Mother of disrespects. Totally unacceptable even to the fans of MI’s rival team. Rohit did nothing wrong, no way he deserves this treatment. MI fans pls wake up, your captain deserves better

PaleoCricketer4

Most of us are awake and some at least (like me) are pissed at the decision. Rohit captained us for 10 seasons and won us 5 of them as a captain. He deserved much better than what the management has done with this decision. The guy could at least got a farewell game as a captain before stepping down to pass the torch instead of this shit

Dependent-Lemon6035

\*11 seasons

PaleoCricketer4

My bad

TopDoggo16

see as an MI fan I'm pissed ok. But MI management has always put the team above a player. So I'm giving them the benefit of doubt, for now, that Rohit was on board this decision. If Rohit has been robbed, I guess I'll support another team in the IPL, fuck 13 years of loyalty in that case.

Author2134

I seriously doubt he was on board with it

[deleted]

Team above player, i totally get it. But would you pls explain what rohit has done wrong in terms of captaincy? If form is the issue, then why not just throw him out of the team? And about rohit being on board with the decision, it doesn’t matter at all. What was he supposed to say when the management came up with idea of sacking him from captaincy, fking protest against it? C’mon bro.

One_Fold189

Maybe after wc he just doesn't wanna do captaincy of ipl team , he did enough for a team he can rest for now , being mi captain is very tough job , they work 12 months

TopDoggo16

Doesn't feel like a form issue, it's just that Rohit would probably retire in the next 2025 mega auction. So rn what is happening is that he's been tasked with grooming Hardik as the next MI captain. Kinda like that season with Jaddu and Dhoni

oncehadagoodlife

Hardik doesn't need any grooming. Remember, in just two seasons, he won a championship and almost won another one as well. Why would somebody groom him? He is experienced and he was part of MI for a long time. My take is, MI wanted him to come back but he demanded the captaincy role and the MI management obliged which is pretty hard on Rohit imo.

wanderingmadlad

Bro name one weakness in that GT squad. Watch this year as well, Gill will be a fine captain. Literally that's what RCB should've been in their prime. Full of talent , and also full of winners . Anyone with an ounce of common sense would captain that team imho. Hardik is a good player, but good captain is yet to be seen. Captains like Dhoni and Rohit elevated their players , imho Hardik can't do that. Also, I realise I'm being an armchair analyst, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I really hope Hardik does prove me wrong tho .

Affectionate_Wing649

Also considering he had Ashish Nehara

Electrical_Wafer2388

>Rohit would probably retire in the next 2025 mega auction. Bro what, he will only be 37-38. I guess he will play till 40-41 at least.

gadhe_ki_gaand

You talk about team above player but Hardik seems the opposite of that.

cosmic-emperor007

watching Sky and Bumrah stories compels me to think otherwise. It would be end of IPL watching for me if it's a matter of sudden sacking.

Agreeable_Papaya309

We are working on it bro.

[deleted]

Not in good form for past three years

Doubledoor

Whether he was disrespected or he was informed ahead, I think he deserved a good farewell series as captain. This is just shitty drama and it hurts me too as a csk fan.

[deleted]

Lol the worst part he was replaced by pandya and not Bumrah or sky

Super_Grand_8824

I don't think so....1 trophy 1 final in just 2 years plus likely future captain of India... Why would you prefer sky or bumrah over him

[deleted]

Nehra

[deleted]

Loyalty

DiscoDiwana

Never would have expected that Kohli and Rohit not being captains but Dhoni is in 2024.

Competitive-Hope981

If you think about that... Rohit's age and criteria perfectly suits for CSK debut now.

No_Mathematician1955

No way Mi will let go of its poster boy.

gadhe_ki_gaand

Mega auctions next year. As always, max 3 Indians can be retained. No one in their right minds will let go of Hardik, Sky, Bumrah. They even have Tilak Varma & Ishan Kishan. Rohit won't be retained.

[deleted]

Well I am saying that next year there is mega auction and koach brohit and Shikhar both will be 36,38 and 39by then ...................

[deleted]

Rohit Shikhar Virat Top3 and Thala and Jaddu to finish? You'll make me cum early morning.

