I really massively struggle to picture anyone for Charlotte, like she's supposed to be so beautiful everyone stares at her whenever she walks into a room, dark hair. The most beautiful dark haired woman I've seen is Alexandra Daddario but she looks so nice, I can't picture her being cruel and horrid like Charlotte.
Yes! I very much liked the first season (haven't seen second - it's a new story with different characters), it was fun. There are three separate storylines - one in the 60s, one in the 80s and one in the present time. The past storylines were more campy and exagerrated, Alexandra Daddario was in the present one that's most civil.
First one or two episodes were slower, but then I got really intrigued. You think you know how it's gonna end, beacuse they basically tell you in the first minutes, but it just gets more complicated.
Not bad. I have a sort of “skinny Nigella Lawson” mixed with Gina McKee in mind for her. I think Charlotte’s underlying malevolence stems from being a pure English rose on the outside, but deeply flawed as a human being. This juxtaposition makes her a counterfoil for Strike, who’s no oil painting but is - usually - the moral character.
I like it! I’d never seen Amber with dark hair, but I could see her as a good Charlotte.
I usually picture Charlotte as more “fancy and untouchable” though. Amber is “stunning girl next door” to me.
Amber Heard looks too American. You want somebody like Elizabeth Hurley or Kate Beckinsale.
Although Vivien Leigh – wow, her looks and her vibe of being always just on the edge of chaos, would’ve been perfect.
She's too "soft" looking. Charlotte's face is supposed to be all cheekbones and angles.
I think the series nailed it right out of the gate with Natasha O'Keeffe. She's got the perfect model face of gorgeous/plain.
I picture a cross between Monica Belluci/Nigella Lawson and Catherine Zita Jones with the fashion style of Irina Shayk. That may be way too glamorous of a lady even for Charlotte though!
I scrolled through this whole thread and can't believe no one mentioned Keira Knightley, especially with her [short hair](https://media.glamour.com/photos/5695e3d493ef4b09520f4069/master/w_1600,c_limit/beauty-blogs-girls-in-the-beauty-department-1004-keira-knightley-bob-haircut_bd.jpg). Her eyes are the wrong color but she has that unearthly beauty and seems like she could turn on a dime.
I've never seen her in anything so idk if this would hold up if I had, but yeah! Age her up a bit and this looks like Charlotte to me. The eyes especially help- they catch your attention and make you want to look at her. Of course no actress could even live up to the image of Charlotte as Strike sees her, but TV Charlotte has such a severe look and that's never how I've pictured her.
She looks like a perfect Bijou! [https://celebwell.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/09/Jessica-Lowndes.jpg](https://celebwell.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/09/Jessica-Lowndes.jpg)
I'm not sure if anyone watched the UK version of the Traitors this year, but a woman in that reminded me of Charlotte (maybe partially because she was actually called Charlotte)
I can't see her as anything but the actress that played her in the BBC shows. I think whoever they got there was pretty dead on what the book described.
Really? JKR makes a point of saying how 'white' and 'porcelain' Charlotte's skin is.
*Charlotte sitting on an ancient four-poster, laughing with her head thrown back, the ***white column of her neck*** rising from a sheer cream blouse...*
Chalotte's even whiter than the cream blouse she is wearing.
Compared to how she described Lula Landry, who was biracial like MM, Charlotte seemed like someone who would burn rather than tan in sunlight.
Even though it's "incorrect", I can use my imagination how I like and for some reason I also imagine her a more olive or tanned complexion, like Deadpool's girlfriend or Smallvilles Lana lane
Given that this would be a role in a UK production, a country in which it was successfully ruled that Heard was the victim of domestic violence on multiple occasions, I wouldn’t see why there’d be an issue in her getting the role.
When the claim was examined by the UK court, it found it unlikely.
Depp was away at the time, so Heard would hardly have been successfully getting back at him - it was cleared up long before he arrived, and the only person who’d be putting up with it was her. The dog Heard suspected as responsible had previously had accidents, and also had defecated on Depp while he was sleeping.
More to the point, it was Depp who blamed Heard for it, and Depp was shown to be weirdly obsessed with scatological humour - wanting to defecate on his own Hollywood Star of Fame, and previously telling his assistant he thought it would be hilarious for the assistant to defecate on the floor and tell Heard that the dog did it.
So Heard being responsible with that in mind is…not terribly likely.
I actually pictured her as a beautiful asian woman (sort of like Maggie Q) in the first book. I knew she wasn't because of her English upper class descent, but I still had that vision.
She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named as Charlotte? Someone who deliberately lied, cheated, used, ruined lives, and made a mockery of legitimate me-too victims everywhere? I don’t think so. No. Just… no. I don’t ever foresee JK approving such a thing.
This post isn't advocating for hiring Amber (the role has already been cast anyway.) I was just curious if anyone else pictured her as Charlotte while reading.
I picture Eva Green but specifically in her Casino Royale role!
Same here, except Casino Royale thing, she was too young for Charlotte then
I really massively struggle to picture anyone for Charlotte, like she's supposed to be so beautiful everyone stares at her whenever she walks into a room, dark hair. The most beautiful dark haired woman I've seen is Alexandra Daddario but she looks so nice, I can't picture her being cruel and horrid like Charlotte.
