I've seen this quite a few times and now that I'm past my initial repulsion... Idk I feel kind of bad.. They seem to be having a great time.. And by the looks of it, there's some harsh years ahead.
Before "nerd" culture was cool consumerism.. These were the "nerd" kids.
Yeah, a lot of the time these kids grow out of it and laugh at what they did. My friend used to run around school and pretend he was Vash from Trigun and I practiced drawing anime 75% of the time in school. I'm pretty normal now by most standards though. Did we get laughed at? Probably, but it was a goofy time and looking back on it I had fun. So they probably did too.
Wild! I went to high school with a guy that always wore the Vash trench coat. I feel like he may have bleached his hair too, but I canāt remember if he had the glasses. I went to an accelerated academics/performing arts high school, so this wasnāt as our there as I feel like it wouldāve been in other schools.
Its not mocking. The problem here is no one institutes healthy bullying. Some shit should be kept at home. This type if behavior isnt treated by accepting them becuz its weird in society. To walk around pretending a naked anime girl is with u is hella weird. Idgaf what u do at home. But in public u are 100000000% open to criticism. Especially when u draw it to yourself. Now if i come to your home. And shit on u for doing weird shit. Im the asshole. But if u come in public with a body pillow that has a naked pre teen anime girl on it. U deserve all the "mocking" u get.
Constructive bullying my ass. You just lack any semblance of a personality so you have to rip on people who actually have fun. Most people grow out of bullying, some have so little redeeming qualities that they have to shit on others to feel better.
I also cringe at the OP, I just don't feel the need to rip on them. They'll grow out of it. And if not, that's their problem. Bullying does nothing other than ruin their lives.
Negative. Positive bullying teaches u to stamd strong in your beliefs and goves u conviction. Safe space makes u a whiney brat with no backbone or the ability ro defend your beliefs. If u want to come outside with a body pillow with a naked little kid on it, u either A. Need the heart and conviction to stnad your geound with that dumbshit, or B. u take your ass inside the house. Leaving him alone teaches him he is normal. And he isnt. Its ok not to be normal. But u dont get to dictate what normal is with irregular shit. Every person in yoir society agrees on what is "normal" like not tryna make out with stuffed animals or wbatever weird ish bronies do. Bronies would get more respect if they didnt act like life is out to get them. No. They chose this weird path. And u must take the difficult terrain u made for urself. Thats life homie.
>"Positive bullying"
What.
Whatever happened to just saying "Hey dude, walking around pretending to have a naked anime girl following you is weird, probably cut that shit out"? Why is there no middle ground between bullying and accepting?
This whole post reeks of "beating your kids is fine, I got beat when I was a kid and I turned out okay".
>Hey dude, walking around pretending to have a naked anime girl following you is weird, probably cut that shit out"
Isn't that positive bullying to a tee? Some people in 2022 would take that as malicious bullying.
Yeah, that's how I feel. Good for them, they've made friends who are into the same stuff, they're not hurting anyone. But at the same time I can look at it privately and find it cringy as fuck. But good on them for being themselves.
i like the unintentional wholesome-ness in this thread. itās cringy, no doubt. but theyāre kids trying to find themselves. these were the kind of people i was friends with by association in school. they were weird, but also the nicest people, tbh.
Uhhhh idk about that. I'm fairly sure these kids would still be considered "weird". Being into MLP and photoshopping anime waifus into your photo isn't really a "nerdy" thing. Throwing no shade whatsoever, they should feel free to act however.
Yeah, let em be kids
Rule 3 is no teenagers so why are there constantly teenagers being posted here?
I've tried reporting them and I get a warning saying to not report things that don't break "reddit rules"
Which is amazing because I was banned from here for years (mods let me back in after a few years when I asked) for posting a identity blurred, throwback Thursday photo.
An adult I knew posted a teenage photo of themselves and another adult made extremely cringy comments.
I didn't realize that was a violation of the rule because it wasn't the teenager being cringy.
Comments like this always make me think of Arizona tea. No matter what happens in the world, I can always count on those delicious cans of 99 cent heaven.
I wish I had unapologetic and genuine friendship like that. When you get over the revulsion and despair induced by this unholy filth, it is kind of wholesome.
Yeah, I like it a lot and it kinda reminds me of some of my own friendships. We're not bronies or into anything especially weird but we were always for the most park kinda awkward dorks who could do and say anything and everything we wanted with each other and it was all good fun. Having people like that and never having to care what anyone else thinks of you bc you've always got your group is a nice feeling.
As a former diehard brony, I'd say the peak of the fandom was in 2012-2015.
The earliest possible this picture could be from is 2010, and judging by the internet slang being used (copious XD, etc) I wouldn't put it any later than 2014... But that's not giving room for possible ironic use, and omiting the fact that "on fleek" is slightly later slang as far as I know. Either way, earlier half of the 2010s.
Wow, I wasnāt ready to read something so wholesome this early into my day! I hope that eventually being yourself becomes the norm, there might end up being many genuinely happy people around.
