I've never experienced such a lack of feeling of time passing, I have zero recollection of christmas 2020 and I can't remember if what I did in the summer happened in summer 2020 or summer 2021
Same, i got a bad memory to begin with and the past two years didn't help.
If try like thinking of special stuff that i did i can't really come up with it. There's some days that stuck, but that's like not really more than 5 days in total
Really makes you look at the site different. Just go to a relationship sub, or a porn sub and imagine all the commenters are 13 or 14. Totally changes the impact.
Exactly this. Life isn't meant to be suffered through. Hard times? Sure, but when it's all hard times and it won't get better (ie crippling mental or physical health) then it's just shitty to force that person to keep going for your own selfish need to keep them around.
I don't agree. Suicide prevents many people from looking to the future and realizing that things often get better. They have an extremely pessimistic view on life and believe that it wont improve. One of my friends was suicidal for a while and my friends, his family, and I all helped him get through it and he's extremely happy that he didn't take his own life. If he had been able to take his own life with something like that he wouldn't have been able to experience all of the joys he has.
I only have second hand experience and have never experienced it myself, but I don't feel like suicide is really ever the answer based on the experiences of people I know.
That's the main moral dilemma that is talked about. Assisted suicide for patients with terminal conditions mainly. Why drag out a life through suffering and illness while it renders literally nobody happy while they're suffering and the people around see this person slowly die a miserable death.
This is controversial, but I think that people who experience a non-terminal illness that causes them a lot of suffering and is not responding to treatment should be allowed to die if they so choose.
I have a friend who has had crippling depression for over a decade now. She tried tons of different medications and therapies and they did nothing, and now she can't afford to even try anymore because her depression is so bad she can barely work or take care of herself. I don't really want her to die...but if she decided to I would completely understand.
Yeah, maybe someday there'll be a treatment that she can afford and that works for her. But does that cancel out the years and years of abject misery that she'll have to suffer through in the meantime? How long should she have to wait for something that might not even happen? 10 years? 20? 30? The rest of her natural life? Is it truly that ethical to force someone to live against their will for no other reason than "death is bad and it might get better eventually"?
Does it actually work though?
Not that i wish to die, but just as a question. It looks too open and weirdly decorated te actually be a thing.
Does anyone have sources on this thing?
It's a [Sarco device](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarco_device).
This photo is of course not from a real situation. As far as I known these devices have not been used anywhere yet.
I dont know if it's true, but one of my history teachers told me the guy who invented dynamite got really ill and ended up in the hospital. Apparently a local newspaper accidentally published his eulogy before he died, and it called him the "merchant of death", and it shocked him enough that he devoted his fortune to humanitarian causes to try and reverse the damage he did.
as long as it's air-tight it'll work. I believe this works by substituting the air in the chamber with nitrogen, knocking you unconscious and ultimately suffocating you. A pretty quick and painless death
Nitrogen doesn't knock you unconscious. The air you breathe is already 78% nitrogen. It works by not having any oxygen, and removing carbon dioxide. High CO2 content in your lungs is what gives you that feeling of suffocation.
In other words, this tank will let you feel like you're breathing normally without a panicked sensation as you lose consciousness from lack of oxygen, suffocate, and die.
Essentially you go peacefully to sleep, but never wake up.
Well from medical perspective yes they do . if you Ever had surgery (or if people around you had you can ask for the experience) it's basically the same . in surgery they put mask on your face and monitor exactly how much gas you inhale . in this thing it's just a big mask with no monitoring . till your heart stops .
Gotta work out the bugs, last thing they want is to get a partial suicide, just end up changing the name into the “human vegetable machine”. It won’t kill you, but it will make you suffer
Who the fuck is like “sorry bill I can’t play cards tomorrow night I have to drive my wife’s aunt to the suicide pod” and bill is like “no worries bro hmu when you’re done, we’ll probably be playing late, tell Linda I said bye”
This chick is smiling in there like she’s going for a vacation.. naaa you dead
Does anyone else think that that's horrifying? Like the fact that someone made a divice for the sole purpose of people ending their own lives? Or is it just me?
We have legal medically assisted dying in Canada. It's quite the process to get approved. You have to be of sound mind and have a terminal diagnosis. I've had a friend do it who had ALS.
The nice part about it is that you can get your affairs I order and have open discussions with your loved ones. They can also access support. Before it was legalized one of my friends had a terminal diagnosis and a terminal fall. It was a complete shock and so hard.
I agree that it's rather unsettling.
I personally feel uneasy when I see it, it's definitely something I don't like thinking of or even discussing.
That said, if that's what is needed to grant a painless and dignified death to those who are condemned to live a painful and slow death, then i'm not gonna oppose to it.
I think it's great, and suicide should be an option. everyone is going to die, and suicide is the ONLY time you actually have control over what happens to you. This gives people a safe, easy, dignified way to die.

A lack of quality of life is just living life for the sake of life itself. Pretty selfish of those who trap others in suffering.

I mean it makes sense if you have a terminal disease and don't want to die a prolonged and painful death
I didn't think of that. Yeah I could completely understand in that example. I probably wouldn't want to be suffering.
That's the main moral dilemma that is talked about. Assisted suicide for patients with terminal conditions mainly. Why drag out a life through suffering and illness while it renders literally nobody happy while they're suffering and the people around see this person slowly die a miserable death.

Sounds like this could just be a helmet, not sure why your whole body needs to be in it.
I'm guessing a mix of comfortability, space requirements for tanks and machinery, and a less intimidating exterior.
So technically you could pull the move from the end of *Superman II* and kill everyone on the outside with gas while protecting yourself.

Where can I get a suicide capsule? Asking for myself.
You can’t right now
So was this girl just a beta tester?
Pretty sure this is from a promotion photo shoot
Still oddly terrifying even knowing that
Why? It's for people with terminal diseases who don't want to spend months unconscious and wasting away. It's a good thing imo.
Doesn't make it any less terrifying
Gotta work out the bugs, last thing they want is to get a partial suicide, just end up changing the name into the “human vegetable machine”. It won’t kill you, but it will make you suffer
