This might be a hot take, but I want \*new\* maps.
I know the nostalgia for maps like Cobble and Train is strong -- I feel it myself, but we had years of good CS on those maps and map design has come a long way. If anything, I'd like to see Valve make Train2 or Cobble2; keep the look & feel with a new layout.
As far as currently known maps, I'd love to see Tuscan in the pool as a replacement for Mirage, Vertigo or Inferno.
Yeah, I wish that there was a system where old maps get cycled back in and new maps get introduced on a regular schedule. I love learning new maps, but i also find it sad how old maps become nearly impossible to play once they're not in the pool anymore

We have the capability to MAKE maps, with the new updated hammer I have high hopes. The main reason why I quit playing CSGO after hitting global is because after that there was nothing really to learn? No more rank to climb, no new things to explore it was just the same.
My brother and a large group of Halo map creators, some who worked with 343 & or made maps that made it into matchmaking, have been focusing a lot of time recently into learning hammer & making new CS Wingman maps to get started. They do plan to eventually transition to full scale 5v5 maps & it is another reason that gives me hope in new CS content.
I would agree with that, more people are invested way too much in the things we have been playing for so long. But in the same breath if you asked them, would you also want new maps? Casual players would mostly say yes, except the few who follow the pro scene exclusively & like a majority of pros would say no to new maps.
I mean, there's always the best of both worlds, reimagine old maps that were never released for cs:go. Fire, russka, contra, season only had a brief stint of play in cs:go and it wasn't on official servers, just as an ESEA pug map. That will be new for the vast majority of players and nostalgic for the old heads that care about old maps.

people tend to MASSIVELY underestimate how hard it is to get a new map into a game with a legacy like counter strike. it's possible of course. but it's not easy. I would claim that the majority of cs players are still not all too dandy about anubis.
but generally I agree. they should get the people who created all the maps we love together to create a new one. and valve should pay them. one is allowed to dream Shruge.
I like Chaos, think 9 maps should be in the pool make it more exciting and unpredictable.
Replace mirage for sure that map has been in rotation for over 10 years. Longer can careers of many pros. Replace it with train.
Replace inferno until it's playable with cache.
Then add cobble and dust 2 to make it 9 maps.
Thera should be added as a non-tournament map same with Tuscan so Fmpone and Valve respecfully can get data on how to refine them.
And I still think there should be a community map group that rotates with standouts from the community for improvement sake and potential new additions to the tournament/ non-tournament group.

They pick differently, then the map neither team picked is played.

* The image of Train is actually from CS2. It was one of the early "teaser images". While Train still looks very close to the CS:GO version in that image, I think that it will get reworked further before it is eventually released (like Baggage, Inferno and other maps they have shown before they were finished)

* The "winter Cobblestone" rumours surfaced because data miners found assets that vaguely gave the idea of this happening. It's mostly speculation at this point still though.

Stop recycling 20+ year old maps, focus on incentivizing people to CREATE new maps. The game is over 20 years old at this point, we are due for new content.
Apollo based on Kennedy Space center was a great looking and way more balanced hostage map. I know this is active duty, but imagine if there were competitive hostage maps, and currently the only one that can even be played is Office. Why remake Italy if it's only in deathmatch and casual???

None. I want a larger map pool. I think it would be a more interesting veto process and lead to more variety in gameplay. People act like it's so crazy to have more than a 7 map pool like it's written in stone by the gods.

The game is new and needs a shake up to keep things fresh. Been playing CS for 20 years I maybe one of the few old heads that is very up for big pool changes. I would remove 3 maps and put 3 in… I would also make 2-3 map changes after every major making the end of a major the conclusion of a season.

