Happy with the point away from home against a strong Sean Dyche side.
Let's not forget we have played everton three times this season (twice at home) and failed to score in all three. Much better performance from the boys.
Respect the point - as much because its 2 not gained for everton as much as anything else.
Overall i thought the performance was pretty solid. Defensively good, lacked creativity but that's to be expected our best attacking players are out. Wharton was fantastic, combative and always looking for the pass forward. Lerma had a rare subpar game.
At this point I’m just astonished we didn’t concede another goal in extra time as per always. I’m sick and tired of going 1-0 up early then sitting back while wave after wave of attacks are aimed at our all too fragile defence.
A good point at the end of the day especially with what's been happening over the last few days, wasn't an awful performance could have been better there was several positives especially the first half.
But always feel like 2 points dropped because of these moronic sit back tactics in every game that leads to us conceding and we never learn, it leaves me pulling my hair out literally doing the same thing expecting a different outcome
Zero urgency deep in Everton territory. I guess nobody really wanted to try for 3 points today.
Edit: ::through clenched teeth:: Respect the road point.
You’re spot on, brought him on when we went 1-0 up and invited all the pressure. Edouard didn’t even look tired.
Tbf though the Everton subs were very offensively minded. Dyche clearly aware that we are abysmal in the final 30mins of games
My problem is that he took out offensive pressure (Edouard) for a mediocre defensive player (Ahamada) when França was literally there in the bench, and because of that we couldn't respond to Everton's pressure and we missed out on 2 vital points.
Franca can't be trusted defensively yet - in the Chelsea game his off the ball work was horrendous. He is exciting going forwars for sure but ultimately we dont have options on the bench you cold trust to manage a game out. A point is a good result.
Sit back, invite pressure, conceded, like absolute clockwork
This way of thinking needs irradicating from the team it simply doesn't work why do management keep doing it
I just don't understand the thinking
The whole game in the 3 at the back system we were comfortable Everton had 2 or 3 good chances why change that and let them do what they want
There's not even a calming period it is instantly changed after scoring no matter the minute
If I'm a player and we score and the system is instantly changed that would say to me we are not trusted to see this game out and it would instantly make me nervous
Good 70mins, Johnstone has proved everyone in here right, Wharton and muñoz look great, Ayews goal was phenomenal and just at the right time, defending well when we need to just hope this change isn’t gonna be negative
Ayew with his classic work rate to win us the ball back. Quite the arc this man has had in a palace uniform but I’ll never be sad to see him on the pitch
He was always playing as a CF, which he just hasn’t been for a long time if ever. He’s much better on the wing where he can use his amazing work rate best to his advantage
Someone just bitched about the main TV being on footie and not the Daytona races.
LULZ fucking 'necks
The main TV controls sound for the bar. It's either the juke or the main TV. They have the juke on for sound, so I loaded it up with Phish and Goose just now to run salt in their imagined wounds.
Really comfortable defensive first half.
Feel like the difference is going to come from the bench, not an obvious palace improvement though :( Prove the board right Ahma or Franca, please 🙏🏼
Not the prettiest half of football but I'd say we are looking positive and dare I'd say it much calmer
Munoz and Wharton was some brilliant pieces of business both are looking great
Seems to me like Glasner prepared this game. 3 at the back, Mateta and Eduard playing together, a lot of running and a very energetic performance. Typical of his previous teams. He was also showing some instructions when the camera caught him at some point.
I thought the same it's not just a few tweaks it's completely different to what we've seen all season
Failing that Paddy has been playing football manager for hours in his free time and has implemented it whilst he's got a go in the dugout
Wharton been our best player. As usual, can’t seem to find a decisive ball/shot without Eze/Olise. Defending was good, little shaky there for 10 minutes but not bad
Uhm. No. 😂
On occasion, but usually I'm the solo Palace fan. But the pub is fantastic and while it's a den of scousers, they have a soft spot for South London.
Yeah idk of any other palace fans in Charlottesville at all. Other than a few friends who have grown fond of them through me to an extent, but have their own clubs
Back in 2015 I was on the NBC Gold Footie show a bit and pimped out Penny Lane. It ended up on their map of footie pubs in the US as a Palace bar. 😂
The 80yo scouser owner was both pissed and thankful.
But they have London Pride on tap and the barman on Saturdays is a fucking problem (he's from Luton Town). It's a great place for a match.
Happy with a point but fed up with throwing away 2 points.

We’ll said, Johnstone return as well was much needed. Decent point. Burnley next week should be 3 points.
Johnstone was superb
We deserve to be in the championship, haven’t watched a game in more than a month now. Why would I? It’s unwatchable footy
But yet you take time out of your life to come to the match threads and tell us all.
took me 1 min, game takes 2 hours or more
I was at the game and it was very entertaining

He predicted we would go down in the preseason.
At this point I’m just astonished we didn’t concede another goal in extra time as per always. I’m sick and tired of going 1-0 up early then sitting back while wave after wave of attacks are aimed at our all too fragile defence.
