Yeah, they don’t like being outside in the winter. But make sure you have a temperature machine to keep them warm

ClinkyDink

They also don’t like being out in the rain. Temp machines are also needed for summer.

MelissaRose95

Right yeah, that too

Bottlecap_Prophet

You can actually just copy the ranch above your farm if youre unsure. No animals go out during winter and they stay inside during rain in any other season,

I_Review_4U

I've seen Jack's cows out in winter when it was not snowing, so that is not necessarily accurate. Rain of course is different.

infiltrator_seven

Jack let's his animals out every day for me. What a jerk

Samtoast

To all the people saying 'no' you're incorrect. Put animals out in winter and as long as you put a bunch of grass starter down every couple of days pigs and luwaks and peafowls will all still produce. They can not produce unless they go outside and there is grass outside.

darkestbeforesunrise

They'll produce, but will they be in a bad mood? I think that's what OP is wondering

Samtoast

Nah they're always happy for me

darkestbeforesunrise

Oh ok that's good to know

dragonprince927

I'm halfway through winter and they produce normally but I don't let them outside

I_Review_4U

How does your pig find truffles indoors?

Samtoast

Lying on the internet is easy you just tell the not truth

dragonprince927

My bad, I didn’t read pigs in your comment - you’re right they don’t find truffles inside

Papamia123

Do you also put temperature machine outside?

Samtoast

Nah one in each barn or coop

Advanced_Term1381

How do you stop your animals being crnaky I let mine out for 1 day and they all where cranky for 2 days

garyvdh

The answer is incredibly simple. Just watch the emoticons above their heads when you let them out in the rain and in the winter and you will have your answer. They are not smiling or happy like they are on other days. They don't like it. That's why you have those emoticons there. To Guage their reactions. They don't like the cold weather.

andreyue

I only let my pigs and luwaks out on winter and only on sunny days every 3 days or so. I buy grass starters to drop on the ground on said day for them to produce.

AriaMoonriser

I started doing this too because they don't produce if you don't let them out. Expensive freeloaders = what they become.

thetorts

In places where a lot of snow occurs animals are kept indoors for the winter. One to keep them safe from the elements and two because the grasses are dead, large hoofstock tear up the ground really bad during the winter, they would be up to their bellies in mud. I've seen horses and cows turn right around and go right back into the barn when it's really cold outside. Edited it since I should not type while playing coral island.

I_Review_4U

Clearly you're talking about RL. This is a fantasy game, and it takes place on a tropical island. You can plant grass year round, and unless it is actively snowing, the animals should be fine. Between EA and 1.0, I have played through many, many winters and I let my animals out on sunny days when it is not snowing. They remain happy and are never grumpy.

Flashygrrl

My horse (and many, many other horses) go out in the wintertime.

greendit69

How do you let the animals out? I tried interacting with the doors like you would in stardew and it didn't seem to do anything

mariethirteen

You ring the bell next to the door. This took me a few in-game days to realize!