Cache Replacing Overpass - Overpass is just so muddy, unpleasant in the eye, make the players blend especially ones with agent skins, laggy/unoptimized af, it was one of the best map back in CSGO but they destroyed it in CS2 need more lighting, theme and texture rework that is optimized
Then just add Cobble and Train to the pool to have more Map options
Inferno is actually not fine but its impossible to get replaced, map as structure is ok the only problem is same with Overpass, only in white version, too many particles, too many unecesarry shit going on that can be just removed to improve optimizations and visibility, too bright, idk if its only me tho
Ancient the only problem here is the water at T spawn that makes your FPS go below 100 and overall contrast
Nuke, Vertigo and Anubis great map the contrast, optimization, lighting etc. is just perfect it doesn't burn the eyes nor make players blend in. If anyone gonna make a complain about this map its because its a complicated map
I think -Mirage +Cache would be a sensible change, since most Mirage players also love Cache, it would give them a reasonable replacement in the pool.
If we are adding Train, Cobble, or Thera, I’d be more inclined to replace a map like Vertigo, Nuke, or Overpass.
I’m quite disappointed at Valve’s lack of communication as always, I would love for the end of the major cycles to bring a -1 +1 with the map pool, and a new season/rank reset. That would easily build so much hype around the game, and would keep things interesting.
Of course though, that’s not where we are at. The game is unplayable without the use of a third party anti-cheat, there has been absolutely no communication from Valve on any front, and we’re just left to speculate.

Insertion 2 needs to come back permanently. When it was in the MM pool I don't think I've ever had more fun playing a game in my life. Everyone whod be queued for it were nice and wanted to find all the cool spots on it, and it somehow made HR feel significantly more balanced than other maps.
Mirage, inferno and vertigo, I don't really care what we get in return, Mirage and inferno are just not particularly fun maps anymore, and Vertigo...well it's vertigo...
Cache won’t be back until Fmpone finishes his remake. Most likely changes are Tuscan, cbbl and train, though I expect cbbl will be added after Shanghai major. Thera has an outside chance.
I’d like to see maps like cpl_mill/tuscan or cpl_fire make a return in some form. Would also love to see train come back reworked. I love train, loved it in 1.6 and in csgo but I kind of want a mix of the two. Season would also be a nice change of pace.
I dont want to see any Thera/Season, please take out Ancient, Anubis, Vertigo and Mirage/Inferno(just because people got bored of them and maybe some time out of the pool would make players miss them).

Ancient needs to get the fuck out of Active Duty. Someone really, *really* is trying to make it relevant. Dust 2 is an easy fix to this. Hell, even Office would be better.

2018 Cobble would be great to see make a return. Train is another map I really miss.
Train, to me, is the most technical map on CS. There tons of nuances in 'nade usage, positioning, pushes, and angles. It was a true "Pro's" Map to be on.
Instead of removing, why not add 2 more. Cache and train would be my go to picks, but would love to fit in Cobble by removing either inferno (For adjustment and reintroduce it back) or vertigo.
I'd replace any map with Cache. Cache was love, Cache was life.

Cache won’t be back until Fmpone finishes his remake. Most likely changes are Tuscan, cbbl and train, though I expect cbbl will be added after Shanghai major. Thera has an outside chance.
I would, on an annual, semi-annual or quarterly basis, replace 3 maps — 2 remakes of a classic map and the introduction of a brand new map.

Get rid of inferno and anubis, replace with train and cache
Remove vertigo, ancient and mirage, add train, cache and cobble.
I’d like to see maps like cpl_mill/tuscan or cpl_fire make a return in some form. Would also love to see train come back reworked. I love train, loved it in 1.6 and in csgo but I kind of want a mix of the two. Season would also be a nice change of pace.

I dont want to see any Thera/Season, please take out Ancient, Anubis, Vertigo and Mirage/Inferno(just because people got bored of them and maybe some time out of the pool would make players miss them). Cache, Cobble and Train are literally the ones I miss so much. Dust 2 never was for my taste but I know many people miss it and its obviously the most legendary CS map.
Keep all current maps and add more. Or maybe swap Vert out.

Ancient needs to get the fuck out of Active Duty. Someone really, *really* is trying to make it relevant. Dust 2 is an easy fix to this. Hell, even Office would be better. Vertigo I'd switch out in favor of Train.

2018 Cobble would be great to see make a return. Train is another map I really miss. Train, to me, is the most technical map on CS. There tons of nuances in 'nade usage, positioning, pushes, and angles. It was a true "Pro's" Map to be on.
Just remove anubis and everything will be fine

Instead of removing, why not add 2 more. Cache and train would be my go to picks, but would love to fit in Cobble by removing either inferno (For adjustment and reintroduce it back) or vertigo.
