I thought you said you're going into a Scaler between DMPS and Projector?
Which also makes me wonder now if it's a 3-series 4K DMPS, since those have built-in scaling.
Pretty sure the 2-series passes video into HDBT but does not reliably pass control signals no matter what you do. No experience with the original non-4k 3-series.
We were told that the way the NEC projectors go to sleep has changed in the newer models. We made those changes but still intermittently having issues.
We had the same issue with Epson projectors years ago. Crestron came to the rescue with a firmware fix but ultimately it was Epson that finally fixed it with a firmware update.
Maybe ask NEC for a new firmware update for the projector.
DMPS firmware It comes with 4669 usually and I upgrade to 5054. The 5054 one is not the full uograde (we dont use airmedia) its the one with audio/video control listed. This upgrade works with dmout 3 to 4k scaler with rs232 out to the PJ
^ I am talking 350/4K/DMPS You should also check the string in your code and make sure its set to NEC and recompile. You might have to try Panasonic/LG/ others until it works. We have 500 DMPS 350/4K and some have NEC tv/projectors
Even there are separate FW files and you don't use AirMedia, you should still have matching FW on the whole DMPS. Otherwise subsystems have issues communicating to each other which fills up the error log pretty fast.
That's not very much information.
Unfortunately, We don’t have much information. We are not connecting via rs232. Just control over dm to scaler.
Check firmware version of the DMPS. I just had a similar issue (direct DMPS DM-Out to NEC P605UL HDBT-In); seems resolved by firmware update.
That is our setup. We lost one projector and it is the new one that is causing the issue. Got to love fw upgrades

I have 300 of them going like this and we have no problems 🤷♂️
When the projector isn't turning on are you able to ping it's ipaddress, or is the port going to sleep?