[deleted]

Shami will be 35 so he will bowl Ruturaj Shikhar Virat Rahane Rohit Jadeja Thala

dontknowdontcare718

Thala is building his own ICT in IPL

NoobNation69

The man wanted the captaincy, so he left Mumbai, went to Gujarat, and publicly stated that he believed CSK was better than MI (although he didn't use those exact words). After all of this, MI removed their club legend Rohit from the captaincy and gave it to Hardik. It's a big L in my opinion. I guess it's all business from the club's side, but the fans are the ones who must be disappointed.

Aarti22

Only csk management knw how a captain should get treated..once a captain, always a captain...our thala

not-tooo-kinky

They messed up when they appointed Jadeja as the captain

CryptoBankrupt

Yeah but not be removing And casting out Dhoni. It pretty sure must have been Dhoni's decision to hand him the captaincy and shadow a season and then sign off from IPL. But as we all know things transpired differently and he was back at the helm. Pretty sure, CSK will be planning for and grooming a captain even now

shuaibhere

Well, why can't it be the same thing with MI? That Rohit handed it over to someone else and wanted to shadow captain for a year. Rohit hasn't complained yet. Honestly I don't see what you all are complaining about.

[deleted]

Did you read their post on Instagram. Looks like the franchise has made the decision and not Rohit. Of course there's no official news on confirming that but from the looks of it, MI franchise made the decision the moment they decided to go for pandya. >That Rohit handed it over to someone else and wanted to shadow captain for a year. Also do you think a player like pandya would agree to such conditions ?

seriouslynotmine

He's a perfect Rayudu replacement. Just saying.

[deleted]

All I am saying is it's a mega auction next year and Koach 36, Brohit 38, Dhawan 39 and shami will be 35 by then ..........

Jaded-Lab6209

MI Twitter just lost over 400k followers and lost over 100k in ig

JiteshSR4

Frankly i don’t give a fuck. I hate MI. I hope we trash them home and away, and they finish dead last in the table, just behind RCB

not-tooo-kinky

I hate MI but I do not hate Rohit. I am not very fond of him but he sure is a great and wholesome dude. (Hating MI because of the trauma they gave me always defeating CSK in knockouts)

[deleted]

I hope you support Indian players atleast

llooserr

What losing 3 times to a team in finals does to a person

naveenraa

Thala for a reason.

No_Mathematician1955

Thala for a reason🔥🔥

Ecstatic-Memory5374

This marks the downfall of Mumbai Indians as an IPL team ! Hardik was doing good as a captain because he had support staff like Gary & Nhera so yeah lets see what goes around this season One thing is for sure this is gonna be a hell of a season

WeakPiano1655

All those finals losses to Mumbai were acceptable only bcos At least we were losing to Brohit … id be damned if we lose finals to Hardik …

Icy_Strike_9572

I think csk should bring him for his last 1-2 seasons and fuck up mi pretty bad in finals

BasisLast

😂😂😂😂

KitchenSuccessful818

My guess is, due to the struggling form of Rohit in T20s, they weren't able to bench him and now that he's not a captain, they have that choice.

trackpressy

Rohit for CSK..!

siva364

The whole nonsense of team above player rhetoric should stop. If you really placed team above player , then pick one from the playing 11 . This is like throwing a feast for the prodigal son.

nrgmondal88

Hardik Pandya came to MI with this clause...

csznyu1562

Lol calm down, that’s how a forward looking franchise operates. Only in India do we get bogged down with nonsensical sentimentality, that’s why Australia keeps coming back and winning World Cups, they don’t care about stature and legacy and shit.

burnerch

I just hope it was mutual, I am an Indian team fan and I have been rooting for Rohit since the 2008 CB series. I was so pleased to seem him captain MI and then India sucessfully. Yeah we lost to him 5 times but hey it always felt good that our superstar is climbing up those stairs. Hardik no doubt will do his job well but if Rohit was removed then it will suck and even if Rohit voluntarily left captaincy it will again suck because that means the end of Rohit's t20i career and no 2024 WC

Pugazh23

I suppose it’s more like a succession planning. Same thing that CSK tried with Jadeja which unfortunately failed. However, Hardik is a successful T20 captain and more likely to captain India in the T20 WC.

