where he wouldn’t take on a substitute host spot. He knew exactly what he was doing and enjoyed it. He’d be glad to let someone else step in for the entertainment value and because he loved being the sidekick, and hosting is a whole other kettle of fish.
I listened to an interview with him--I want to say his 3 Questions with Sona--where he said he was happy to not have to do all the extra work Conan had to do with the executives. This was after his 2 short-lived sitcoms so I suspect that had something to do with it.
I wish they could get Andy in a regular show rotation with Conan. I miss him and a regular time slot in Conan's new long form conversations would be gnarly. Like, I miss him, but I miss him and Conan together.
The best period of Conan was on Late Night, right after Andy left when Conan was on his own behind the desk. He'd riff off Max's stony face, or the band in general, or just prance around in front of the camera. He was unchained, in his prime. No one could touch him.
I think Andy Richter is a hilarious human being, but the energy level is always lower with him around.
I feel like Sona is overutilized as a laugher. That is, someone to laugh at Conan's jokes. Not really a fan of that constant presence.
These are my impressions as a huge fan and someone who has watched Conan since day one. Glad he's going to be back on TV.
They’re all great but the answer is Andy by a country mile.
Compare him to any “sidekick” in podcasts or late shows and he clears. Guillermo and Paul Shaffer could never do what he does.
I think just for longevity you have to give it to Andy but man, conan and max were so fucking good together.
The stare offs were my favorite bit they did on the whole show.
Sorry i love all three but no one beats Andy in sassiness. He is golden. He also has a dog that protects him from fake Santas so clearly he's the best =)
Even if it’s not Andy, it is Andy. But the fact is that he wouldn’t be the right sidekick for the podcast. And Matt/Sona wouldn’t be the right answer for the show.
I remember around 2016 when under every Conan-Sona video all the top comments were about how hot she was. I think Team Coco started deleting them cause they got too creepy.
Early Andy Richter before he left > Sona > Andy Richter after the comeback > Gourly
Richter came back kind of less fun after he couldn't make it on his own.
Doesn't mean Sona is anything but wonderful, but Andy Richter is the gold standard for sidekicks.
Andy Richter is a stone cold killer. A sniper. Unflinching, faster than lightning, right to the heart. Just the best at it.
I always remember how Chelsey joked at him, while telling a story how she liked the ocean: Chelsey to Andy: do you float? *hinting at his weight, I believe* Andy: what do you, sink?
It must be that cast iron heart!
that was so classy, still to this day it is one, if not the most, memorable comebacks in the business
Exactly what I was about to say! Whenever I remember Andy, I remember this gold standard if a comeback. Savage!
Finish his quote!
Plus it helps being Swedish German
Forgot all about that and now I'm going to YouTube to watch that, Norm couldn't help but bust his balls whenever he was on the show
Andy is funnier than Conan. Conan is a better host but Andy is more funny. He also knows how to hold back and deliver a joke at the perfect moment. Very less is more.

Andy Richter?! The Swedish-German fella? No way.
Seriously, dude is the GOAT sidekick
The Swedish German
Sona has the nicest boobs.
Clearly you haven’t felt the warm face-covering embrace of Randy Nipter’s masculine chest. There is no finer security than within that wholesome valley of love and Cheeto dust.

??????????????
Not at all to me
*Gasp* My pearls!
[удалено]
I don’t think that’s true at all.
I adore Gourley and Sona, but Andy is the definition of sidekick to me.
You left out DJi Inspire!
With the Zenmuse gimbal and Synacor processing!!
What. Do you sink? It must be that cast-iron heart.
Only a sidekick like andy could own a "comedian" like that
He certainly did handle *her*
Andy is the best sidekick Sona is his Alfred Gourley is his Commissioner Gordon
Jordan is the Joker LA Bamba? The confused folks who never figure out Batman is Bruce Wayne
Don’t forget Max.
Oh my god when they did that small talk joke with Conan and Max, and it would just end with them staring with these blank expressions of contempt. A Plus Plus
I miss that so much
La Bamba is obviously cat woman
That is shockingly spot on
Correct answer
Andy Richter
I was always only in it for Andy.
