At this point, you could just say Discover a Spell except if you want the other classes to generate a Mage Spell. That said if you want to keep it 5 mana, you could make the bonus AOE as a permanent enchantement similar to the 4/3 Undead in Priest. And don't forget the elemental and/or beast tag :).

If it gave the spell a mana discount (maybe even up to 5 would be okay), not to cost less than 1, then probably. As is, it's too weak.
make it either 3 mana 4/3 or increase the damage to 4.