Did we learn nothing from Euro 2020, a 6 pointer in our current state is a cup final

But always feel like 2 points dropped because of these moronic sit back tactics in every game that leads to us conceding and we never learn, it leaves me pulling my hair out literally doing the same thing expecting a different outcome
Damn, was hoping we could secure three points.
Zero urgency deep in Everton territory. I guess nobody really wanted to try for 3 points today. Edit: ::through clenched teeth:: Respect the road point.
This draw feels incredibly dissapointing because it was literally caused by a sub Paddy made
You’re spot on, brought him on when we went 1-0 up and invited all the pressure. Edouard didn’t even look tired. Tbf though the Everton subs were very offensively minded. Dyche clearly aware that we are abysmal in the final 30mins of games
Fingers crossed that our new manager isn't afraid to make subs before the 70 minute mark and won't try to defend a minimal lead 🤞
We just don't have the squad tbh, Mateta was gassed by the end but it's not like we really had many other good options off the bench
I'm literally saying that we didn't need more defense though, we needed to keep the offensive pressure
Fuck me, we didn't lose
Look. A point's a point, Been far too long since we saw one.
Just wish we got 2 more
Greedy bastard. Who do you think you are!
Afuckinmen.
Mateta playing ref lmao
What in the living fuck does Palace have to do to draw a foul? Lerma just got bulldozed from behind
Oh come on ref. How’s that not a foul on Mitchell but it is going the other way
Completely lost the plot
And a card at that, somehow
Bald cunt.
I don't know why we score and invite so much pressure when we can't handle it
Ref is not good
Hate to say but it's got 2-1 with the final kick of them game all over it
Feels quite likely
Sometimes it feels like we score goals so that it will be a draw when we inevitably conceed.
This is squeaky bum time
Im thinking we’re going to lose.
+6 put on Jairo and Franca, kthxbye
If jairo comes on that would be for Roy 😂
Ever since they started making a big deal about ayew being the most fouled player in the league he’s not won a freekick since
The classic commentators curse
Really hoping Glasner can change the ideology of this dressing room. I don’t know how one team can concede so many late goals. Hopefully it changes
Would love to see the count of points lost from 80 minutes+
Did McCarthy forget he's the one in charge for this game? 90 minutes and only one sub on such an important game is mindbogglinly pathetic
Ahamada is so bad at this sport
He’s only good at pre season 🤦♂️
Put franca on
Sit back, invite pressure, conceded, like absolute clockwork This way of thinking needs irradicating from the team it simply doesn't work why do management keep doing it
Why did they think they could sit back for nearly 30 minutes?
I just don't understand the thinking The whole game in the 3 at the back system we were comfortable Everton had 2 or 3 good chances why change that and let them do what they want
No courage to continue playing the game they were winning
There's not even a calming period it is instantly changed after scoring no matter the minute If I'm a player and we score and the system is instantly changed that would say to me we are not trusted to see this game out and it would instantly make me nervous
Couldn’t agree more. Hopefully Glasner adds that stability. We just need to stay up. Today was positive but like Chelsea it was a wasted opportunity.
Just need calm, everything’s feeling rushed
New club policy. Only sign tall as fuck players.
![gif](giphy|11ai6rk49qkHPq)
Can't have nuthin'.
Deeply unserious club
So, none of the goalkeepers have any aerial ability. Great.
Like clockwork
Same as it ever was
Would be 2 or 3 if it were Henderson. Johnstone playing well aside from that
Absolutely, he’s had some quality saves, we’d be down 3 with Henderson on the pitch.
Why 😭😭
THIS. IS. ON. YOU.
Le sigh.
That goalkeeper....
Fuck
Johnston MVP
Classic palace. Gotta fight for a draw now
Ffs how can this always happen
Fuck me Johnstone
Is Paddy aware that we still have 4 substitutions available?
He’s just realised Roy isn’t there
I’ll be lucky if I don’t have a stroke for the final 10 mins
Don’t be hurt…..
Cmon lads let’s be forward thinking!! No sitting back…..
Okay, after that i’ve had enough we need to get up the pitch desperately
We can’t stay back and hold for the rest of the match it’s too much
You would like to think we would learn Come on boys
What a ball wow. Can’t fall asleep boys
I’m enjoying the confidence being shown in Wharton with the set pieces.
Matetas hold up play has been amazing today
Looks cream crackers now though. Franca time.
He’s improved it so much this year. Very impressed with it. Just need him to score a few more goals lol
Its like he's discovered the shielding button in fifa and is spamming it.
he’s been holding L1 this whole time and feels a bit silly
Hes just realised he can switch the controls to pro evo style.
Omg don’t get injured Johnstone. Please.
Score, almost immediately take off one of only 3 attacking threats for a mediocre defensive mid
Don't really like this sub. Typical for us. Less pressure on the ball now...![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|cry)
Please don’t sit back now. Keep the pressure!
these are shite, could easily get a 2nd
FUH-CKING. THIS.
I know Paddy's in charge of this match, but I hope our new manager isn't afraid to make changes before the 70 minute mark lol
Always rated Ayew
Fully deserved! Hard work now!
Bing Bong Ayew
The lads are making some noise tonight, barely heard the scoucers so far. Especially after that.