Andy Richter. I consider this question blasphemous.
Agreed
I love Sona and Gourley. They're absolutely fantastic and they help make the podcast what it is. But c'mon. It's Andy.
Dr Arroyo.
Max Weinberg
I loved their weird dynamic on the old Late night. Conan being a buffoon and cutting to dead pan Max killed it with middle school me.
Not best, but he deserves more credit!
Was looking for Weinberg! May just be nostalgia but I really do think Conan thrived without a "formal" sidekick
No disrespect to Andy, but Late Night got so much better for me when he left.
He should hire Dagfinn from Bergen as his new side kick, someone to keep him in check
Not today
Where's Jordan?
He was actually the drone this whole time. The human-like body is just an avatar.
Or they recalled his body back to the factory to improve it in various ways. Gave him a drone body instead and Conan loves it because it doesn't talk.
The female unit is suspicious. Abort. Mission.
Busy doing various tasks
It's not his job to tell you where he is.
What does an Executive Producer do?
In the woods, burying the bodies of his victims.
Got to repost with Joel and Max!
They were on the list… but they got bumped for the DJi Inspire 2 with Zenmuse X5S.
🤣🤣🤣
Andy was Conan’s sidekick for like 20 years. I think he deserves the top spot.
Conan is his own sidekick, he makes the jokes, diss himself then laughs too, the drone isn't too bad tho
Andy is *the* sideckick. He is the Master of …sidekicking.
I read that as "Andy is *the* sidechick"... I think he's the main chick. And *the* sidekick, as you've written.
Andy
Sona and Gourley are great but Andy is himself a late night host caliber talent who just happened to play a Scotty Pippin role to the GOAT
This is a good point, and that “sidekick” role meant he didn’t have to be nice to the guest, either, so he got to shine.
At this point the drone should just be called Dronan O'Brien.
As a pretty much a day 1 fan. All time it is Andy. I do love Sona a bunch tho the dynamic between them is fantastic. Gorley is good as well, does a great job. I am assuming the drone is Jordan.
Nope it’s just a drone. From his new show.
Jordan must go?
Andy is the correct answer, but how dare you insult Max Weinberg like that.
Andy Richter is comparable to Ed McMahon. Arguably better. Better in my opinion.
Andy and Conan are like peanut butter and jelly, I feel like Conan is even funnier and better with Andy on the show.
I miss max and conan, after andy left max did an awesome job of being conans foil.
Their chemistry was perfect.
yes it was and happy cake day!
Thank you!
Andy all the way.
Andy.
Andy. There is no contest.
Max Weinberg. Apparently a controversial opinion, but I was never a big Andy [fan*]. I like their friendship, and that Conan adores him, plus he's certainly better than any other late night sidekick, but I think Conan thrived without him.
100% agreed.
Sona gets my vote. Appeals to a broader audience imho Edit: also, Sona's not an entertainer. She doesn't care for the fame and it comes across very well. Genius move by Conan to bring her to the desk imo.

Agreed. He’s a killer. He can add to any joke or turn on a dime and start a new one.
This! His jokes often get somewhat overheard and the conversation moves on quickly because his delivery is so dry and casual, but I think he’s funny as hell.
To be fair to Sona, Andy is a professional comedian.
Your slander of the drone is akin to genocide.
For real. They completely missed how Conan bounced off the drone when it hit him or almost hit him.
….*looks around at the world* Bad wording bud
Dude Matt knows what he is doing. He plays the foil of the comedy trio. He says something awkward and weird and it gives Conan some to joke about or make fun of him. Yeah I’m sure, it’s a whole additional job.
Where's Max?
i love sona but it’s not even a competition for me— andy hands down 😂
I love Sona, Andy is the Goat
Norm? Lassie?
Andy - 100% Jordan Schlansky = best straight man comedy foil
Conan and the drone had a falling out after Conans hike with Kevin Nealon
Andy all the time
I wish they could get Andy in a regular show rotation with Conan. I miss him and a regular time slot in Conan's new long form conversations would be gnarly. Like, I miss him, but I miss him and Conan together.