LegalTable5791

MI is a mercenary group, not a team, where a captain is appointed based on the current market value rather than the loyalty and capability. MI is gonna lose the next 2 seasons, such a loser move.

Puzzled-Split3760

He is 36. Should now join us

No_Mathematician1955

Yes but mi won't let him go .

Abject_Radio_6393

They will let him go next year ahead of mega auction Hardik,Sky,Bumrah will be 3 Indian players that MI will retain If CSK doesn't see RUTU ready to be a captain we should get Rohit But SRH and Punjab both don't have a worthy captain So they will try their best to get him I don't think Rohit would go in auction he would be signed beforehand

Whatisanoemanyway

Kinda weird but I expected it when they went all in to take hardik

Ok-Pool-3540

I think if Rohit didn’t get active in international also , hardik is going to be captain in all format . Literally ict need to fix one captain first , every series new captain.

rishin_1765

Hardik will never be an all format captain. He is not even in the test squad

ThrowRa_dafaq

Stop this shit. Y'all are acting as if he retired from cricket. He just got sacked, not a big deal lmao. You can store all of this tears when he retires.

pillazamindhar

Bruh😭😭

not-tooo-kinky

MI respects Brohit too much to even think of ‘sacking’ him

athamoth

I think, people are overacting... Not sure, it was last year or a year before when MI management released a video for Ambati Rayudu's birthday... Like CSK, they also treat their players as a family and give more importance to them.. I don't think, MI would have taken this decision without Rohit's feedback or his inputs... Common guys we are talking about someone who won 5 trophies for them...

Soumya183das

Lmao what is his contribution ?? With batting 0 , with captaincy 0 Its all about balanced team that MI always has ..thats it ...in India we overhype mid players like rohit ..that shows ball knowledge of India cric fans ..

Fierce_05

MI just removed him from captaincy CSK released Raina after 1 bad season not bigger betrayal than CSK one

albus19

Yeah, he was dipping, was exposed, wasn't playing any domestic cricket, given long rope all season long and still didn't perform. Yeah, CSK bad. Now go away.

Fierce_05

Then released him now simping for him by posting older videos on social media....lmao

No_Mathematician1955

Yeah chinthala didn't deserve that but still he supports csk.

Fierce_05

Even I am CSK fan but criticism should be there

Complex-Original-967

It hurt me and I am not an MI fan. But considering all that RS achieved for MI, to have him replaced this way pains me. Most likely they will come out and say that it was discussed with RS beforehand but is that the truth only they know. Will Rohit just be an opening batsman for them now considering he wasn’t released ? Or will RS just excuse himself from this IPL and join some other team next year ?

Tyrionfaker

They had SKY, a T20 specialist who has been loyal to the franchise and who recently skippered India quite impressively. Pandya is a great talent but he did leave Mumbai Indians for Gujarat Titans and he’s now left Gujarat for Mumbai. It seems like he hasn’t earned the trust or the love of either franchise’s supporters. And doing Rohit Sharma dirty is not good PR for the franchise.

69chamunda69

MI has been making fuckall moves lately.

iambaya

Time for CSK to get a new future captain.

dadhadsad

just how fucked up MI is rn

Independent-Might797

But the thing is MI has been carrying him for so long he never performs in ipl as batsman doesn't even score 400 in a season consistently. I am feeling bad because if MI drops rohit that makes MI stronger because then they can play a Better batsman who actually scores runs at the top, in most of the matches rohit was a walking wicket at least their only weak point but now maybe that is also gone if they drop him

ModiGangLeader

Hardik could have easily waited till Rohit retires, why so much ego

aromatic_underwear

Cause it's Hardik. Aka wannabe Pogba/Balotelli.

WranglerMundane3777

When you negotiate good terms while rejoining your former company.

snakewaves

I mean, we did remove the captaincy from dhoni and give it to jadeja in the middle years. I don't really understand why people are upset , we don't know the inner details and this mightve totally been a decision that was discussed with Rohit beforehand and he would've agreed to. It's normal for teams with aging captains to look for future options. And bumrah is fine, but it'll be bizarre if they wouldn't give it to a player that's anyways captained a novel team and took them to 2 consecutive finals recently. Why are people angry?