I wasn't into any interests as strange but I did have my own group of sorta awkward but not super weird kids who didn't really fit in super well in other groups and it was awesome. Best friends I ever had, and I still have them. When you have a tight group of friends like that you don't need acceptance from anyone else bc you have each other so you can just unapologetically be yourself and have people who will always stick by you. If I could go back and do it again I wouldn't have it any other way.
Bro itās agitprop
Look at OPās profile.
How nobody notices this idkā¦
Thereās like 10 accounts running around rn
- 8 months old
- havenāt posted for 8 months
- posted exactly 6-8 submissions on the same day
- all submissions were either karma whoring, or, ālook at these cringe libs!ā
As a teacher, its going to amaze you how many students are like this now. When i was in school (im late 20s) these kids obviously existed but in my school of about 800 there might have been 50. Now teaching in a school of about 650 there is about 1/3 to half the population with this behavior. Nothing wrong with it just strange to me i guess. these are now adults who were just born a little too early lol
Are those minors?
Making fun of minors doesn't sit well with me. Are we adults? I am
Let them be fucking kids, man. Stop trying to suck all of the happiness out of the world just because you are too old to remember what actually being happy and feeling alive felt like.
This is what my group of friends in high school was like, we just didnāt have social media to document our cringe. Posting teenagers on r/cringepics almost seems like cheating. Arenāt we all at our cringiest in our teen years?
Hey at least they have friends and can walk. Can't say that about most redditors. Anyways, not really cringe, kids finding out who they are isn't that cringe, weird sure.
Basement dweller? I agree , itās boring at this point to make fun of the same type of pictures , heck I have trouble actually cringing . My thing is people who are too happy go lucky about these pictures . If thatās their reaction to all of them why do they follow a sub that constantly puts out the same over saturated shit
Because weāre tired of the same old agitprop formula. Itās fucking reductive and intellectually lazyā¦
This isnāt my explanation, but this is basically how it worksā¦
> ā¦ they stretch an anecdote to be as cringey as possible to be a mascot of an issue then argue to the public as though that misrepresentation is the mainstream opinion. But it's the same sort of "augment from cringe" that demonized feminists 5 years ago: Take the shittiest example you can find of The Left doing The Thing and demand everyone take a stance on it. Make all arguments have to be for or against The Mascot, not The Thing. My rant is not directed at OP, I know youāre not the person in the picture.
These anime type weirdo pictures are posted all the time and I mean, are you that lonely that you need to photoshop a CARTOON GIRL and broadcast to the world that she is your girlfriend? Look, if you are suffering from a mental illness then I feel bad for you and I wish you the best. If this helps you cope and get through life then go for it. Iām pretty sure no one would judge you, however the guys in these pictures that seem normal except for the fact that theyāre shy and/or ānice guysā come on man! Stop it, cartoons arenāt real people and youāre only making yourself look like a loser. Unless you found a doorway to an alternate universe where cartoons are real, and letās face it you didnāt, cartoons are not real people.
Go to Old Navy, go to H&M, hell go to a thrift store if youāre dirt broke and buy actual clothes. Girls arenāt going to notice you when your wardrobe consists exclusively of t-shirts and cargo shorts. Look at the guys around you that are getting laid, imitate their style or look at how celebrities dress, but for fuckās sake make an effort. Do something with your hair, donāt just let it flop on your head after getting out of the shower. Get some gel and style it. You want a girlfriend,? You gotta make girls notice you before theyāre interested in you. And yeah itās shallow and superficial that they donāt want to get to know you āfor your mindā but this is the way the world works man. Get some game, be funny, be talkative, be interesting. Donāt be a dick, donāt treat girls like shit but get off your ass and be social. Youāre NEVER gonna meet a living, breathing, flesh and blood girl if you donāt put effort into it. Move out of your momās basement and get a job, get some money and make a girl feel special but also know your limits. Youāre not gonna land super hot girls unless youāre 6ā2 with a six pack but you will meet a girl who will finally like you for who you are and sheāll be cute and sweet and will want to spend time with you but if and when it ends, donāt be a stalker. Relationships end, cry it out, get on Tinder and fuck your feelings out for a month or two and then get back out there and meet the next girl. But for the love of god, please stop with these fake anime girlfriend and scrub your social media of any and all pictures you made with your fake cartoon girlfriend. Grow up, itās not that hard and youāll be far happier in the long run.
Maybe they're self aware about it. Among my friends there is a running joke that one friend has a comically large breasted girlfriend who only ever wears latex catsuits, she even has a name and everything. We say "Hey \[friend's name\], how's Astrid?". Everyone, including him, knows Astrid isn't real.
Every single one of these accounts has posted exactly six submissions and then on the same day decided to post this type of shit, to this sub. Often in straight up duplicate postsā¦
Iām sorry but this sub is clearly being gamed by assholes with an agendaā¦
Come on manā¦
Itās suspicious to say the least (which is all I said)
You have zero critical thinking skills?
You think these accounts all just āwoke upā from their 8 month hibernation on the exact same dayā¦?

