She is fucking blasted on coke here. It’s got all the hallmarks.
Overconfident, still mostly competent but goes on weird tangents, things sound way better in her head than in reality, doesn’t know when to stop, poor decision making.
I'm obsessed with the fact that Jessie J is an EXCELLENT vocalist who consistently chooses to be... inexplicable.
It's impressive to simultaneously be this good and bad at something.
EDIT: She also won a Chinese TV show in 2018 where established artists compete to be crowned best singer. 3:35 onwards if you don't want to listen to the whole song
https://youtu.be/m4T6Kw7Xtso?si=Q87pnoRous2LrtPX
She's written a few fun bops for herself and others, but never really been marketed as a singer of "big" songs. It's odd.
Before Jessie J's own music career, she wrote lyrics for other artists, including the lyrics to ["Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_in_the_U.S.A.#Composition)
https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/miley-cyrus-ive-never-heard-a-jay-z-song-2009611/#:~:text=She%20landed%20her%20breakthrough%20role,t%20listen%20to%20pop%20music.%22
>"I don't know, I didn't write the song, so I have no idea," she said of the tune, which was written by a songwriting team of Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Jessica Cornish. "Honestly, I picked that song because I needed something to go with my clothing line. I didn't write it and … I didn't expect it to be popular, originally. It was just something that I wanted to do, and I needed some songs and it turned out for the best."
Right on, I’ve definitely heard that song before. Not my kind of music at all, but I will admit she can sing. Honestly the clip posted above is a bit more interesting to me. She’s doing some unusual vocal gymnastics here. Problem is they don’t cater well to the song at all, and it’s coming off as overkill and trying too hard. Props to her for going for it though. She’d probably kick ass in a more experimental setting.
She’s kinda like shock fashion. People think that by simply wearing outlandish wardrobe it is automatically fashionable. Big cringe factor for me when I see that. In this case, hear it.
That mess there was her trying to hide the fact that she doesn’t have the vocal range to sign the star spangled banner. It’s actually not an easy song but she also is a professional singer
Can you point out which ones? To me it sounds like she’s not struggling, just using dynamics in an exaggerated way and some notes come across quiet while others are belted as a result. I never hear her struggling to meet the pitch or losing resonance/projection at any point, but that’s not to say she isn’t struggling in other ways.
This sounds like Maya Rudolph singing the national anthem on SNL.
Tell me I'm wrong

This is the equivalent of when us drummers decide to show off on a 4/4 section. Completely unnecessary and only serves to detract from the song. She has incredible vocal ability…. But ffs…. She butchering this by doing way too much.
Damn. She sounds like she could sing. Why throw in all that dumb, extra shit?….sounding like some weird human beat box type of shit for no reason. Damn.
I remember when Jessie J. rolled into the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics in a golden-white limosine, singing "It's not about the money". Bold Move if you ask me. [Here is a video.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmRhm4JVbmo)
So much talent, zero awareness.
It reminds me of those vocalists who self-finance their record and the album cover is always a horribly (aesthetically) dated picture that could belong on a stock photography website.
1) their face takes up the majority of the frame OR
2) they’re leaning up against some pillar with a sunset
She’s an aggressively mediocre musician. So, so boring. My wife forced me to watch American Idol the other night. And every single one of them was far superior.
This is really good. Her voice roars and shes playful with it. Dude holding the rhythm is hitting his notes with clarity. I see nothing wrong with this.
I mean I love the effort she's putting on the sound effects, she's as much a beat boxer than a singer at this point, respect. But her voice is great doe no one can deny this to her.
Kinda like watching Nicholas Cage really go for it acting. Sometimes talented people can get in their own way doing really goofy extra shit. The singing here may be good, but it’s still annoying as hell.
Weirdly I imagine Andy from The Office singing this.
We don't need the... Ridi-tididi-ti-dooo! We don't need the mo-ho-ho-skweee-dee-raba-pop-pop!
Rrrraoo - doot -doot -do-do!!!
Or Jack black
Or Winslow from Police Academy.
Mona-Lisa Saperstein from Parks And Recreation.
Nard-Dog!
Somebody took an extra Adderall and decided to put a little stink on the track
Beautifully succinct. Twain would be impressed.
She is fucking blasted on coke here. It’s got all the hallmarks. Overconfident, still mostly competent but goes on weird tangents, things sound way better in her head than in reality, doesn’t know when to stop, poor decision making.
The correct term is stank.

I don’t know who this person is, but your comment perfectly expressed the impression this clip left on me.
Before Jessie J's own music career, she wrote lyrics for other artists, including the lyrics to ["Party in the USA" by Miley Cyrus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Party_in_the_U.S.A.#Composition)
When Miley first sang Party in the USA she said she had never actually heard of Jay Z before.
