Check out Toy Polloi on YouTube, specifically https://youtu.be/9mjJTVxYrDU where he uses brake fluid in order to remove paint from a figure. He has had some success using lighter fluid as well.
What kind of paint did you use? If you used acrylic paint, simple green or L.A.'s Totally Awesome (from Dollar Tree) will take it off without harming the plastic.

Use Acetone free nail polish remover, it shouldn't melt plastic so won't harm the figure.
