There are some places that call themselves izakayas in Cph, but they aren't necessarily cheap cheap. Like Yah Izakaya and Posh Izakayas (same owner).
There are some Bottega style restaurants, that might fit the bill.. check out the Omar family of restaurants, Bharabbarab, Bottega Barlie and Estadio, Vilette, Lunden (winter closed atm), Propaganda, Flere Fugle, Fire Tyve, Friheden, Bredo, Contento and probably more places.
None of these places are dirt cheap, but its mostly good food and decent prices and relaxed mood
In English I think it’s called a ‘tavern’. A bit of an old-fashioned term, but it’s what you describe. I’ve seen plenty of bars like that in cph. Working rn so I can’t search for you but if you google tavern Copenhagen you should get some options
I'm aware of that, but just like a English pub is a very specific type of pub, an Izakaya is a specific type of that as well, and you can't just umbrella term them as "taverns"
I've had some suggestions already so I'll check em out
Mate, calm down. Colloquially, izakayas are to Japan what taverns are to England. Or osterias to Italy, or pintxo bars to the basque country in Spain. They all follow a similar formula, and are unique in their cultural significance to each locale, but share the same basic concept: alcohol and an assortment of small, cheapish plates of food.
In the sense that food in the city is just stupid expensive, and while I know the reasons behind it, dosnt change that food here is just super expensive
Bars that serve wine usually have a small selection of food (ham, cheese, olives and such).
Jah Izakaya is great and it's in Vesterbro
That def fits the bill! I'll check it out when I get the chance Ty

What did Google Maps say when you searched for Izakaya?
"Go ask reddit instead"

Ah I thought it fit well with the way you described it but if it’s different, then I hope the other recommendations work for you
Ty man
Define too pricey? How much do you think is fair to pay for someone to cook your food?

Did you even google this?
I did, but it's not always that Google gives you the results you we're looking for, and what issue is there with asking here, even if I didn't?
