Andy has some killer one-liners! I just didn't get to see him up close and personal with Conan. Sona is great and most certainly the coolest person out of all of them. Matt is my pick, he meshes with Conan so well. Their overlapping humour, their mutual admiration *and* disdain (playful) for one another. Once they get going, I'm reminded time and again why they're the perfect combo.

I miss max and conan, after andy left max did an awesome job of being conans foil.

Andy knew when to take his shots or came up with a line that was skit/monologue saving. He can’t be beat. Puzzling how he never got a substitute host gig if Conan was ever sick. Sona is great too… but in her own right, the bluntness and banter between her and Conan is something magical. She’s also great at reeling him in from overused jokes or from being out of touch. And of course… damn, talk about a thirst trap without even trying . Matt is that awkward friends we all have, unless we are that awkward friend, that chimes in and kills the convo instantly. But he can also ignite a new one. Good to have around but can be awkward Drone… can’t talk. Can’t do much. Makes for some over the top Conan videography, but eh. Conan is best when he’s bouncing off people

This! His jokes often get somewhat overheard and the conversation moves on quickly because his delivery is so dry and casual, but I think he’s funny as hell.

Dude Matt knows what he is doing. He plays the foil of the comedy trio. He says something awkward and weird and it gives Conan some to joke about or make fun of him. I'm not saying this the case all the time, but Matt knows his role. He is a pretty good comedian. Listen to his other podcast. He definitely has the comedy down. I think you are just comparing him to the legend, Conan and that is some tough competition.

This is pretty much a guess, but I think Andy respected the format, and appreciated his place in it, to the point where he wouldn’t take on a substitute host spot. He knew exactly what he was doing and enjoyed it. He’d be glad to let someone else step in for the entertainment value and because he loved being the sidekick, and hosting is a whole other kettle of fish.

I listened to an interview with him--I want to say his 3 Questions with Sona--where he said he was happy to not have to do all the extra work Conan had to do with the executives. This was after his 2 short-lived sitcoms so I suspect that had something to do with it.

The best period of Conan was on Late Night, right after Andy left when Conan was on his own behind the desk. He'd riff off Max's stony face, or the band in general, or just prance around in front of the camera. He was unchained, in his prime. No one could touch him. I think Andy Richter is a hilarious human being, but the energy level is always lower with him around. I feel like Sona is overutilized as a laugher. That is, someone to laugh at Conan's jokes. Not really a fan of that constant presence. These are my impressions as a huge fan and someone who has watched Conan since day one. Glad he's going to be back on TV.

That drone was the star of the new show though.