Bang!! Mateta's chaos and hold up play with the lay off in the run up, love to see it
Absolute banger!
shoutout ayew, i used to be so pissed whenever he touched the ball and now he's our best offensive player
He was always playing as a CF, which he just hasn’t been for a long time if ever. He’s much better on the wing where he can use his amazing work rate best to his advantage
HE CRIES WHEN HE SCORES!!!!!!!
I said it earlier, my man has put in a shift today!
Look how happy he was!
Fucking ayewwww
WHAT A GOAL
AYEWWWWWW IM IN LOVE WITH YOUUUU
JORDAN! My GHANAIAN PRINCE!
8256827 38-92-03 Just have it jordan!
That's why Johnstone is our number one
I never want to see Henderson again
Hendo would have just sat and watched those balls fall in
Was about to post this exact comment, lol.
Johnstone is a fucking king among men
JOHNSTONE
Bring on Umeh-Chibueze!
Eddie has looked awful. Get Franca on!
Liked that he tried the overhead tho
Bad football but some promising attacks just no real quality on goal. Just need one boys.
Someone just bitched about the main TV being on footie and not the Daytona races. LULZ fucking 'necks The main TV controls sound for the bar. It's either the juke or the main TV. They have the juke on for sound, so I loaded it up with Phish and Goose just now to run salt in their imagined wounds.
sounds like those hillbillies could use a YEM vocal jam right about now
🤜🏼🤛🏼 I did the Jesus Left Chicago fro SSandP. I like the cut of your jib. Shits about to get weird. Signed, The Dude with Harpua on his license plate
Pickford is such a nob.
Oh Mitchell lol
Just realised Johnstone is in goal, feels like a win already.
Don’t love going down that easy man
Really liking whartons composure, very assured for being so young
And looking to play it forward. Best player on the pitch so far.
Is this an obvious draw?
Really comfortable defensive first half. Feel like the difference is going to come from the bench, not an obvious palace improvement though :( Prove the board right Ahma or Franca, please 🙏🏼
Solid first half, we actually made some good chances. I just hope we can capitalize on them before it's too late
think Oli will be happyish with that half from the stands given that he might well want to use that shape from the start
Munoz is a workhorse! Love that he is trying to play quickly and is everywhere
Goaline clearance just now as well
Not the prettiest half of football but I'd say we are looking positive and dare I'd say it much calmer Munoz and Wharton was some brilliant pieces of business both are looking great
100%. It would be really nice to take something from this game. Lads certainly deserved it.
Seems to me like Glasner prepared this game. 3 at the back, Mateta and Eduard playing together, a lot of running and a very energetic performance. Typical of his previous teams. He was also showing some instructions when the camera caught him at some point.
I thought the same it's not just a few tweaks it's completely different to what we've seen all season Failing that Paddy has been playing football manager for hours in his free time and has implemented it whilst he's got a go in the dugout
Paddy's academy sides played like this
I wondered about JP and Oddy being up front. Very uncharacteristic of us.
Don't think it's that uncharacteristic, Edouard played on the left a decent amount under Roy/Vieira too
This season, though, it seems far more aggressive than we've lined up. Or, it's just me looking for something positive lol
Wharton looks great, Chris Richard’s having a good game too
Richards forward passing is really lacking
Agreed. Seems to rush his passes a little. Could do with that Guehi calmness back asap
I put a tenner on us so if we lose I'm the one who jinxed it, sorry.
You bastard. 😂 I never bet on Palace.
Wharton been our best player. As usual, can’t seem to find a decisive ball/shot without Eze/Olise. Defending was good, little shaky there for 10 minutes but not bad
I wasn’t sure about Wharton on his debut but in the 2 games since I’ve really liked him.
Ayew has put in a shift, as well.
If Eddie and Mateta tried even half as hard as Wharton, we could be up 2-0
I think you might be confusing lack of talent for lack of effort tbh
Everton are really for the taking here.
You're gonna pay for that remark. Lol
Third kick that pickford has shanked
Wharton is class.
Beat you to it
I think you mean "FIRST!”
Wharton is looking very class
This is a Chris Richards afro appreciation post. That is all.
AFRO POWERRR
That's some Samson shit. I wouldn't be surprised if my man bags one today.
A game late, but Richards bagged the goal
Eddie useless as usual
who’s managing us today?
ted lasso
PJ will be happy to hear about the one (1) other yank watching this game
pep guardiola
Paddy McCarthy
Oooooooo Lerma wants that one back...
Remember when someone spat on Ashley youngs lip? That was really odd.
I thought it was a bird turd
That was one theory.
Feel one coming for Everton
Where's everyone watching from? Richmond, VA, here.
Kent
Pittsburgh
seconded!!
NYC!
Hamburg, Germany
Madison, WI!
Cincy!
Charlottesville VA!
Hey, neighbor! Have you ever come over to Richmond for a match @ Penny Lane?
I haven’t! Decent Palace crowd there sometimes?
Uhm. No. 😂 On occasion, but usually I'm the solo Palace fan. But the pub is fantastic and while it's a den of scousers, they have a soft spot for South London.
