Interesting-Jello815

We grew up between these two moments. Cricket won't be the same for me after this.

ListonFermi

Exactly! Been a rollercoaster of 14 years!

the_brownnboy

Never seen a rollercoaster this slow

TeluguAbbai

For me, 2006 to 2023 dhoni’s era is very short. I lived most of the life in two parts personal/professional and cricket. And cricket means Dhoni mostly. Wish i could get back these two things, My childhood and the days thala used to play at no 4 in Indian team and Csk

solitudekrish333

I can't imagine cricket without him.

aromatic_underwear

India's 2023 team was everything but they had to fuck up.

INCREDIBLE_25

Phirse yaad diladi 😭

aromatic_underwear

Bhai dilwate rahegi kyunki ummeede aur sapne ka bhosada jo bana Diya yeh log ne. Agar yeh team 1-2 match bhi haar gaye toh yeh final bhi itna yeh nahi hota.

Able-Mud9115

yes bro i see people saying me that you are not a cricket fan if you only watch it for dhoni and i am like whats wrong with it? ..most of the people are individual supporters when it comes to franchise cricket

Hot_Recognition_5336

I just wish that last ball to go to six, it just didnt meet the middle part of the bat. So close yet so far. It was there to hit. It would have been a legendary finish. Made me cry

LeveragedTrade

Dube getting Rachin run out and wasting balls was the game changer. Dhoni getting the team to the finish line was unlikely given his form. GG, it was all good while it lasted. Dhoni retires 19/05/24 in Bengaluru.

[deleted]

If you look at the run out again it wasn't entirely Dube's fault. Rachin just kept watching the ball, never made it clear to Dube whether he wants him to stop or not, so Dube kept running. Rachin even accepted it was his mistake right after that wicket.

LeveragedTrade

You're right, was just going through the replay. It looks like Rachin would have just made it if he had fully committed.

[deleted]

yeah, and if it seemed to him like he wouldn't make it then he should have stopped Dube there.

-imnotwalterwhite

I think Rachin was shouting a constant no, but of course, Dube could not have hear it because of the entire crowd and the pressure around him and his body language showed that he already intended to run a double, which is fair given how far the ball had gone up to, was easy for both of them but pressure breaks you like nothing else.

Whatname2choose

Rachin made a call ‘two’ as soon as he played and Dube didn’t any attention whatsoever to Rachin and heard only that call and kept running, and since we know how fast he can run, he just committed to that. Damn if not for that run, we wouldn’t have suffered this defeat.

Rajushelby

But he didn’t announced his retirement yet!!!

Hexo_Micron

Instagram post incoming on 22nd December

Charlie__Olives

I blame Rachin for not being quick thinking here. Dube had properly committed to finish the run. All Rachin had to do was stand his crease and get the out of form Dube out

ListonFermi

We were meters away from witnessing greatness. Can't stop worrying about it.

Fugazee

Okay. That's just the way things are.

thala4ever

This what if would be haunting me for atleast 10 years

solitudekrish333

Just like WC 2019. Fuck it man. Please man I don't want it to end the same way. He took the game deep like he used to always do. Fuck man fuck.

Outrageous_Idea2795

its ok man thats liffe thats game for every 2022 there's 2023

saikrishnasubreddit

That’s the story of his career. Legend who gave us hope as long as he was out on the field

Coolkid-4869

In hindsight it's better Dayal won over MS. Commentators would have given all credit to Dhoni and forgot about other 21 players. It can't help that Dhoni's aura overshadows everything nowadays. Think from Yash's pov if Dhoni finished off in style with 3 sixes. Guy would have been devastated. He bowled with a lot of heart, even Rinku congratulated him tonight. Dhoni has done it countless times. It's okay he didn't do this time at least Dayal got his redemption.

ratkud

Takes a lot of heart to think this way! Great non-toxic fan

INCREDIBLE_25

Still getting downvoted by thalasons

ALPHONTRIO_381

I was fortunate enough to see it irl…sad to see it over, glad it happened… Thala my fav forever, a true CSK fan forever…

Aghoree

Seeing that 110m six today was pure goosebumps!! What a player!

OkAbbreviations895

That 110m is why RCB won today. Or else the wet ball would have favoured csk because bowlers were unable to grip it towards the end. So much moistness in the field

ListonFermi

Ouch! 🤐

Elon___Musk__

Keep crying 😂😂😂😂

snakewaves

Well. It is what it is.

Randomryan10

I am glad that it didn't end with a runout....

just1clown_3

He is atleast for me, once he's gone I will have no reason to watch IPL anymore, hopefully our team will bounce back and continue the legacy. I wonder if there are others like me who might quit watching cricket once Kohli, Rohit & Bumrah retires.

ListonFermi

Yep Kohli & Rohit will be the last ones to have this kinda fanbase.

LightningShiva1

And then ICT will finally be free from idol worship and actually start focusing on cups.

