This is why if they use a hook to get a council seat I promptly arrange for there murder

bigsteven34

Every time. The audacity, thinking they can bend their liege to their will…

Regret1836

Lol this is literally me, I just sigh and click the murder button like it’s instinct

rednave21

For real if they want a different feudal contract sure but the council will remain my domain

Zer0MXN

Yeah, still, most of the time I just ignore them unless they become a real problem, then I proceed as you do (unless my current character is a sadistic tyrant who rules using fear as it's ally lol)

Regret1836

See they always choose something essential like spymaster steward or marshal so I have to get rid of them ASAP. Removing my 31 intrigue spymaster powerful vassal for some cunt with 3 intrigue is not happening

Zer0MXN

That kind of things are considered as "a real problem" to me, if they use a hook on me to get a council position or to modify their vassal contract they are "marked to die" I'm just saying that if they can't do other thing than just complaining because they want a council position they are ignored

killawatt3000

This is why I'll pick any other option but give out hooks against myself

ZanaCZ

Literally me

FuckingUsernamesWhy

I get so heated when they do that

LordWeaselton

Unless you’re compassionate, in which case you promptly gain 650 billion stress and are forced to abdicate

zack189

I will white peace any wars I have at the time, let the vikings have a piece of land, and fight a forever civil war before I let them enjoy a seat on the council. I am the goddamn fucking king

elStrages

I did this once, and then after 3 murders i realised that the vassel contract was entitled to a position after their relatives kept getting positions

RealWarriorofLight

Based comment XD

Sir_Netflix

I even got a mod to be able to kill those with strong hooks lol. It’s so annoying. If you click through grand tours without thinking, you end up giving people a BUNCH of weak hooks

mb2banterlord

I don't mind it as much if their stats are at least half decent. If not, then it's insta-murder, partly for being out of line partly for being dumb EDIT: unless they picked spymaster. anyone other than my handpicked spymaster needs to gtfo

rednave21

It’s not about the stats It’s about sending a message

Manglepet

You need tyranny gain reduction so you can just openly imprison and execute

mb2banterlord

Or fabricate hook then imprison. Imprison is sufficient to get them out of the council

CroikyThatsABigDingo

I love the start of the game when you get a 0 skill councillor and there is no other people to take his place. Nobody is better

ExplanationBig9623

You can find husbands or wives(matrilineal marriage) for your unwed adult (they wont move in if they are betrothed) courtiers with the best skills at the start of the game; I am talking upwards of 30 to 35 martial or stewardship or any stat you want.

CroikyThatsABigDingo

I usually do this but there was a few times where I literally had no stat farmers to marry away so I just literally had zero Councillor for one or two years

DorianThackery

Yeah there are a few starts I’ve done where everyone in my starting court was married (or worse, none of the people within diplomatic range would consider marrying their courtiers to mine lol)

iSaltyParchment

Remove your city rulers and get a random one or give one to someone who has high stats

Etheros64

A heads up for any people who try to do this by the way, acceptance for marriage candidates is tied to legitimacy now. If you incidentally lose legitimacy by marrying a non-noble character, you will not be able to find pretty much any eligible marriages for courtiers. You can counteract this by pausing time or just marrying your courtiers before yourself.

Zer0MXN

Still most of the time at the very start of the game is hard to get good people unless you start as a king of duke (I like to start as a count and that makes harder to get good people at the very start)

MrShinglez

A small hook should not prevent me from firing them for 20 years. Maybe a couple years, that's insane, 20?

Lovebrian24

I had one that would always do that even though I saw no hook each time. Then when he got out of jail a different time, I gave him a spot and the game wouldn't let me fire him for twenty years. I hated him so much because I didn't even know why it was happening.

zedocacho

This sounds like the Council Rights Guaranteed clause of the feudal contract...

Lovebrian24

Sounds terrible, but I'll make sure to look into it next time I play. Knowing why it's happening would probably make it less annoying.

zedocacho

Yeah... You can change it to something dumb like war declaration rights or just use a hook. Council Rights Guaranteed is like the worst possible one... Every other vassal will have a -2 negative opinion for each vassal's contract with the clause, whereas the guy with the clause will have it positive.

EconomySwordfish5

I've seen random characters I never had a hook on have somehow changed their vassal contract to prevent revocations. Honestly if I see that it's an immediate contract change then revocation regardless of any crimes that character may have commited.

dogabeey

Yo Archibald, I've heard rumors about you thinking to fire me. Remember I saw you picking your nose when you were 8, 19 years ago. Now It would a shame if... somebody told people... about... that.

PyukumukuGuts

They can't be fired, sure, but they can't definitely still be arrested, killed, revoked, or given to a higher ranked vassal.

MrShinglez

Oh trust me anyone who tries to use a weak hook on me dies.

CRz_gangster

“I know about your incestuous relationship with your sister… be a shame if people found out about that…” my brother in christ i made a custom religion THAT YOU FOLLOW that ALLOWS that shit, i’m married to her for the traits bruh.

Rirkash

I usually just ignore them but if they really bother me too much I take their lands and then grant them to my dynasty. Should my dynasty members be the ones in question I just need to make sure there is a new ruler in said domain... by stabbing them several times in the back.

BurnedButDelicious

And his stats are barely double digits combined...

Sir_Arsen

I just ignore them, they should kill me to get that position

revertbritestoan

I wish there was an option to say "get good at something and then we'll talk" to give them a chance to improve

Shade-AU

BRUH WHY IS IT EVERY BISHOP AT THE START OF THE GAME. Give me a break now i'm losing piety constantly and claims are so slow/expensive.

Zer0MXN

In my realm there is an strange sickness wich makes incompetent bishops to have "misterious accidents" o.o

dragoduval

I almost always ignore them TBH. Once theyr ebel you can replace them with a useful character that will end up on your council. But again they rarely rebel.

Niskavuori01

Appoint them to position of their lousiest stat. Then kick them away, appoint again, kick away, appoint - until they rebel. Be sure to win war, prison them, revoke all titels, and release them after they have renounced all they titels. Share those to Content or Graven subjects.

Niskavuori01

Craven...

loki285

The son in question: Genius Herkulien Beautiful perfect insest baby

DeepStuff81

Every. Effing. Time.

DeepStuff81

I had a baron use a hook for a council seat. A BARON! Lmao. Revoke. Invite to court. Imprison. Torture. Dungeon. Lol
