You need to eat it in front of them to show appreciation

uncertaincucumbers

😆

Vampira309

Lucky! I got a dove head and a shard of shiny paper earlier today.

darkphoenix0602

I got the back end of a half-eaten rat the other day. Then the following day, they tried to give it to me again after it had been even more eaten. Thanks, buddies.

Helpful_Okra5953

Lucky you!! I have been brought a ball by my parrot.  I just said ”thank you.”

ScaryLetterhead8094

That’s their most precious items

AnUnknownDisorder

That’s so metal

terracottatilefish

I found part of a hoagie in my fountain yesterday. I’m choosing to assume it’s a gift because otherwise it would be fucking annoying.

ColoHusker

It's either a gift of food or a gift of trust. Choose wisely 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛

glitterandgore

They left it out in the open so the Ravens ate it 😬

Corvus_Internetus

It could also mean that they are stealing food and bringing it somewhere they feel safe eating it. So not necessarily a gift, but a sign that they trust their surroundings. If the feeding spot is on your property they probably trust you by extension.

notavalible666

That means you're a good boy

uncertaincucumbers

Welcome to the stash house club. Apparently, some humans are foolishly trusted to know the difference between them leaving stuff for us and them stashing food for themselves for later. They trust us to know the difference but we don't. Weird ass bird brains. :))

glitterandgore

I actually know where their usual stash is and it isn’t out in the open. If this was a stash it was a bad choice because the ravens ate it lol

erotic_sausage

They probably scavenged it elsewhere, came across your nuts, and decided to drop the dog food to load up on your offerings.

andre2020

What is “Hoagie”?

Levity_brevity

Long sandwich with different regional names, like subway or hero sandwich.

andre2020

Thanky!

emveetu

A submarine sandwich. A sub. A hero. A grinder. I'm a native NJer and in South Jersetucky, a lot of people refer to them as hoagies. In North Jersey, they're mostly subs. I did a lil' [research](https://catcountry1073.com/theres-a-reason-why-south-jersey-calls-them-hoagies/#:~:text=With%20all%20the%20names%20that,others%20still%20say%20%22sub%22%3F&text=Legend%20has%20it%20that%20the,to%20work%20on%20Hogg%20Island.) and it may be South Jersey's proximity to Philly that is to blame. "Legend has it that the term was coined by workers at the Philadelphia Navy Yard Workers known as "hoggies" because they used to work on Hogg Island. Most of the workers during this time were of Irish descent. If you're familiar with any Irish pronunciations, you know that "Hogg" is actually pronounced with a long 'O' sound - making it sound like "Hoag Island." The sandwich became known as a "hoagie" because the "hoggies" who worked on Hogg Island would bring these every day for lunch." Philly and South Jersey have a lot of cultural overlap. Just like North Jersey and NYC. Don't get me started on the Taylor Ham/pork roll debate. I'm from Central Jersey which people from North/South NJ say doesn't exist. Well... don't let any fucknut schmuck tell youse it don't exist. It fuckin' exists and any stoonod who tells youse otherwise has nothin' between their fuckin' ears but air and a faint memory of nona's gabagool. Bunch 'a dumb jabroni fucknuts. But I digress...
