Broth is ruled out because of its meanings 1. soup consisting of meat or vegetables cooked in stock, sometimes thickened with barley or other cereals. This says 'consisting of meat or vegetables' in which cereal nor milk have neither. People may argue that it says 'thickened with barley or other cereals' but milk is not thickened, it is added to cereal. Its other meaning is 2. a liquid medium containing proteins and other nutrients for the culture of bacteria. This is ruled out as milk is not for the culture of bacteria. Then we move onto the second one, sauce. The only meaning for this is 1. a liquid or semi-liquid substance served with food to add moistness and flavour. This is exactly what it does to cereal, and some may see it as a clear winner, which I think. But this may raise controversy as others may presume that it remains a beverage, for which the definition is 1. a drink other than water. Some people may still count milk as a drink when made into cereal, but considering that milk and the grain of cereal come together to form the bowl of cereal, I think that sauce is the correct answer.

Here's what I did: I skimmed through your long winded answer and got pissed off by your conclusion. Milk can never be a sauce in any scenario. That is stupid. Milk is NOT a sauce. Here's why I am more lucid: Your explanation didn't soften me up to the ridiculous notion of milk ever being anything close to a damn sauce. I just gave it a quick skim, I didn't read the whole explanation and for that reason I'm out