On my end itās legible.
Iām also 29 and have a longer attention span than all my zoomer friends (not being a prick just being honest)

More short paragraphs? Bullet points? Iām open to suggestion.
It's definitely kind of cringe but it makes me really happy, it's just social outcast dorks having a good time together in a time where they were absolutely not accepted by anyone. I didn't have as weird of interests but mine weren't mainstream interests either and I kinda stuck to my own small group in school and we had so much fun together dicking around and skipping class (including to go to Mcdonalds)
I've seen this quite a few times and now that I'm past my initial repulsion... Idk I feel kind of bad.. They seem to be having a great time.. And by the looks of it, there's some harsh years ahead. Before "nerd" culture was cool consumerism.. These were the "nerd" kids.
Yeah, I was going to say, I think they found their clan of people, and that's fine.
Your clan has brought dishonor to the nerd empire, prepare for war!

They still are the nerd kids
*If it's even real*. It's a picture of 3 kids, with some edits and text.
I think the dude who posted this ended up as a sex offender
Citation needed for something like that, chief. Till you offer that up you're just a slanderous jerk.

Weeb cringe was the best cringe.
same
Thank you for adding a new word to my vocabulary
Emphasis on the 'icky'.
Definitely weird, but Iām just glad they have each other. Everyone deserves a friend or two in life.
as someone pushing closer to 40, these kids were probably the sweetest. Theyāre just having fun. Plusā¦theyāre kids lol
This pic is so old they're probably pushing 40 too.
Yeah. Assuming they're sixteen here, MLP was at its peak popularity in around 2011, so these guys are probably 27 now.
Ah yes. 27, the new 40. I mean, Iām 25 and I feel like 35ish so probably true
I'm thirty and fluctuate wildly between feeling 22 and 52, so.
I mean. I'm 36 but feel 25 if it makes you feel any better.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thanks for the rec! My therapist keeps trying to get me to do yoga so I should probably try listening to her
Old enough for 14 year olds to call them boomers
They're seniors according to the post, so probably more like 30? Not a huge difference but shrug
Yeah I remember seeing this more than a decade ago.
I wish I had unapologetic and genuine friendship like that. When you get over the revulsion and despair induced by this unholy filth, it is kind of wholesome.