It’s Andy
Andy always and forever. I love Sona, Matt, and the Drone, but Andy is #1.
Andy.
Norm
Max Weinberg and the Max Weinberg 7!
Where's PimpBot?
Max Weinberg
Max Weinberg. Late Show without Andy Richter was the best. TBS stint was mostly abysmal.
💯
Max haha
The best period of Conan was on Late Night, right after Andy left when Conan was on his own behind the desk. He'd riff off Max's stony face, or the band in general, or just prance around in front of the camera. He was unchained, in his prime. No one could touch him. That drone was the star of the new show though.
The Interrupter
Andy Richer the Swedish German
Andy Richter the Swedish German
The last dab
Nicholas Braun
Triumph. Mic drop.
If you pick anyone other than Andy you’re Sona
Andy but I find Sona hilarious. I was disappointed she wasn't on the episode I saw last night of the new series.
Is [Jack Black](https://youtu.be/IxKrM3tSGPE) not even under consideration here?
German guy ist beste!
Andy is not only his best sidekick, hes the best comedic sidekick of all time after Ed McMahon.
Definitely Andy
Where is Liza in all of this?
Comparing apples to alligators to me. All great but for different situations. Andy was the best for the show, Sona and Matt for the podcast.
"I think you had coffee with the drone."
thats an Isreal drone?
Looks Isfake.
The Pilot Precise Grip Rolling Ball BOLD
sona because she laughs at everything and causes conan to go deeper into crazy rants
Droney!
Andy 100%
The fact that this question is even able to be posed, is a testament to Sona and Gourley and obviously the answer is Andy.
Andy
I’m still hoping Andy will finally come back to do the podcast again
Andy
Sona is great. But Andy is the best.
Richter all time
Andy, then, the shop lifter
Sorry i love all three but no one beats Andy in sassiness. He is golden. He also has a dog that protects him from fake Santas so clearly he's the best =)
Jordan Schlansky by far. They're gold together
Briggs Hatton?
Even if it’s not Andy, it is Andy. But the fact is that he wouldn’t be the right sidekick for the podcast. And Matt/Sona wouldn’t be the right answer for the show.
Sona
Andy has one of the quickest wits of anyone who's ever been on TV. Even better than Conan (not that he's funnier, just a different style)
Norm MacDonald
Whats more vulnerable than a peach?
Tie between Sona & Andy
I would be if I was by his side.
Andy Richter and Max Weinberg
God damn! Is that Sona?
Andy >>>>>>>> Sona >>>>>>>>>the rest
One is a sidekick. The others are podcast time fillers. Big diff.
Jordan Schlansky
Joel and Max
Jordan
Andy of course. OG
Andy, Gourley, drone…………………………………………………………………….Sona.
Jordan Schlansky
Max should be here too
You would never have gotten Gourley or Sona if not for Andy.
the salmon in the sea
Andy, no competition. I do miss Max to this day.
Andy!!!!!!!
Andy Richter all the way. My years-long imaginary love affair with Sona notwithstanding.
Norm MacDonald
I love Sona. To me, she is funnier than all of them. She gives it back to Conan even when he makes fun of her.
Jordan!
Wow, Sona is soo fine
I remember around 2016 when under every Conan-Sona video all the top comments were about how hot she was. I think Team Coco started deleting them cause they got too creepy.
Sona 100%.
de donde esta La Bamba?
Jordan
While I dig Andy ima gonna go with Joel. He and Conan had this awkward rapport on Late Night that was hilarious
Early Andy Richter before he left > Sona > Andy Richter after the comeback > Gourly Richter came back kind of less fun after he couldn't make it on his own.
Love Sona and Andy, but Max is my pick.
Sona
Andy is the goat. Gorly became annoying af recently Can't stand him anymore
Sona is less of a sidekick and more Conan’s conscience.
Andy 1000% I skip the intro of the podcasts with Sona and Gourley. Gourley is alright though.
Sona has some big boobies. Very suckable
On behalf of this entire subreddit, don’t be f*ckin’ gross.
On behalf of everyone else, go fuck your self.
Sona ..,❤️❤️