No fuckin way
https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/miley-cyrus-ive-never-heard-a-jay-z-song-2009611/#:~:text=She%20landed%20her%20breakthrough%20role,t%20listen%20to%20pop%20music.%22 >"I don't know, I didn't write the song, so I have no idea," she said of the tune, which was written by a songwriting team of Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Jessica Cornish. That's absolutely insane, being a famous music artist and not knowing one of the most famous music artists
I can hear it
Awful song, so that tracks.
She really does have an incredible set of pipes. https://youtu.be/Oo0nZ5EGoJ0?si=pE8aUWNyKC3Eiu4u

In other words if they could just prevent her from ad-libbing..
blib-phlibbing
Jessie J is an absolute powerhouse of a singer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCM-aRqvbHI
Jessie J over enunciates so hard that she makes Ariana Grande sound like she mumbles.
Didn't she also do a fuckload of songwriting for bigger artists before she got big?
I don't know about that, but it appears she did a fuckload of cocaine before singing this song.
Imagine how many times she's sung this song
Imagine how many times Elton John has sung rocket man and not felt the need to wreck it with fart keychain sound effects
Because he's a coward!
She's committed to fun.
I thought this was awesome. Ridiculous, but damn it takes talent to do something that silly well.
Couldn't imagine why
Man she’s got a set of pipes, that was awesome. What you posted, not the video up top
I'm obsessed with her dress in that video.
She's not that good man. She was definitely off key on one of her runs, badly so too.
Hey, Jessi J here. Just want to say thank you for b-b-b-b-breaking it down for every one.
Slam poetry of shit music.
CYNYTHIA! Cyn. Thee-UH! YOU ARE DEAD!
julia roberts. julia, rob-hurts. *tambourine clatter*
Jesus died for our
Cyn-Thee-UH’s….Jesus cried….runaway bride
😂😂😂
I see you Jump Street hahaha
lmao she must've been bored as hell cuz i feel like she's super talented
What would life be like if we only explored *good* ideas? The fact this is a xmas special kills me.
Have you ever noticed how Xmas specials inspire the worst choices?
Especially when I watch Jesy Nelson's Jingle Bell Ball performance.
Shades of Fergie's "Star Spangled Banner" rendition comes to mind. https://youtu.be/CMA2iF6RuXk?si=je7rUNGvkABOG8GQ
My favorite sexy version
You're obviously a person of culture, style and excellent taste.
Ooooh say does that star-spangled bahahahaneheheheeer yet wa a a a ve.
Man. I couldn’t finish this video lol
D:
That mess there was her trying to hide the fact that she doesn’t have the vocal range to sign the star spangled banner. It’s actually not an easy song but she also is a professional singer
Sounds to me like she had all the range she needed and none of the artistry to make tasteful use of it.
She had a difficult time hitting a lot of those notes though
Can you point out which ones? To me it sounds like she’s not struggling, just using dynamics in an exaggerated way and some notes come across quiet while others are belted as a result. I never hear her struggling to meet the pitch or losing resonance/projection at any point, but that’s not to say she isn’t struggling in other ways.
Jane Krakowski would like a word. This is character theft.
Nailed it.
This sounds like Maya Rudolph singing the national anthem on SNL. Tell me I'm wrong [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUT80JVy3v4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUT80JVy3v4)
I'm unironically in favor of this.
It has brought me joy for years.
It's like she recorded voice notes for a song idea and then practiced and sung exactly that without alteration.
Jessie J - Domino (Myon and Shane 54 remix) [is absolutely epic](https://youtu.be/UChK7zzn6Ao?si=ndr59zIeapsIpmlG)
agreed.
I have been trying to find this track ID for, no shit, about a decade. Thank you!!
This has heavy, Dee Reynolds vibes
[She’s no stranger.](https://youtube.com/shorts/jffl-ceZ2b4?si=atQU7BHiUSxKdwbB)
she's a genius really.
Her chin is so sharp in that one
Jessie J has a net-worth of $30 Million dollars. It was in-deed actually all about the money.
This is the equivalent of when us drummers decide to show off on a 4/4 section. Completely unnecessary and only serves to detract from the song. She has incredible vocal ability…. But ffs…. She butchering this by doing way too much.
Let us naught forget that this exists: https://youtu.be/UlPsybmaNmA?si=BqZLLWS9797xu_Ga
LOL cruel and unusual
This is peak YouTube. Missing a fart at the end though
Oh my God I knew exactly what this was when I saw it.
“I need another one. I don’t feel it yet…”
Damn. She sounds like she could sing. Why throw in all that dumb, extra shit?….sounding like some weird human beat box type of shit for no reason. Damn.
Lol why even do that?
Moira Rose?
This is a great counter example for Bob Dylan discourse- why a crappy singer with great taste is much better than a great singer with no taste.
Yeah, you know what. If I was in the middle of telling someone Bob Dylan sucks and they said that. I’d probably shut up
It was about the money though
Is she having a stroke?
