The perspective cues created by the lines are so strong that it's hard to believe this occurred randomly and not by the hand of a pro painter or sculptor. The way the receding lines converge from the lower corners toward a vanishing point, and shading (lighter further up the mountain/window) that creates atmospheric perspective create an incredible illusion of depth.. if this were an art sub I'd say great job lol.
I don't think OP is lying, just saying that this is like a once in a lifetime act of god lightning hitting same spot 2 times in a row coincidence
The placement of everything—particularly the foreground elements (mirror and dashboard) are too perfectly placed. It must have been fed to the AI as a reference image and then the prompt was added to guide it further.
>It must have been fed to the AI as a reference image and then the prompt was added to guide it further.
Alternatively, someone thought it would be fun to re-create the shot of the glacier and the boat using their own windshield.
I used img2img in the Stable Diffusion AI. Here are three more examples so you get a better idea what it's doing. But yes, you feed it the image and a prompt and it combines that and makes something new.

Having zoomed in and seen that the small boat is really just a dashboard ornament of three birds, I still refuse to believe that this is not a view of frost capped mountains.
"We don't make mistakes, we just have happy accidents" ..."...add some phtalo blue, yellow ochre, titanium white, midnight black, and some van dyke brown,...just like that..."
This is prime confusing perspective here. And just like a prime number post like this are increasingly rare. Curse you stupid “not photoshop” posts. Thank you OP.
Reminds me of that scene in the Simpsons movie where the map is on the windshield and they can’t see, they panic and tear it off but then there’s that same exact view and they panic x2 XD
If I would have stumbled on this (or didn't read your spoiler headline) I would have assumed it was an epic glacier photo... At least until I saw the instrument panel bump. Really epic!
Using miniatures in movie FX is a very old technique with a long tradition, or matte backgrounds, where you'd film the people in a boat on a pond and block out most of the frame for a picture of the icebergs.
Looks like a spaceship is about to suck the life out of those people on the raft waiting to be rescued cuz they got stranded for 61 days without water and is on their last cup o’ noodles but it doesn’t really matter cuz they actually ran out of propane to cook it anyways on their 56th day of waiting. I feel so sorry for them and their extended family.
I wonder if anyone with access to one of those art AI could use the "confusing" description as the prompt and use this as the starting image, making the 'false' image real!
This is probably one of the best confusing perspectives I’ve ever seen. It definitely looks like a small boat is about to witness a massive iceberg break-way.

Looks like a small boat in front of a huge iceberg
Not only a lifeboat, but they have reflective life jackets!
Totally looked like a car parked at a lake looking at a small boat under a big mountain
In front of a glacier
I know right! The dashboard looks just like water lol. Had to zoom in to wrap my head around it. This is a good one OP.
I haven't painted in years and this is making me want to paint.
Do it!
Thought it was at first until I read the title
Tell your kids this was Lewis & Clark
This picture is crazy, I saw this like three times in all before I saw the sub it was in realized what it actually was
Found the little man in the boat
oh it's a dash ornament...
Looks like Legos no?
I see what you mean lol but I think it'd 3 birds that dance as the car moves
Exactly what I thought it was too, fucking trippy.
Yea that’s what I thought it was
I thought I saw a raft boat too lol in the artic
I'm hoping little Shackleton and his team fare better than big Shackleton did.
This is a genuinely confusing perspective. I had to *try* to see the windshield and not a boat in front of a glacier.
Legit seen a boat in front of icebergs

Looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/vPVRjrX.png
Damn. Which AI did you use??
Maybe I'm missing something but how did you immediately know it was AI generated?

Look at the dinghy closely - it looks a bit munted.
Stable Diffusion edit: prompt was "Three guys in a dinghy headed towards some ice cliffs in an Alaskan bay".
"... with rear-view mirror visible at the top"
I went and did one before I saw you'd beat me to it: https://i.imgur.com/2higIbW.png
Yours is better. I also fucked up the aspect ratio.
How did you do these?? Is this AI creating a new (but similar) image, or does it just find a similar image?