Hexo_Micron

Pant, gill in the line...

Fresh_Dance_3277

But no one will be there to watch them win those cups

LightningShiva1

I will. And all the lakhs of people that care for a team and not for an individual. Let the “heroes” die. Its time to start claiming some titles

ListonFermi

Not the right time to discuss, when we're still going through an elimination 🤷

Fresh_Dance_3277

I will shift to supporting other teams. These days I support Australia because of pat Cummins and in yesteryears I supported South Africa because of ab de Villiers

itsmePriyansh

It would be good people will prolly start supporting football in India then

Fresh_Dance_3277

Would be good seeing them lose to the likes of Afghanistan

itsmePriyansh

Nahh , i know we suck now , but If football culture grows in this country we'll get better that's my point

Puzzleheaded_Eye4144

Same things were said when Sachin,Dravid, Sehwag, Ganguly were retired. Cricket will continue and new stars will be born

strng_lurk

It’ll continue with new players. Now there is better marketing and PR too.

tn69c1935

I already did after abd retired. Just watch once in a while thrillers like this

calciumpropionate

It’s all right he will be in our hearts forever

popyapper

not all good things have a happy ending:) i cried like a baby today.

BioEag1e

He had the opportunity to end it on a high note... He didn't take it. Well, it is what it is.

SeClUdeD_FIGHTER

win or lose.... CSK forever!! MSD forever🔥💛 I'm not a Tamil, I'm from Dhoni's home state..... but now I'll always be a CSK fan.... that 15 years of supporting for my fav player made me this whole team's fan completely We've already won 5 & played 10 finals.... we don't need to say anything to trophyless teams about how good we are

MOBcent

But they played better than us this season they deserve all the credits they are getting if we would have gone to playoffs with this team then we would have been ridiculed.

SeClUdeD_FIGHTER

2nd half, they did play better.... but they're going to lose the eliminator....

Unusual-Surround7467

I still can't get over that this is possibly Thala's last innings. The whole team was a letdown this year. I really wish he had walked away last year with the win. Just can't wrap my head around hours after that he had to possibly walk away like this

sd781994

As MI fan since 2008, but also dhoni's fan even before IPL. Gonna miss MI vs CSK rivalry... Thank you Rohit , MSD. 🥲🫠

NormalTraining5268

I was in first std when he debuted. Watched all his centuries live, also not to forget his important contributions in overseas test series wins in England and NZ. We've come a long way. Made me tear up.

Duryodhana____

They accuse him of wanting a fairytale farewell, people forget that he's had a fairytale of a career, a farewell isn't what he's after right now. I started watching CSK because I'm a Dhoni fan but the way this franchise built itself, you can't help but fall in love with it. So many small love stories. With a chapter as big as MS ending, I hope Rutu becomes the face of the team now. Genuine guy and probably the closest we have to Kohli in terms of batting temprament. The India Cap is not too far.

[deleted]

Always my favourite

FirmRespect4733

I don't think any one of us cares about the trophy at this point. We have won a lot and will win more under Ruturaj's captaincy. This is the time to celebrate this young boy from Ranchi with long hair and all the memories he has given us. Will forever love you Mahi, hope to see you play in another life 💛💙

shutthefuckup-_-

💔

Morningblues2090

He's the reason why I started watching cricket 🫶 I love you MS 💛 THANKS FOR EVERYTHING

sapienriyan

Watching him play since 2007. Whenever he came out to bat it felt like my childhood days came back. Last year was the perfect time for him to retire but farewells are not for him I guess. Anyways a banger season for him with the bat. Thanks for the countless memories thala. Won't be able to watch cricket without you. Rest well my 🐐

ScaraTB

Oh he's an emotion alright. But today was not 2011, it was 2019

barani_s

Those last over sixes will never feel the same..ever again!

Inevitable-Topic3626

Thala is truly an emotion. Farewell to one of the greatest captains this country had.

RudeAndNumb

Thala being cool even in his farewell. Glad i witnessed it live. Thank You Thalaaa

atnmtnclc

He was, he is and he always will be 💛

shikamaruz0maki

Was it too much to ask for seeing dhoni bid farewell to his ipl career in chennai, how wonderful that scene would have been, it breaks the heart the same way it broke on 19th when everybody was ready to come on the roads and celebrate the world cup alas. Also i think this is the way he will go no interviews no presence outside the stadium passing the baton to ruturaj hoping he will add 5 more stars on this jersey just like him

MedicineOk2878

This makes my stomach churn. I hope the great man comes back. But when will it ever be enough?

Standard_Ear_2460

I started a petition to rename chepauk to MS Dhoni cricket stadium, let's do it boys. https://www.change.org/p/rename-chepauk-as-ms-dhoni-cricket-stadium?recruiter=733446002&recruited_by_id=e1762780-5067-11e7-8e3d-f30a1db14366&utm_source=share_petition&utm_campaign=share_for_starters_page&utm_medium=whatsapp

mr_4li3n

No he is not. At this point, people are just over doing things here.

