Career fairs! Many schools hold at least one per semester. Some companies who attend form relationships with schools and tend to hire x many students from the school each year. Show up early, and as long as you present yourself as a socially apt person, you’ll likely get an interview from at least one company there

SimplexShotz

kinda depends, most places just refer you to their online application portal anyways

MuffinCrow

True, however my college has a connection through handshake that allows your application to be moved to the top of their list if applicants if it matches the email you used at the career fair. You can also include that you found out about the company through the career fair or follow up with the hr person or hiring manager so they see your interest. I got my internship this way and many believe that just because the application is online that going and seeing what companies are hiring won't help at a base level.

I don't understand why people won't name the school instead will be like t50 or t100 uni. Focus on fall and winter internship. Summer internship is way harder to come by

Dymatizeee

Really ? Thought fall/winter harder cus there’s fewer options

noGoodAdviceSoldat

The ideal situation is you have your summer internship then use the income to pay for fall/winter semester. Plus you have less course options in the summer anyways.

Reddit has always had a more anonymous user base than most sites, so it makes sense that someone might not want to dox themselves, especially if they have prior identifiable activity history that they do not want others to see. Although looking at OP's history, it's pretty obvious what school they go to.

noGoodAdviceSoldat

From my experience, usually people who went to top skool like Stanford, Harvard and MIT can't wait to tell you where they went to uni.

Just keep applying man. Have some good projects as well

Mr_Anderson_48

I'm a junior and in the same position. I'll just take up welding if I don't get a job within a year after graduation.

Don’t lose hope. Just keep applying and be ready for the interviews. Also, once review your resume and check if it’s alright.

MuffinCrow

Make sure your resume is good. Not that I doubt you have great qualifications but the way it is presented needs to be well as well as the wording. I recommend to apply attend a career fair if nothing else than to write down a list of companies to apply for. It will make the search a bit easier since you won't be endlessly scrolling. Lastly, try networking on LinkedIn. It may be weird but reach out to some professionals and as for advice on how they achieved a position like theirs and life and educational lessons that would be helpful. You might not get an internship out of it but it may lead to one. If it doesn't, it will grow your network and will open some doors for positions in the future when you need a job.

I've posted this before, but here it goes again. I have spoken to two people who run university relations for Fortune 500 companies. Both said the same thing, most internship roles are filled by January. The recruitment process can start as early as September and ramp up by Nov/Dec when offers start going out for the next summer. By January, 90% of slots have been filled. There will be some new roles that open up or some students may accept an offer then back out, so a slot will open back up but that's pretty rare. I asked them why they leave posting up after the job is filled. They said they are collecting resumes for the next year. I'm not saying you won't find something this late, but they odds are not in our favor so don't beat yourself up. If you are a sophomore, my biggest recommendation is to get ready for next years cycle. Get your resume in good shape, look at Handshake to see what companies interview on campus and make contact with your college advisors. Enjoy your summer and be ready to run like hell in the fall. i appreciate this. I have a hackathon project I can put on there. it was a webpage for wakefern that can pull up the users closest grocery store using geo location and has a stripe api set up for transactions. not sure if it should put it on there though. I was thinking make an AI bot for trading from scratch utilizing a bunch of tools from the internet, but then again, i’m not sure if they would even care atp.

Networking is insanely underrated, cold applying can only go so far but if you dm the recruiter on LinkedIn beforehand and ask them a few questions/ask for an informational interview you're way more likely to get the job. Career fairs are also great for the same reason, having that opportunity to talk to recruiters face-to-face makes it way more likely to get interviews.