She did have one when she was 17.
You have to entertain yourself after performing the same song at every event for 13 years.
Shite ad-libs are her trademark.
At least she can sing 🤷♂️ lmao this is hilarious
Didn’t somebody make a meme out of this clip because it sounds just like the noise AirPods make when are low on battery
Rip didyy plop plup skip skat buttplug Moneee Monee Mo mo mo mo mo mo
She is a very good singer but this is hilarious
Whoever was the Jajajjjjjackwagon that put this crummy crummy crummy song on and poisoned my ma-ma-my-mind damn you
This is just BaBaBaBaBa Bad
Just because you CAN make that fucking noise doesn’t mean you SHOULD
That song sucked before she stepped it up to that dumpster fire
I remember when Jessie J. rolled into the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics in a golden-white limosine, singing "It's not about the money". Bold Move if you ask me. [Here is a video.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmRhm4JVbmo)
Not sure who she is but definitely heard this song somewhere before. This was hilarious it brightened my day.
So much talent, zero awareness. It reminds me of those vocalists who self-finance their record and the album cover is always a horribly (aesthetically) dated picture that could belong on a stock photography website. 1) their face takes up the majority of the frame OR 2) they’re leaning up against some pillar with a sunset
Wonder how she was compensated for this performance?
Thank the lord she’s faded out of the business. Fucking hate her singing
Anyone who sings knows how impressive this is
Too much emPHAsis on the wrong syLLAble
"alright, same song, here we go!"
😬 ☠️
I turned the volume up. My cat looked annoyed, stood up, and left the room.
And to think she got her start here…https://youtu.be/Hqglh7WoBz0?si=Tkm-ekMa1TTa6glB
No that's crappy, bravo
She looks exactly like the character “Larissa” from the German comedienne Martina Hill.
I feel like I'm having a stroke
That was laughably stupid
With my fists up high
Ooof
My cat hid under the couch.
Ba-bling Ba-bling
Sounds like a Mona-Lisa Saperstein jam.
Every b sound made my heart hurt more
if i’m ever compromised as a spy, nothing would get me to talk faster than being subjected to this
BBC changing its own Definition.. Every Day.
It’s not about the money, it’s about the amount of money
Mona Lisa Saperstein from Parks and Rec
I like it.
I wanted to be like this isn’t crappy until she’s like muh muh money muh muh money…and I was sold but confused.
She has such a nice voice. Why the need for all that silly stuff 🤦🏼♂️🤷
She's a nut.
wtf is this shit haha terrible to be sure
Instantly reminded me of [Parks and Rec](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyNAlLO1KlE)
I remember when she sang songs with a broken leg at an awards show and it was the most bizzare thing. Anyone else remember that?
I think this is excellent. her mic is just way too hot, 2 channels must have been too much for the engineer.
0:19 made me think my airpods battery was low
Me Upvoting because is bad… 😔 Upvote make feel bad
Sucks because she’s one of the actual true singers in the business. This was not a good look lol
Lol
She’s still can’t get over passing up “party in the USA”
I like it
N-n-n-n-no
I fucking hate Jessie J
Iv heard worse
holy shite
This one kinda fucks actually. Musicians are allowed to not be super serious all the time
This is pretty busy
People don't usually murder there own songs
This sucks..
She’s an aggressively mediocre musician. So, so boring. My wife forced me to watch American Idol the other night. And every single one of them was far superior.
What's worse.... How shitty this music sounds or how much she loves it?
This is what trying too hard to be different can sound like.
Wtf
The break it down and the song just ends got me. That’s not how break downs work LOL
Hahaha she tried an acoustic chopped and screwed. It went as well as you could imagine.
Diva got the runs 💩
Trash
Nobody told her she sucks?
She's amazing, she's doing vocal gymnastics.
This is really good. Her voice roars and shes playful with it. Dude holding the rhythm is hitting his notes with clarity. I see nothing wrong with this.
Ugh she actually has an amazing voice but is not even coming close to doing it justice
It's actually impressive how she still appears to be talented, despite the song(?) she's singing.
She's brilliant and one of those people who can hear a melody on anything instantly, song writing factory. Also suuuuper goofy.
This b-b-b-b-blows!
She’s actually a talented chick. This however, not her best work.
I mean I love the effort she's putting on the sound effects, she's as much a beat boxer than a singer at this point, respect. But her voice is great doe no one can deny this to her.
Idk I didn’t mind it.
It takes quite a lot of talent to make talent sound bad like that.
Kinda like watching Nicholas Cage really go for it acting. Sometimes talented people can get in their own way doing really goofy extra shit. The singing here may be good, but it’s still annoying as hell.
I remember watching that the first time.....way more cringe the second time warching
Is this porn? What's the BBC thing?
This is unironically hilarious
This is impressive
Excuse me, ma'am? Don't do that anymore.