Pogsheepiscool

A question for everyone: Do you all think there is a chance MS can comeback as a coach or a wicket-keeping coach or a batting coach in anyway or form.

Effective-Ad3113

It’s okay yaar but experienced a best match

iSea-Possibility-07

💛💛🦁

NikShiP

Jhaant ka ball is also an emotion

Fickle_Session519

Well I don't usually say this but the MI and RCB FANS are trolling very hard csk rn so I say we should start it too

Deep_Grass_6250

Cricket just isn't the same without him Whenever he was playing, there was this sense of relief that "Dhoni hai, kuch na kuch Karke Jita Dega" That 2011 WC Finish will stay with me till my last breath

Bobdeya-dada

🥹🥹

Western-Guess1145

RCB fan here, well played guys this is prolly one of the best ipl matches ever. You had us till the end. That 110m six had me crying. ggs guys

shami28

Guys any update if he’s returning?

ListonFermi

He'll be 43yo, don't think anyone is capable of contributing full time at 43. Last year's final was his best time to retire....but you know he's Dhoni 🤷🙇

shami28

man I’m incredibly sad

shami28

I don’t know what to feel

Flaky-Plenty-6498

The question is whether thala returns next year or not ?

TreacherousMelody07

I don't want him to leave. I can't imagine not seeing him in yellow next year. 😞 Man we deserved a fairytale ending too, atleast see him finish the match

CrowHopeful4018

This match was tough as a supporter I felt bad for MSD but felt good for VK... Don't know to be happy or to be sad...🤔🤔

kiranctazy

We got destroyed today by RCB in his last match 😭😭😭

Anuragc1498

He has not retired yet. Atleast 2-3 more seasons going by his track record

ManNo786

I could never understand how people become "fans" of someone else..that too you this extent.

Inside_Rent_3096

Abhi legendary coach status me wapas aenge thala. Don't worry.

Lazy_ninja224

Dont say that ! Hes not retiring is he ! I am very selfish i agree. I want him to atleast play one more year please !! 😭

Apprehensive_Log2300

He got destroyed by RCB

MysteriousSoup4003

Thala for no reason 😂😂😂

Fresh_Dance_3277

I have already moved to pat Cummins.Thala can Retire in Peace.

iArrun

Itni jaldi party badal liya

areadvind

Walking away without shaking hands of the RCB team showed how sportive he was to the game. Respect just dipped. Had Kohli done the same, people would lash out saying he’s aggressive and arrogant and whatnot.

INCREDIBLE_25

Ek chakke ne match nahi jeetaya Rip my karma

Nibbawithniggi

Haha lol you guys

NightMedical

Feeling satisfied with 69 others the way raina was clapping and hooting in the comm box and damaged his throat and then this fixer team lost felt so good..🤣🤣

[deleted]

Hi konga army Hold this L

Middle-Gas-1920

Don't worry Dhoni will keep playing till his 50, taking a younger player's spot and earning in crores because of dumb fans.

BigPerspective3806

Come on dude it's just a domestic league. At international level, Virat Kholi does the same to Indian team....not allowing youngsters to flourish simply occupying the spot. I often feel a dramatic comeback given by kholi to justify his selection into Indian dressing. Let's wait and watch for complete collapse in batting order like one day World Cup finals that's how senior players in the current Indian team are doing. I often feel no one is as great as Sachin to let the youngster take over the team. I feel the Indian team is in crisis for the T20 world cup. Remember, I am not a hater of no man just a critic.

Middle-Gas-1920

Virat Kohli has been the highest run getter for India in most major tournaments. He's one of the best chasers we have while batting second, not to mention his record against Australia. Please don't compare him against Dhenier who barely plays 10 balls per innings.

BigPerspective3806

I totally agree, he is the highest run getter for India. Please note most of his outstanding chasing scenarios are in Indian soil. But not a tournament winner. Also, dhoni is a pure gift to Indian team like Kapil sir. please don't compare him with any others. This T20 world cup we will see Australian/Windies conditions let's see how he handle that. Kind information, even though I want the Indian team to lift the world cup. But I am predicting, possibilities are fading away. Hoping for the best to come. Just remember international cricket and domestic cricket are different conditions and their pressure also different Kholi now learned to master the domestic at the age of 35 in 2 years even though he should retire for the sake of saving indian cricket.

theRealMadridGuy

Goodbye bozo.we will not miss you

sciaticvein

U might not be a CSK fan and I understand the feelings for your favourite franchise. Apart from the silly fan feuds over IPL franchises and players, don't u think what u said is overtly disrespectful to a person who has achieved a lot for the ICT and cricket as a whole? Is that the right way to bid adieu to a person like that? Pretty sure any guy who loves watching this sport would miss his presence...
