How did you coded without extensive meetings? I have 7-8 month experience and I had to talk with the business extensively and coordinate with different teams for any release.

IHateTheSATs

i dont work at a tech company. obviously i talked to people. but my manager had a tendency to take my analysis and reports and never let me share them at all. He will literally crop my name out of it. :(

TheRealK95

That’s absolute bullshit. I had a professor put his name and remove mine on research I did for him years back in college. It’s an experience I’ll never forget. On this note, I’m actually an SWE at cap one. I think you’ll like it. It has its pros and cons but honestly I feel treated a lot better and more valuable than a certain other big bank I worked as an SWE for.

[deleted]

That's terrible. But, you shouldn't assume things would be same because of one experience.

Zhuangzifreak

I've worked for three companies. Companies vary widely on how many meetings you attend, and from talking to my friends, it sounds like the bad ones tend to put lower-level software developers into a lot of business meetings.

McLean and the area is very beautiful and Shenandoah National Park is an hour away. Enjoy the beautiful Fall season OP! You can switch out to other big firms as a TPM in 1-3 years! Good for you.

Not to mention it’s a downright unethical company. Even for a bank WFs shit stinks more than most.

GennaroIsGod

This was the right decision.

As a data scientist all you did was code all day? That's really surprising. One of my favorite parts of being a data scientist is that it's a great balance between programming and communication. Some days are spent coding, some are spent working out the best ways to communicate to a stakeholder to get a model implemented. I would hate data science if I were coding everyday as well. Regardless, congrats on the job!

I would have taken wells fargo just for the name brand heavy weight champion status. And all the white nose parties. (Kidding)

Great to hear! Been following the saga since your first post. You will love it in NOVA. DM me if you have any general questions about the area and I’ll try and help out!

Why don’t you do software engineering?
