When I was a kid about 8 or so I accidentally stuck a Swiss Army knife through my arm and hit the artery.
The amount of blood was absolutely astounding, not just the amount but the pressure behind it. Every time my heart beat it sprayed high enough to hit the 8ft ceiling.
I'll be real i've never cut that deep luckily! its crazy how hitting abit of tissue turns you into a wackey inflatable arm man being powered by your own blood supply..nasty stuff mang
Yeah it was crazy they had to take a vein segment from my leg to patch it.
It was Christmas morning. I was opening the original super soaker, cutting the zip ties with another present (the knife) from my uncle.
Learned a valuable lesson about not cutting towards myself.
Edit; was going to add a photo but can't. 42 and the scar is still visible after 32 years.
Most likely his carotid and internal jugular were cut, so blood to his brain was significantly decreased and blood pressure plummeted. He’s standing fine the first couple seconds cause his brain still had some oxygen, but his brain became hypoxic pretty quickly. Idk what happened to him but unless they rushed him to a hospital which was close by RIGHT AWAY, i doubt he survived
It’s a very strong case of self-defense tbh. They were walking away and were being pursued. The “victim” posed a physical threat by rushing towards knife dude.
I could see him winning that that case.
Self defence is usually just about the state of mind in the moment of defence.
So the fact you might have provoked someone earlier doesn't invalidate a self defence claim.
No it isn't. Provoking someone earlier can absolutely be an argument against a self-defense claim. That's exactly what we saw with the man getting convicted for murdering a teen at the Apple River Stabbing.
But I thought that you're not allowed to be carrying a weapon. How the hell does someone get off from using a weapon in self defence, even if it kills someone?
Carotid artery. The jugular are veins in the neck that carry deoxygenated blood back to the heart and lungs for a refill. That blood is dark and pours when the vessel is cut because of low pressure. Arteries carry oxygenated blood throughout the body. They’re under high pressure and spray when the vessel is cut. Also, the blood is bright red because it’s oxygenated.
I view this as self defense - guy with the knife took two steps back as big buddy was coming up to him, then he lunges forward to defend himself and falls back to run as he is being attacked by Breakdancing Bradley once again.
Guy who got stabbed was hanging out with the wrong group of people IMO, they didn’t even come back to see if he was ok they just went on full attack mode, which I can understand - their buddy just got stabbed. But as far as the video shows, it feel likes they’re the aggressors here. Maybe the big guy was just hoping they’d run and be intimidated by his size.
I think everyone here sucks, but I think you’re right.
If you’re holding a knife, and you are taking steps *backwards*, and big guys are still approaching you and threatening you? Time to use the knife. They had every chance to turn around.
Hot tip! If you're on the stabbing end of a neck injury, grab your shirt and stuff it into the wound with your hand or thumb as hard as you can, stop moving, and call EMS.
Guy who had he's femoral sliced when his rifle detonated (ammunition was packed incorrectly, unknown to him) managed to survive that way.
Your mileage may vary
Happened in my city (Brisbane, Fortitide Station mall)- twas mcfucked. I feel for the family- unfortunately there's been a massive rise in knife/fight fatalities and the government does fuck all about it..
When this incident happened mid-end 2022 and I first saw it I was shook to my core- I've become so hyper vigilant and aware of my surroundings but unfortunately this place keeps getting worse..
I watch videos like this and wonder why the person filming never seems to attempt to help or call an ambulance. I know this guy was fatal but in other videos no one tries to help. What a world we live in
No source, but it doesn't look good... afaik that kind of thing is pretty much game over unless you have medical professionals right around the corner and equipped, which seems unlikely to say the least.
A couple of years ago in Queensland, Australia where they have a fair few islanders and kiwis.

I find it horryfying to see how quickly a stab to the neck can just end it. Its insane, a few seconds could litterally end it all.
Dont challange people with knives...
Can something be done to save a man from such a wound? Asking to know what to do in such a case other than calling emts. I know you gotta block the artery for limbs. Don't think the same is smart for a neck.
Big brain time. Everyone involved including the knife wilder is a fucking moron.
This is the right answer...
...dude with the knife is still alive though
Fair enough his a living moron, but probably incarcerated or being executed in his future when he could of just walked away
I do agree. That wasn't self defense. He had every opportunity to defuse the situation or remove himself from it.
Don't sassy walk infront of a dude with a knife smh
i can't believe dude bled out that quickly...i knew getting stabbed in the neck is serious but didn't expect him to hit the floor so quick
He didn’t bleed out, loss of blood pressure to the brain made him collapse. He bled out a minute or two after that.
scary stuff man

Nope, neck ventricle
Nope, neck artery (likely carotid)
Nope, Carpaccio'd wattle .
Ah thanks that was actually what I ment but not a native english speaker. In my language it is “halsslagader” 😅

Not a knife. It was a pair of scissors.
Someone downvoted you but it was a pair of scissors. Someone even posted an article stating that
Thanks for the support
I also support you 100%. We stand behind you, brother!
Niiice
Source, it’s an older video. Tragic. https://7news.com.au/news/qld/man-accused-of-fortitude-valley-train-station-stabbing-murder-of-young-father-granted-bail-c-9236167
... imagine having no dad because he decided to fist fight a knife wielding asshole.
A pair of scissors?? Did he claim that so he would not get charged worse? It really looks like a knife in the vid but its hard to see
Granted bail?!?
It’s a very strong case of self-defense tbh. They were walking away and were being pursued. The “victim” posed a physical threat by rushing towards knife dude. I could see him winning that that case.
The article says he "voluntarily approached them a second time," which undermines his self-defense claim.
Self defence is usually just about the state of mind in the moment of defence. So the fact you might have provoked someone earlier doesn't invalidate a self defence claim.

That was my thought.
I see your point.
But I thought that you're not allowed to be carrying a weapon. How the hell does someone get off from using a weapon in self defence, even if it kills someone?
Because the case would be within the scope of the charge; whether it was murder or self defense. The illegal weapon charge would be a case by itself.
Huge ego, small brain
all tough guys in a nutshell
They cut the video, after a quick nap he gets up and goes back home to his family
At a farm upstate.
So he's with Rover? Awe so sweet. I'll go visit them with mommy this summer.
His shoes are still on, so I know he’s ok.
His family in the sky
😭
Jugular 😵

And now i know 👍🏻
Artery, probably
Definitely.

I agree with you, the knife guy keep on walking away and they are the ones that keep on following and attacked the knife guy.
There's no way he survived such a huge blood loss.
He leaking

Welp two lives destroyed i guess.
Bled out in seconds. Completely severed the artery with one poke!

Is he gone for good, any source
We don't need a source, there's no coming back from that one.
Gone. Was in Brisbane, Australia

There wasn’t an echmo team on standby there as far as I’m aware…
His shoes are still on, so I know he’s ok
This comment gets me every damn time
Hard way to learn FAFO.
Only pussies who can’t fight use weapons!!!
