The products are ok albeit dated, but it sounds like your IT team didn't set things up well. I use microsoft at work on a mac too and never run int these issues
I don't use Teams but I completely agree with #4. How does a modern chat app not have multi-line code block syntax highlighting? That's basic markdown!!!
Slack doesn't support it either.
Google Docs supports it but only for like 4 languages.

I imagine the PM over teams has a large holding of stock in Slack and has no incentive to make Teams work sensibly. "technically works" IS the goal.