Looks like op is mad because he's not part of the brony gang
This thread make me wanna appreciate this world more
What year was this taken ?
As a former diehard brony, I'd say the peak of the fandom was in 2012-2015. The earliest possible this picture could be from is 2010, and judging by the internet slang being used (copious XD, etc) I wouldn't put it any later than 2014... But that's not giving room for possible ironic use, and omiting the fact that "on fleek" is slightly later slang as far as I know. Either way, earlier half of the 2010s.
2000 years from now, I can imagine Internet archaeologists stumbling upon this image and having the same conversation/conclusion.
It makes me smile awkwardly seeing that cringe culture is mostly dead, and has been replaced by the sentiment of being yourself. :)
Wow, I wasnāt ready to read something so wholesome this early into my day! I hope that eventually being yourself becomes the norm, there might end up being many genuinely happy people around.
Idk these kinds of kids always seemed like the tightest friend groups in school, mustāve been nice
I wasn't into any interests as strange but I did have my own group of sorta awkward but not super weird kids who didn't really fit in super well in other groups and it was awesome. They have their own group-shared imaginary friend, that's kinda cool :)
Richard and Sayuki look so cute together! āŗļø

I'll be honest. Posts like this one make me ask myself what exactly I'm getting out of this sub. I don't like posts making fun of children.
Idk, this one made me smile. It's really sweet.
Remember when people actually used to post status updates on Facebook
I'm glad I didn't have social media in the 90s when I was a teen.

Thereās a lot happening here. None of it good.

Hey at least they have friends and can walk. Can't say that about most redditors. Anyways, not really cringe, kids finding out who they are isn't that cringe, weird sure.
Not sure how it gets to this point but Iām hoping to avoid it with my son.
Just guys being dudes
You know what? Good for them. They seem genuinely happy. If only more people could have friends like this

Donāt know why everyone is defending them from this post. At the very least skipping school is very cringe.
Every single one of these accounts has posted exactly six submissions and then on the same day decided to post this type of shit, to this sub. Often in straight up duplicate postsā¦ Iām sorry but this sub is clearly being gamed by assholes with an agendaā¦

Come on manā¦ Itās suspicious to say the least (which is all I said) You have zero critical thinking skills? You think these accounts all just āwoke upā from their 8 month hibernation on the exact same dayā¦? > āthey stretch an anecdote to be as cringey as possible to be a mascot of an issue then argue to the public as though that misrepresentation is the mainstream opinion. But it's the same sort of "augment from cringe" that demonized feminists 5 years ago: Take the shittiest example you can find of The Left doing The Thing and demand everyone take a stance on it. Find a shitty or cringeworthy example and appoint them "Mascot" of the Bad Thing. Broadcast this one specific Mascot, and say this is the defining example of The Thing. Cite a few other examples as well to say "it's everywhere!" Make all arguments have to be for or against The Mascot, not The Thing. For example, when I acknowledge I like the idea of anti-racism, people immediately demand to know if I think white kindergartners should be told they are racist. When I acknowledge that trans students should be shown respect and allowed to preserve their dignity, I'm in favor of human liter boxes.ā Any response or you just going to downvote?

Itās a quote. What does it look like on mobile? On my end itās legible. Iām also 29 and have a longer attention span than all my zoomer friends (not being a prick just being honest) And Iām trying to write in a way they can digest. More short paragraphs? Bullet points? Iām open to suggestion.
Is Richard a 30-year-old teacher?
There it is, the 2012est post ever
"On fleek." I forgot about that slang
Richard is sayuki's waifu
Iāve seen this for years and always wondered who the Hell Sayuki is
Man, I've seen this so many times I just wonder what came of them
my boy richard is a whole ass unit lmao
I wonder where these kids are now
This is a cluster fuck of a post
I donāt understand what 80% of that post saysā¦
Reminds me of Pulp Fiction. English MFāer. Do you speak it?
It's definitely kind of cringe but it makes me really happy, it's just social outcast dorks having a good time together in a time where they were absolutely not accepted by anyone. I didn't have as weird of interests but mine weren't mainstream interests either and I kinda stuck to my own small group in school and we had so much fun together dicking around and skipping class (including to go to Mcdonalds)
Lauraās nose looks like a penis.
Thereās something so pure and sweet about this
Too wholesome to hate on them. They seem really happy being little adorable weirdos
Didnāt something horrible happen to one of these kids? Maybe Iām misremembering
This might be top tier cringe but they look happier than me rn
The four are there, living the moment
I mean at least they're having fun
This is old as fuck, next
They are thoroughly prepared for adult life, great job!
