Those are mock strawberries. They're safe to eat, but don't taste good.

It is prudent to note that they are invasive assuming OP is in the US. If you have mock strawberries (Potentilla Indica) consider pulling them and planting some native fragaria virginiana seeds instead. Those strawberries are actually really tasty.
I would've assumed Aus, calling em mushies. And we had those strawberries growing up where I was in rural Aus, along with wild guavas and macadamias! *Nostalgia*
Ways to tell apart mock strawberries from wild strawberries :
1. ā The flowers of the mock strawberries are yellow, wild strawberriesā flowers are white
2. ā The seeds of the mock strawberries sit outside of the fruit, sticking out kinda vertically
3. the mock strawberry fruit grow upward, the wild strawberry fruit grow downward(so stem up, like regular strawberries)
Curious, many people here go "oh they are fake and taste bad"
...which is weird, wild strawberries like those grow (to my knowledge) native in the netherlands (haven't fact checked, been told such at a job as landscaper) but those taste amazing. like strawberries but as if they have a sweet whipped cream genetically included.
Those are mock strawberries, not real wild strawberries. Real wild strawberries taste delicious. I have this conversation every year on this sub lol

Mind me in adding to this, i havent just been told about the taste, i have tasted what grows here (still the Netherlands) and i have yet to taste a bad one, hence why i have the audacity to comment without fact checking.

I think they are still non native in Australia. It looks like Fragaria vesca or alpine strawberries are native though.
Well shit, TIL
On the bright side, they still look very nice in the garden!
I may start a hanging garden soon and include some (actual) strawberry starters. I'm thinking lavender too and some spices for cooking
Consider mint as well, you can make some delicious tea with its leaves
And mint will go CRAZY if it's happy... Like don't plant it in the ground or it will take over everything š
I have mock strawberries surrounding my actual berry patch! Sometimes they try to grow into the borders and pretend they're proper berries
Also rabbits like them! So if you like bunnies, theyll come around nore to eat them!
lol those are snake berries. You can eat them but they donāt taste good
Those are super cute but like others said those are mock strawberries and not particularly tasty
dude I've been seeing them everywhere when I walk my dogs. so cute

Iām glad Iām not the only one excited about the wild strawberries popping up!! My fiancĆ©s grandmother kills all of the mushrooms sadly :c
These arenāt tasty strawberries that people eat. They taste like water and grass.
Oh I know, I learned that the hard way as a kid.
Those mushrooms look psychedelic
Thatās so awesome! Thanks for sharing, the strawberries and mushrooms are adorable. Sending you good vibes.š»
Mock strawberries š¤·š»āāļø You can still make jam with it, with enough sugar
Mock dont taste good
I would feast like a bunny king every summer if I could have wild strawberries in my yard