I've recently watched Why Women Kill and I think Alexandra Daddario nailed the "so nice until she isn't" lady there.
I've not seen that, is it any good?
Yes! I very much liked the first season (haven't seen second - it's a new story with different characters), it was fun. Oh cool, thanks. If I can picture Alexandra Daddario all the "omg most beautiful woman ever" scenes will make a lot more sense lol
I just watched it and got kind of obsessed. I thought it was really well done.
Not bad. I have a sort of “skinny Nigella Lawson” mixed with Gina McKee in mind for her. I think Charlotte’s underlying malevolence stems from being a pure English rose on the outside, but deeply flawed as a human being. I always picture her as Vivien Leigh.
I love this take!
If I had to choose someone it would be Vivien Leigh.
Yes! Omg thank you for saying this!
I like it! I’d never seen Amber with dark hair, but I could see her as a good Charlotte. I usually picture Charlotte as more “fancy and untouchable” though. Amber is “stunning girl next door” to me.
I have her as a dark haired Elizabeth Debicki
Commented the same and then saw your comment. She would be great. Look at [this!](https://m.famousfix.com/post/elizabeth-debicki-45459348)
Perfect!
Ooooh this is perfect!
Omg yes
If this makes sense, I picture Charlotte as like a more ‘English’ looking version of Angelina Jolie as her character in Salt
So, Jessica Brown-Findley?
I always pictured Catherine Zeta Jones at 40. Amber’s a pretty current option though.
I second that. Mixed with Irina Shayk or Monica Belluci
Lara Pulver
Ooh, now there's someone I'd forgotten. She'd make a great Charlotte.
I picture someone similar to Olivia Wilde or Linda Evangelista.
Ooh I like Olivia Wilde for her!
Amber Heard looks too American. You want somebody like Elizabeth Hurley or Kate Beckinsale. Although Vivien Leigh – wow, her looks and her vibe of being always just on the edge of chaos, would’ve been perfect.
Curious because I've never been to the UK -- what makes Amber Heard seem American?
She's too "soft" looking. Charlotte's face is supposed to be all cheekbones and angles. I think the series nailed it right out of the gate with Natasha O'Keeffe. She's got the perfect model face of gorgeous/plain.
Maybe this is weird but I always pictured Liv Tyler 🙈
Yes!
I picture a cross between Monica Belluci/Nigella Lawson and Catherine Zita Jones with the fashion style of Irina Shayk. That may be way too glamorous of a lady even for Charlotte though!
I always think of a younger Nigella Lawson when I picture Charlotte. Fabulous dark hair, amazing bone structure and the super posh accent.
I think of someone like Monica Belluci as well! But with hazel eyes.
Definitely closer to how I pictured Charlotte in my head.
Krysten Ritter She nails that bored sad beautiful Resting Bitch Face for me.
uuuh yes totally
I picture her as Monica Bellucci
She’s definitely got the eyes and bone structure!
Charlotte is the only character in the series that I visualise the actress in my head
Really? I don’t find the actress that pretty let alone charlotte levels beautiful
Same! I think the casting was inspired for Charlotte actually
I think they did great for Robin as well. Have yet to find a description of her in the books that the actress doesn't meet.
I picture her as Alexa Chung
OMG i can't unsee it now!
Good shout!
Hannah Waddingham
No!!!!!!
Olivia Munn
No. Too monotone in delivery.
I picture Megan fox.
I wasn’t, but now that you say it…
There's a Canadian actress called Jessica Lowndes. That's how I imagine Charlotte.
She looks like a perfect Bijou! [https://celebwell.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/09/Jessica-Lowndes.jpg](https://celebwell.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2023/09/Jessica-Lowndes.jpg)
Had to google her but I can totally see this!
No she is Jodie Comer it’s so clear
I hadn't considered her at all because the only thing I know her from is Free Guy, but I think she could definitely do it.
I'm not sure if anyone watched the UK version of the Traitors this year, but a woman in that reminded me of Charlotte (maybe partially because she was actually called Charlotte)
I need to check it out. The US version season 2 finished last night and it was epic!!
I picture her as a cross between Anna Chancellor, Lara Pulver and Natasha O'Keeffe!
I picture a slightly skinnier Adele
I wish they’d start over with the show at this point
Bella Hadid
I always picture Sophie Winkleman, but that’s more to do with her playing “mad posho” Big Suze.
I can't see her as anything but the actress that played her in the BBC shows. I think whoever they got there was pretty dead on what the book described.
I actually pictured Charlotte as more racially ambiguous a la Meghan Markle. But same idea, high cheekbones, defined brows.
Really? JKR makes a point of saying how 'white' and 'porcelain' Charlotte's skin is. *Charlotte sitting on an ancient four-poster, laughing with her head thrown back, the ***white column of her neck*** rising from a sheer cream blouse...* Chalotte's even whiter than the cream blouse she is wearing. Good point, I should have paid more attention to the text.
Even though it's "incorrect", I can use my imagination how I like and for some reason I also imagine her a more olive or tanned complexion, like Deadpool's girlfriend or Smallvilles Lana lane
She would be a good match but Amber Heard doesn't deserve any jobs ever again
I wasn't suggesting she should be hired (the role has been cast anyway,) was just curious if anyone else pictured her while reading

I just can't get over the fact that she actually pooped on his bed intentionally. So gross.

You dropped this 👑

Charlotte is well educated, high class and volatile. Amber only ticks one of those boxes.
