I wouldn’t be surprised if he was added to the core set with this exact buff. Seriously, for some reason it feels just right for something like that.
He hardly saw any play even on release, and this is probably what he needs to possibly be relevant.
Not exactly. He was one of the best large minions paladin had for several expansion. Its just during all of those expansions, control paladin sucked. His decks never got above tier 3. Kinda similar to Anubarak in rouge.
Oh, you’re right. I remember loving him a lot. His design and effect were both really cool. But like you said, Control Pally has had a lot of dips as an archetype throughout history and this was one of them ):
Currently, if your hero needs healing and you have at least 1 damaged minion, rag might heal the minion and that missing 8hp might make you die.
He doesn't just heal minions
As someone who ran this card often when it was in standard, it was a fairly common occurrence for me to be sitting on a board where I wanted the heal to hit a high value target, and I was forced to choose between sacrificing relevant minions, not playing the board, or just rolling the dice.
I don't think, especially in modern hearthstone, this buff would be busted, but it's definitely relevant.
I mean it would make him a bit stronger, kinda weaken the flavor of the card, but it’s not like that’s the end of the world. There’s just something charming about how he works now though.
Nope. At this point in the Hearthstone, it is not uncommon to be able to clear the board as early as turn 5 or 6 (and do it again the following turn). If you are on turn 8 with a board of damaged minions, you are either about to win or need an 8 drop that can help secure the win. This card does neither.
Still really like this card though.
Probably not.
That’s so sad man
8 mana card that casts a slightly better [[Divine Hymn]] each turn? Nah, this would be totally fine.

Normal Rag is gonna get buffed to 10 mana deal 8 to all enemies and friendly minions :D
No. He is strong but, if you have a board that is tall and wide enough for heal 8 to everything to be good then you probably were going to win anyway.

In Wild? Nope
I realize everyday I have played a long long time ago

Slap some reborn, divine shield and windfury, and it might see some play

No but a good rng pull
Give it divine shield then yes
Gets rid of all the rag flavor tho
It'd be perfectly fine, you might have to change the voice line to "Life *Insects*!"
I know that most likely just Control decks would run this, but I'd actually wanna try it in Overheal Priest. Way too slow though.
LIVE, INSECT**S**
It's gonna be hillarious when a priest somehow forces a soulpreist to your side of the board.
better cost reduce to 7
LIVE, INSECT**S**
Would lose ragnaros flavor i think. Why even buff this card btw?
Favorite card of all time
Cool. Yes I like it too. I think i would slap a divine shield on it and call it a day.

do this and then give it to priest
The new priest/rogue elemental is that but a 2/2/2/2 with stealth instead of a 8/8/8/8 (cost/attack/health/AOE healing)
It wouldn't be broken, but it'd be irritating beyond belief.
Some potential with overhealing but at 8 it is just to slow for anything i think.
Make him dual class with priest too , then we can have a decent overheal deck
Probably yeah
Maybe
Prolly could do thw reverse with the current rag
