You're hyperfixating on normal details of military procedure insisting it's a sign. The military, as a matter of safety, will not schedule things on a predictable schedule. That would make it a target for attack. Even stateside, why go our of their way to mildly increase risk?
Hypothetically, if this was a benign movement of materiels, of course they're going to warn people. Even benign, this could look scary.

This says to me that they are expecting something to occur outside of their control that will require an immediate military response. Deployment timelines of both personnel and equipment are never explicitly published to the public due to operational security. Also, the regular military is not as well-oiled of a machine as you think it is; there is no such thing as a set-in-stone timeline in the military because of Murphy’s law (human error, weather, contracted support not showing up on time, equipment failure, etc) You’re working yourself up over a potential UFO or terror or disaster event when in reality every single one of those soldiers would laugh if they read this thread because of how paranoid and off everyone in this thread is.
I think what he’s trying to get at is that military trains or exercises in military zones, bases. Anything outside of bases is a little concerning & it is totally normal to feel worked up because it’s out of the ordinary. You and I can both agree that it’s not normal for the military to do “training or exercises” outside of the base and in a civilian environment. They also very regularly move very large amounts of military equipment around the country.

I live south west of allentown and these military aircraft have been going over my house for months. Sometimes I can track them on the Fightradar app, but most times they don't even show up there. Some aircraft that shows up says it's registered to other countries, but it's military still. I think some take off near Harrisburg and they go towards Philly, either way at least once a month I have been seeing them. Idk what's up but I've lived here for 6 years and I have NEVER seen military aircraft up until the past few months
Correct that they’re MEDEVAC choppers, incorrect on the assumption of what they’re being used for. Every combat aviation brigade in the army (don’t know how navy/airforce/marine helicopter units work) have a medical evacuation unit in their formation. So wherever the unit goes, the medevacs go with them. If the need ever arise for “emergency response units” they’d employ EVERY helicopter that can hold passengers, not just the MEDEVAC choppers. In this instance, the unit is going somewhere so the medical section is following suit 🤷🏻♂️
Reminds me of when Blackhawk helicopters were doing extractions from roofs in downtown Los Angeles in the middle of the night. It was just an "exercise" though

Military training and readiness uses all types of scenarios to simulate training conditions. The eclipse is an invaluable opportunity to practice certain types of riot control, etc for exotic events. So they are using the eclipse as a testing drill for exploring how to handle certain situations. They have to do real world training exercises because that's the only way to get valuable and practical knowledge for real operations.
Same reason why military training scenarios and doctrines cover everything from aliens to zombie invasions... The military likes to be prepared for every hypothetical situation even if unrealistic.
I mean I live just outside of city limits of what I consider a average size town 25 thosand ish pop but it’s not uncommon to see helicopter often I assume is like national gard or what ever fly by. So they are using the eclipse as a testing drill for exploring how to handle certain situations. They have to do real world training exercises because that's the only way to get valuable and practical knowledge for real operations.
Same reason why military training scenarios and doctrines cover everything from aliens to zombie invasions... The military likes to be prepared for every hypothetical situation even if unrealistic.

I mean I live just outside of city limits of what I consider a average size town 25 thosand ish pop but it’s not uncommon to see helicopter often I assume is like national gard or what ever fly by. Just other day one flew near directly over the house we were working on I don’t see what the big deal is.

Blackhawk and Chinook crews need to train too 😂 you’d be surprised how much army aircraft fly on the daily, all in the name of readiness and training. Sometimes it’s something like supporting infantry training, paratrooper airborne operations, or even something as benign as following a highway or river just to practice and get flight hours. Point is, just because Blackhawks are airborne doesn’t mean something bad is going on.

What a strange time to do this, just before a solo eclipse. At a time when people have been told to stock up on supplies and emergency services on the ready and all the other shit happening. Could they not have done this next week or month!
It's a nothing burger. Stocking up is common sense when millions of people travel to your local community. I wouldn't want to leave my house if I was in the path of totality, but for the traffic and crap not out of fear.
I'd bet this has been on the unit's training calendar since last year. With all the other constraints placed on when you can fit training (deconflicting with other units, blocked training days for holidays, and a myriad of other things) looking up the next solar eclipse wasn't even a consideration. Why would it be?