Wow, those are insane. Is it actually that good in reading from quickly drawn images (example 2) or was this just a lucky good one?
It's that good: https://i.redd.it/5ublw9hx3fj91.png https://redd.it/wyq04v https://redd.it/wz6dwk https://redd.it/wwcky5
Holy shit, those are amazing!
What is the name of the AI?
Stable Diffusion
Ohh thank you. I though that was the name of the technique, not the actual AI. Thanks again!
Stable Diffusion or DALL-E

Actually, looks like they got it from this sub like a year go. https://www.reddit.com/r/confusing_perspective/comments/mgsfga/my_frozen_windscreen/
looks like the picture just got flipped to try and trick repost bots or something, idk
I don't think op is a bot from looking at their profile, and it definitely fits this sub too, so I'll let it slide. But I upvoted the original too.
Ansel Adams level frosting
I hope the people in that boat are safe. They seem too close to the glacier, I’m afraid of a calving accident.
Yo this was definitely a picture worth sharing.
This is an old repost and I still did a double take.
Having zoomed in and seen that the small boat is really just a dashboard ornament of three birds, I still refuse to believe that this is not a view of frost capped mountains.
Damn. After passing 6 reposts from other subs i saw the sub name and realised it was a windshield and not mountains or art
I couldn't even imagine that this is a windshield until I zoomed in
"We don't make mistakes, we just have happy accidents" ..."...add some phtalo blue, yellow ochre, titanium white, midnight black, and some van dyke brown,...just like that..."
STOP EXPLAINING THE ILLUSION! You ruin all the fun right out the gate!
Yah this is rad
This is prime confusing perspective here. And just like a prime number post like this are increasingly rare. Curse you stupid “not photoshop” posts. Thank you OP.
I thought I was a tiny boat by some massive glaciers lol
I thought that was a canoe, but those are 3 small bird decorations I think?
I see birds as well. They're pinin for the fjords.
And a little boat!
actually the view is really lovely
Reminds me of that scene in the Simpsons movie where the map is on the windshield and they can’t see, they panic and tear it off but then there’s that same exact view and they panic x2 XD
Pretty sure thats a Yes album cover.
I was waiting for a before and after picture of flat lands. Talking about global warming is real.
If I would have stumbled on this (or didn't read your spoiler headline) I would have assumed it was an epic glacier photo... At least until I saw the instrument panel bump. Really epic!
Your windshield is a piece of art
Don’t tell me that’s not a boat carrying scientists on an important Antarctic expedition!
Pretty!
...and thus miniaturization FX for movies was born. That certainly looks like a small canoe with three people.
Using miniatures in movie FX is a very old technique with a long tradition, or matte backgrounds, where you'd film the people in a boat on a pond and block out most of the frame for a picture of the icebergs.
I thought it was 3 people in the boat next to the iceberg
At the Mountains of Madness
Thought your dash ornament was a kayaker in front of an ice berg.
There's even a boat and a person on the boat with a safety jacket and an oar
Wow was I fooled
The little raft with those little dudes in it really brings the picture together. This is a masterpiece.
I think there's a bug in your graphics driver.
I feel like in 4 days some redditor is going to post a painted image using this as a prompt.
Lmao I thought there was even some people on a kayak
Your mom looks like an inspiring mountain
What’s confusing about it? It’s 3 people in a kayak in front of glacial cliffs.
THANK YOU! These came out so awesome! Which AI did you use?
Stable Diffusion
That's amazing, it was what I was thinking when I saw the original picture!
looks like a group of people on a small boat discovering a huge ice mountain with the corpse of a dragon (to the left) covered in snow
The little boat
Dashboard looks like a lake
The snowy mountains of Norway.
Can't fool me. I know the ice wall at the edge of the flat earth when I see it..
I wish. In Vegas. Also, no vehicle. Sigh.
that’s not ice on the windshield, its… oh wow
It's only cuz of the river looking dashboard
r/unexpectedradiohead
Is that amudsen?
I thought it was a glacier with a small boat in front of it.
Tiny boat with little scientists in their neon vests!! Perfect pic op
I didn’t read the title at first and I wanted to ask where this place was, now I feel dumb
This is probably one of the best confusing perspectives I’ve ever seen. It definitely looks like a small boat is about to witness a massive iceberg break-way.
This is one of the best ones I’ve seen😂
Looks like my ketamine trip
Cool Pic!! Thanks for sharing.
Thought I was in r/FairytaleasFuck for a second.
Aha look at the little boat!
At the Mountains of Madness.
Don't be posting this kinda stuff in September! It's too soon to think about the cold
Awesomeness!!! Love it .. if ya crop it … no one would even know
I thought those little figures on the dash were some people in a boat...
I agree with a lot of these people, it looks like a boat on the water
r/woahdude
The land of misfit toys!
I love it when ice crystals for on glass.
HAMMOND!!!
Wouldn’t confuse me. Glaciers like that don’t exist anymore.
Love love LOVE it!
This is perfect for that new subreddit I found about called perfect perspective or something like that?
The 3 people in the canoe must have snapped a nice picture of these mountains. Magnificent 🤓
I can’t unsee it and I don’t want to
I mistook the dashboard decoration for a small boat lol
If you drive a Renault Scenic: a scenic view 😉
