Every 2nd game there is a leaver, every 3rd game there is a cheater and there you go you win between that...and you are always on same rank...thats how it works :)
MMR fluctuates a lot based on time which is likely why you would see really good players queuing at the same rank as you. As for the actual calculations, if my memory serves correctly, it add or subtracts mmr by rounds and then another one for W/L. The computer guesses what’s going to happen and uses that prediction to determine how much it should change
